Wet stuff falling out of the sky!!

Cold enough now to need a coat in the mornings, and hopefully don't forget it when leaving in the afternoon.

I toughed it out and just wore a ballcap and a long sleeve shirt. I can walk from my car to the office door in less than a minute.

We're supposed to get hit with a snowstorm in about four hours.
That sounds just horrible. I had to wear a light jacket today. I didn't really have to, but I was in short sleeves and wanted to be just that extra bit comfortable.

But I got my signals crossed..."-- B. Dylan

Well hang in there. Be strong. Through sheer force of will you can persevere!

No snow in the forecast yet. Good thing as my son has my snowblower engine apart to replace the rings. Started with the top head of the engine as the spark plug threads were stripped and morphed into a larger project and he likes to rebuild engines.

Yesterday we hit 70 degrees and heavy thunderstorms. There was some minor flooding locally, but it wasn't anything that caused damage. After the rain moved out, the temperature started to drop. Fortunately, the winds dried everything up before it got too cold.

It is now snowing outside and in the upper 20's.

A foot of snow encasing about 1/2” of ice here in the mid-Ohio Valley today 1/6/25. Still snowing, too.

Low 20s in north Texas. This should be the coldest we see with this system, but lows will be below freezing all the way through the coming weekend. Thursday and Friday may have ice/freezing rain/snow. Fortunately for me and my son, we don't have to go into work those days.

I haven't been out. It's cold and we only got a few inches of snow. More is coming, but I don't know how much. We're at the. Northern edge of the storm.

Latest I'm hearing is 3-8" this Thursday, depending on which forecast you look at.

My furnace quit working yesterday. Was fortunate that my HVAC guy was able to make it out within a couple hours. Got down to 66 at the thermostat, which means probably 63 in the room where I work (at the end of the house). It warmed up pretty quickly after the tech cleaned the soot off my flame detector.

Weather people are predicting 3 to 4 inches of snow early on Friday. We already have staff who are asking if we will close Town Hall. Then someone pointed out that they don't want me making that decision given where I grew up.

Overnight lows in the high teens and low 20's with highs in the mid 30's all week. I tossed a moving blanket over the exposed pipes for the pool and have the pump running. I don't anticipate any issues.

Its very cold again in IA, we missed this recent big storm. We have a small amount of snow on the ground from an earlier snowfall, 100 miles S got 5" of snow or more.

Yes, I am riding my e-scooter to work. Its brutal, but short. This time of year if the Weather is bad, my car might come out only every 3-4 days

I don't know how the western part of the state is, but Nashville area shuts down for a week when you get an inch or two because there are two plows for the region. The best you get is a little sand on bridges and bad intersections. I'm sure the drivers will make North Carolinians look like true northerners.

They say "wintry weather" for Friday night & Saturday here.

One weatherman I listen to tries not to use the "s" word, but he did say an inch of snow isn't out of the question for the metro an hour south of me.

Well, the updated forecast is calling for 4 to 8 inches with the snow starting on Thursday evening. Wife and I discussed it this morning and since she is on call anyways, she is just going to stay at the hospital in one of the rental dorm rooms. It is about 30 miles from the house it is not worth risking in bad weather.

I stopped at the store last night and sure enough, milk and bread were gone.

On a side note, there is a southern tale that if there is thunders and lighting you will get snow in the next week. That might just turn out to be true in this case. We had a really good storm on Sunday and the sky lit up.

It's amazing that Anchorage, AK is warmer than Charlotte, NC. That doesn't happen often.

I am hoping for a little bit of snow this weekend. I bought a sled for my grandson last weekend. He likes sitting in the sled to watch tv, hopefully, he likes it when it moves.

22 degrees at sunrise here in the northern ATL burbs. Prediction of freezing rain and snow overnight Friday and into Saturday. I'll be looking at real estate listings in south Florida during my lunch break today. :ha:

They're calling for up to 5 inches here today.

My wife used to have to travel to Alaska for work every once in a while and said the first few times she went to Anchorage in the winter it surprised her that it was warmer than it was when she left here in Metro Detroit but then she had to go to Fairbanks a few times and said it was miserable. She worked for a natural gas company and said the finance folks (like her) who had to go out to the actual drilling facilities even further north said it was like an entirely different world, no matter the time of year. She was always thankful she rarely had to go to Fairbanks and never further out than that.

Well, the wintry mix has started here. My local forecast is saying 33 degrees all day, and I don't think the ground is cold enough for freezing precipitation to stick so... hoping it's just a cold, wet day.

And so we wait. The schools are closed tomorrow and staff is getting antsy awaiting word if they need to battle the raging blizzard or if they get to sleep in and drink hot coco tomorrow.

Some forecasters are saying 3-9 inches while NOAA is just splitting the difference and saying 6. Regardless, I think it is going to be a mess. Scary thing is based on the temps, it does not look like much melt off until Monday.

EDIT.... and we are closed tomorrow.

Updates here are locally 3-4" of snow, but shouldn't have any sleet or ice.
They've treated the roads here and we'll see what comes in after lunch.

It's 3º here. The tree branches look like they're glazed and it looked misty earlier. My car has some ice droplets on it. Strange for here.

It is the same system that we have right now. They said we would get 3 to 8 inches. We already have 4 to 6 and the increased the possibility of up to 10 to 12 inches.

It is also the very wet stuff since we are around 31 degree so the re-freeze is going to be fun.

I told my kids to wait until after lunch to make a snowman knowing that we will get another few inches by then.

Virtual directors meeting this morning.
