NEVERENDING ♾️ The NEVERENDING Political Discussion Thread

So trumpty dumpty is removing portraits of General Milley from the Pentagon. Reminds me of Stalin making people invisible ("disappeared") during his reign of terror. Lucky us.

Tom Homan is upset that ICE’s raids in Chicago aren’t as bad as they could have been because too many immigrants know their rights.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

...& OBM has rescinded the "no more funding" memo.

Also, Trump's Press Sec noted that the memo was rescended, but the freeze is not going to be: https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5113776-white-house-press-secretary-spending-freeze/

Musk has hired a recent high school grad, a 21-year old with questionable resume, a former Tesla engineer & someone who worked for his AI company as senior level managing OPM (HR) for the federal government.

The buyout memo sent to federal employees was the same (even the title was the same) that President Musk sent out to X/twitter employees in 2022.

How political will the American Airlines crash become ?
Which version will win?

1. Government employees suck and we should privatize everything including transportation safety. Biden left the country in a horrible state.
2. Trump's created so much chaos and froze hiring to already understaffed positions.

Or do we just run with two separate narratives on everything.

I remember when I didn't have to see all the pop ups about all the "breaking news" that seems to occur daily. Maybe tomorrow we won't have breaking news? Just like a nice relaxing Friday?

My local Gannett-owned daily sends out a lot of pushes that don't need to be pushes. "High school sports roundup!"

I'm sure that Musk pushing out the FAA administrator (because he was critical of safety issues with SpaceX) and their efforts with OPM to make employee lives miserable as part of the RAGE strategy (retire all government employees) could not have been a more likely issue. Or human error?

No, let's just start a wildly blind blame game for the sake of it.

Our son worked for Tesla in San Jose and actually liked it. But so glad he is now an electrician in California working on mostly green energy retrofits.

We now have an official White House action regarding DEI and flight safety. https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/immediate-assessment-of-aviation-safety/ (Immediate Assessment of Aviation Safety – The White House)

The figure of the tyrant-monster is known to the mythologies, folk traditions, legends, and even nightmares, of the world; and his characteristics are everywhere essentially the same.
He is the hoarder of the general benefit. He is the monster avid for the greedy rights of "my and mine."The havoc wrought by him is described in mythology and fairy tale as being universal throughout his domain. This may be no more than his household, his own tortured psyche, or the lives that he blights with the touch of his friendship and assistance; or it may amount to the extent of his civilization.
The inflated ego of the tyrant is a curse to himself and his world—no matter how his affairs may seem to prosper.Self-terrorized, fear-haunted, alert at every hand to meet and battle back the anticipated aggressions of his environment, which are primarily the reflections of the uncontrollable impulses to acquisition within himself, the giant of self-achieved independence is the world's messenger of disaster, even though, in his mind, he may entertain himself with humane intentions.
Wherever he sets his hand there is a cry (if not from the housetops, then—more miserably—within every heart): a cry for the redeeming hero, the carrier of the shining blade, whose blow, whose touch, whose existence, will liberate the land.

~Joseph Campbell, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, Page 14

Tennessee Senate Passes Sweeping Immigration Bill,
The toughest sticking point for lawmakers has been a provision of the bill that would charge local elected officials with a Class E felony — punishable by up to six years of jail time and a $3,000 fine — if they support sanctuary city legislation, even though an existing law already bans cities from adopting such a policy.

Tennessee GOP passes immigration law to criminalize elected officials' votes
establishing a new enforcement office exempt from public records law and criminalizing local officials who support sanctuary policies for immigrants.

Tennessee also passed a private school voucher program yesterday that doesn't seem very popular. Even my friends who have kids at private schools or home school were against it. Republican elected officials in East TN that were trying to get disaster relief from Hurricane Helene had basically been told that money for relief wouldn't come unless they got in line on vouchers. The governor somehow has ties to Hillsdale College and has been pushing this for the last few years.

We somehow got on that Hillsdale College mail list, and they burden our paper box with Orwellian opinions by so-called scholars.

Leave it to Trump to mess things up. I just got word that nearly all the labor contractors in the building industry are gone. Our inspectors were at several large project sites today and with the exception of the foreman or two, they were all ghost towns.

One of the foreman mentioned that all of his guys are here legally on visas and such, but just the hassle and processing was enough to scare his crew away.

So we are in it now... but the question is what can we do (LEGALLY) about it? Not asking as a hypothetical question, but a real meaningful inquiry.

Now the Big Orange has caved to opposition from an uppity Mexican woman.

Doesn't that make him a p*ssy?

What if we said President Trump is too old to be President? That he has undisclosed medical issues that impair his ability to lead? That he is erratic? Mentally unstable? Unfit for the job?

What no Yellow Card ?
Nope.

It's about tone and language. All those issues could be addressed in a calm and PG-rated manner.

There seems to be multiple things that Trump has said only to back off. I am wondering if he actually intended to do any of this stuff and used it as a way to get people to the negotiation table. I don't think it is a good way to lead anything, regardless a global superpower.
