Sounds like Hannity was recently already laying the groundwork for excuses on why Trump got beat by Biden in the debate this Thursday. If Biden wins it was because he was jacked up on drugs! Yeah, that's why he was so lucid at the State of the Union address!
 
Is there a way to get back at obnoxious "get out the vote" campaigns? Maybe spoof them online? Report them to the Attorney General? Some tree hugger organization based in California got a hold a list of addresses and sent me a postcard with an ingratiatingly long list of liberal causes that need to be defended this November. My contention is that it should be obvious to them that I am already in the bag because, well, duh, my address is on that tree hugger address list! The postcard I got was such an impotent liberal attempt, naive too, to get out the vote. Like, shouldn't you be focusing your energy and resources at convincing independents to vote and to make sure they vote for liberal causes?! As a liberal, I find a lot of the things liberals do to be so dumb. Dan likes to talk about "feel good planning" and I love that vibe, so for me and the world I live in, I wish I had more people in my circle with a modicum of awareness about the dumb "feel good" politicking that goes on with America's left. It is such a hard thing to watch, especially the part when liberals get sanctimonious about how their approaches to addressing America's problems are vastly superior to anything else out there.

For somebody so concerned about appearances, I always wonder why Trump just looks like a bag of rotten a55holes. IIRC, his suits are custom and primarily by Martin Greenfield (a very well respected tailor and somebody with a very interesting personal backstory, he just died in March and his NYT obit is worth checking out) but everything looks so ill fitting, from his trousers to his jackets to his ties. Yes, he's a big guy with odd proportions but when you're spending that much on custom clothing and have the means to have tailors come to you as needed looking good should be relatively easy.

I have to imagine that a lot of it just comes down to having so much money and constantly surrounding yourself with sycophants and yes-men, everybody in his personal orbit is to afraid to speak up, especially when you're known to be such bully. He thinks he looks good so nobody is going to tell him otherwise.
 
Remember when Stephen Colbert on the Colbert Report, he ran for president as a gag for a bit on his show? That got me thinking, what if I set up a GoFundMe to “challenge the election results” for this year? It would be interesting to do something so blatantly wrong and see who actually donates money. There are a lot of people who would not understand that it is a joke.

Just make sure you put that "satire" statement somewhere on the thing and I think you're clear (not a lawyer). Also, I'm sure there are plenty of gofundme things legitimately set up to challenge the election in my state alone. Final thought...I think birds aren't real is a great conspiracy to link to your challenge. It was the birds who told you the election results were not accurate.
 
In the non-verbal communication department Biden lost last night's debate. I doubt many heard a thing he said. Sad.
 
I saw some of the debate. It was not a great night for Joe Biden, but can you honestly say that Trump was convincing independents to swing his way last night? I know it was a poor performance for the president, and the DNC is about as good at management as Britney Spears' dad, but that is beside the point. Joe Biden was in the senate working for the People most of my life and everybody else's, too. The message is what will matter. Joe Biden is America's uncle.

I worry that he is fading fast. I do. And, I am a registered independent, but Mr. Biden: if you're still in, I'm still in.
 
On the left, you have a mentally unfit president and on the right you have a mentally unfit former president. Either way, we get a mentally unfit president January 2025. Hobson's choice this November.
 
I just saw a poll on the news that says 55% of registered democrat voters say that Biden should remain in the race. However, I wonder how many independents and centrist republicans would vote for a D if it was someone other than Biden?

My teenager wondered aloud today since Jimmy Carter is alive that, theoretically, he could be Biden’s replacement. We had a good laugh at that one! But I said I think he is in hospice, which isn’t a good look if you are running for president.
 
I just don't think there is any coming back from that debate. He looked utterly lost. It's going to be messy but he's got to be replaced. And real soon. You can't run a campaign on hoping Lucid Joe shows up most of the time. The backstage video was horrible. The First Lady was telling him "you answered all the questions" like he was a freaking 5 year old!
 
The local Atlanta fish wrapper, which generally fawns all over the Dems, has joined the NY Times with an op-ed calling for Biden to drop out of the race...
 
The problem with our political parties is that they would rather win with someone who is terrible, then potentially lose with someone who isn't. There is really no excuse for Biden v. Trump except our inability as a country to stand for anything.

The question would be if the D's got the guts and kicked Joe to the curb, would the R's have the guts to do the same? I'm not seeing it.

That is about as damning as you can get from a 6-3 Supreme Court. They are still embarrassing themselves as a court, but that says what the majority of the country feels.
 
I worry too much about politics. I have absolutely no control and little impact on it. My state is going to use its electoral votes for Trump. Doesn't matter who is on the ballot. Whoever has the R behind their name is going to win this state. 85% of states are going to pick a party not a candidate. Biden should have retired. I don't think it really matters whether he stays in or out. I think there is a better chance with him in.

Everyone wants someone different until they new person is named. Kamala would lose some votes (as sad as that is) because she's a woman and not white. Fox will go out and say she was weak on crime as a DA, while also saying she was part of the deep state. They'll start using her middle name to make her sound less American. They'll push how she's untested and may not have the temperament for president (making sure people don't forget she's a woman). They'll remind people that she's black, while also pointing out that she's actually not black enough. The unhinged will note that her husband is Jewish. I'm sure someone will figure out that she actually attended a madrassa and is not actually a US Citizen. /s

The same nit-picking and character attacks will happen whether its her or someone else. Anyone else would lose some votes because they passed over her. A change this late in the game will give AGs in states like Ohio, Florida, and Texas the opportunity to find a way to fix the ballot and say that only Biden can be on it. Whether that's legal or not, I can't imagine it not happening somewhere. Probably in my state, but again it doesn't really matter. If there was a challenge, the Supreme Court would probably find a way to push it until after the election and then say there's nothing we can do about it now.

All the time while reasonable people discuss whether the Biden is fit to be president, we all know that Trump is not. Anyone on the right who has suggested this has been pushed out of prominence. The entire media complex (right, left and center) has questioned Biden's capacity. That doesn't happen to Trump. The right leaning media would never question Trump. Most of the other media tries to be objective or feels like they've already addressed it. It doesn't make national news when trump talks can't remember the names of the people in his cabinet or he talks about electric cars and sharks.

Or perhaps it may also be because she's had almost four years to establish herself and she's essentially been MIA. No doubt there are some bigots out there who were never going to vote for her regardless of anything but they're almost insignificant. I'd say she'd lose votes because people have been waiting for her to do something, anything to give them a reason to vote for her. They're still waiting . . .

I don't know of a vice-president in my lifetime that has established their self during my lifetime. Cheney took care of the dirty work for Bush, but wasn't ever going to go to higher power. Seems like Gore had some initiatives. It didn't really work out for him. H.W. Bush became president, but I don't know what he handled during his term. (I was also 9 when he got elected so.) Biden and Pence were already somewhat established outside of their terms, but they really didn't do much in my memory. In my limited history modern VPs are afterthoughts. In some cases you hope they never have to do anything.

Biden had the worst performance of the debate, but let's not delude ourselves that someone did well. The golf game dialogue was the proof of an all-around crappy debate. There was absolutely no substance to anything either one said.

The phrase "The President is not above the law. But..." should be terribly alarming. The Supreme Court seems to have gone off the rails with most of their recent rulings.

I wonder where the idea of having a strong VP comes from. I know that they use someone that can help offer a wider voting support from their party base, but I cannot think of an instance where the VP really had a strong presence afterwards. Cheney may be the closest, but he was still more or less behind the scenes, and not trying to one-up Bush. VPs have only had a significant role if the president was out of the picture.
 
I don't really care what previous administrations have done. In fact, I think the general apathy toward VP's is evidence that most sitting Presidents don't give two shits about their Veep. But in this case, unless the leaders in the party are blind there should have been actual thought about "how do we make VP Harris a viable candidate?" Maybe by having her actually lead something. Like say immigration policy, get smart people in the room and figure something out. I'm a doer and I respect other doers. Plenty of people can talk, but most don't back it up. That's how I view life, not just politics.
 
...re the "immunity ruling" all I can say is when the court is so deeply and sharply divided, the it is time to turn the "nine" into twelve or more.
 
Really, thinking about the comments of the Special Prosecutor, Robert Hur, ("a forgetful old man") and Thursday night's disaster, should Biden even still be in office right now?
 
I have never donated to a political campaign and never knowingly signed up for any political mailing list for either party or a particular candidate at any level. I cannot recall ever even visiting a website for a politician. Yet, somehow I still get emails and texts from some of the campaigns. Usually, it's from people running for state house/senate seats and the occasional email or text from candidates for the U.S. house or senate. However, ever since the debate last week (and looking back at the time stamps, they began the morning of) have been absolutely inundated with emails and texts asking me to donate to Biden or Trump. I've been getting two or three emails from the Biden campaign each day and a couple texts and though I haven't gotten any emails from the Trump side, I have gotten a ton of texts from "him" and his surrogates.

I know there are some provisions that allow candidates for office to basically ignore some of the anti-spam laws, but this is sort of ridiculous.

That is how Ohio was for a minute when we mattered. Now that we are pretty red, it isn't as bad. I would imagine Michigan, Georgia, and Pennsylvania are rough right now.
 
In Soviet Arizona we just hire "pole watchers" to intimidate capitalist Democrat pig dogs.

Also, not that kind of pole watcher or I would be looking for a job.
 
I got tasked with being a pole watcher for a while in the Marines when we'd conduct urinalysis of students checking in to the School of Infantry coming from boot camp.
