My idiot nephew believes the best gun control is to arm everyone, like give a gun when you turn 16 years old.

I asked him what he thought of 'red flag' laws. He said he didn't know what those were but if it doesn't allow guns, they're bad.

He's 22.

I think that you will see that more and more as there are more and more extremists antigun idiots who want to ban all guns. That is why I am so excited about the gun regulations that are before the senate right now. They are practical, reasonable, and might actually make a real difference.

Herschel Walker thinks there's 52 states.

He could run a football for bubba's school, but that doesn't qualify to do anything in politics.

The only way to stop a bad politician with an executive order is a good politician with an executive order.

I am hoping more people wear strap ons around, I mean might as well bring out all the fetishes. Why should the gun fetishists have all the fun?

Words can't even describe the insurmountable amount of rage I feel right now. I'm going to outright say WE ARE FUCKED without any *,<.

I knew that the day that Ginsburg died that that would truly be the end. No more 5-4 decisions with Roberts going either way. The fact that a monster like Trump (and his pissboy McConnell) was able to reshape the Supreme Court in less than four years will have an everlasting legacy that will take decades to undo. In fact, I don't think the damage will ever be undone. We truly are fucked as a country.

But this is just the beginning. The real horror show will take place within the next 6 months and the next two years as the far right, emboldened by the striking of New York's gun ban and now this, will inflict untold levels of mayhem and carnage.

A sad day seeing 4 unabashed liars who all called Roe established precedent in their confirmation hearings, 3 of whom were confirmed after the theft of Garland's seat, destroying the fundamental rights of women in this country. I fear this is only the beginning.

I absolutely agree. I fear that personal rights for several people, not just females, are under attack right now, which convinced me to change my user name and my new profile pic.

Would turn heads in the Candy Kitchen.

My avatar stands.

Sadly the only person that will have rights when this is done is me, a middle aged white guy. The one person who doesn't need more rights.

This is a time when I really hate being a public employee and the restrictions that come with that employment. I really want to express my feelings, but I know I can’t because some people will try to attribute them to my employer. The rule is right, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t frustrating.

I hear you but this restraint only appears to exist in certain groups of public workers.

Seems like police, fire and public works employees often ignore this…in my experience.

Justice Thomas better watch what he’s saying as Loving v Virginia is also predicated on the same precedent as Roe. (Loving v. VA removed interracial marriage bans)

I went to my local public library today to pick up a copy of Get What’s Yours. I can apply for SS in a couple years OMG! So surreal.

Anyway while there I perused the “conservative” book section and took out 10 offensive titles and checked them out. I plan to keep them out of circulation dumped in my trunk for as long as possible. Maybe lose a few by the New Year. Juvenile I know but small acts of revenge does a body good.

President signed the gun bill into law today. I applaud both sides for passing a reasonable step forward.

Had a conversation with a local police officer and he mentioned some things about the Zimmerman case in FL and how the law there is different than in most other states. Apparently If that happened anywhere else, he could have been convicted.

As a liberal, I have so many questions.

Nope nope nope. Do. Not. Do. This.

As a child of two retired Michigan public library directors, I think you are acting just as bad as those on the other side of the ‘aisle’.

You do not have a right to take away others’ public access to speech and information.

Return these materials right away.

I hear your point. Jesse Watters and Sean Spicer thank you.
Do you?

Authoritarianism can be left or right.

Are you assuming that no liberals in your community want access to that publicly paid for information to understand the ‘other’ side?

That’s my point.

You’re right!

Guess I’ll return the titles

Liberalism: Or how to turn good men into whiners weenies and wimps
Liberalism is a mental Disorder
Triggered How the Left survives on hate and wants to demonize us.

Playing fair yanno?

Also these titles are all in the libraries catalog if someone wants to check out a copy they can request a hold for it at which point any auto renewals are suspended.

You’re missing the point. Especially since you implied you want to ‘lose’ them.

Well I admit Im not going to trash them, but I feel like it. And where is the liberalism section at the library.l! Probably in the pop pyshology woo woo section or at the reference desk under guard.

The concern of potential favoritism by your public library is a legitimate concern.

Sounds like you need to interact politically with your public library leadership (staff and/or board).

Good point! I fully support the misssion of our library coop, I vote for it in our townships/county millage renewals that support it. It could be this one branch that prominently displays this trash propaganda I know the township supervisor next door is actively trying to cancel their community library and run for state legislature too.

Sad.

Is there a liberal section or an anti-conservative section at the library?

What are your thoughts on what happened at the Arizona State House?

I may be in the minority, but I don't think protest or marching ever does anything. I prefer actual voting or fundraising to help get people to vote.

Unless you are all about crowd size (not naming anyone), the size of the protest or the direction of the march, doesn't really impact anything beyond making those who are protesting or marching feel as though they have a support system (which isn't inherently bad). In the end though, even if they intend them to be peaceful, protest and marching leads to lots of very amped up people coming together, which can lead to lots of trouble.

So, what are my thoughts on what happened? I think they were wrong. They went too far and in the end didn't accomplish anything, but look bad for their cause. If they breached the State House and broke laws, they should be held accountable and imprisioned or fined if that is the law. We should hold all people accountable for their actions, no matter their political party.

I’ve been searching keywords, tags, and authors looking for liberal and conservative titles, and as far as I can tell the far right titles are out numbering the left. And the conservative titles by far are screaming for liberal blood from the likes Gaetz, Jordan, D’Souza. Really some of the titles are so inflammatory. This is not George Will or GW Bush territory.

Didn’t AOC write a book? She’s not in the stacks.

Agree.

SO what's the red/blue breakdown of your community?

For the most part, I agree with you. The one thing that I am not 100% with you is sometimes, I think that protesting or marching might make a difference in that it helps to encourage those who might not have voted to actually do so.

What concerns me is that we see more and more of these protests become destructive for various reasons. Obviously the January 6th situation took it to a whole new level that I would consider as domestic terrorism. But anytime there is destruction of property, people should be held responsible. We had protests here locally, and there were no issues.

Her book is not available at our library, but there are at least 10 books about her that are available.

Our 'Murica loving legislature legalized fireworks and now the City is paying big bucks for overtime fireworks spotters. Own it.
Fireworks are illegal in Illinois though they don't seem to do much enforcement of people actually using them. The local park a block from my house has quite the amateur display every year, with fireworks going off on multiple baseball diamonds at once.
