In Breaking News: Rudy's got the 'Rona
And he has been on the trail without a mask for the last week... so let's say he got it roughly 5 days ago... how many people was he around? It is terrible how they are putting people at risk...

Rep C.A. Johnson came off looking very nice on SNL. In real life, the representative has been receiving death threats, insults, the n-word, and more.
A rep who didn't get parodied is a buddy who told Rudy that we could hear the witness just fine (when he suggested that she remove her mask "so we can hear you"). He also told that same witness that we are not required to show a photo ID to vote, which she didn't know while she was checking in AV voters.

I know I've seen the scenario presented by the "kidnappers" in a film or TV show. Anyone able to track it back? Monty Python?

What are you going to do then?
:clueless looks, thinking:
We'll ... YELL at her!

Can I file a suit over people wasting the courts time and my taxpayer dollars on stupid lawsuits?

Yep - that's us. Our AG is under FBI investigation, and this is how he spends his time.

I thought our Gov was not great, and our Lt. Gov. bad, but our AG is worse than I thought.

Sure, Trump's supporters $170 million dollar slush fund will pay for it.
This bothers me. I understand if you have the money to give to a party to further their candidates... but why is anyone giving money to Trump at this point? Why not the RNC so they can fund all candidates?

My guess is that the RNC is still really scared that Trump with torpedo them if they cross him at all. I think once Trump is out of power it is going to be interesting to see how large scale republican institutions are going to handle him, as they likely aren't going to baby him like they do now. If he really is a billionaire, they should let him fund his 2024 campaign. Why would anyone give a billionaire money to run for government when they are able to self finance...?

My gut feeling is that the issue is that so much of their base still really likes him. I don't think it's necessarily Trump they're afraid of - it's alienating their bases.

NO. Not Texas. A single person, the Texas AG, who by the way is facing corruption charges and shouldn't even be in office.

WTH is Texas doing ?

The reactions from the GOP in Georgia to this have been mixed and, ah, interesting, and they highlight a deepening rift within the party at the state level...should make for an interesting gubernatorial race in a couple of years.

The Supreme Court said an very strong NO to the GOP, even with 3 tRump judges. Yet they're still crying & will be for years. Sad.

Here is the Texas AG's Supreme Court filing

And here is DT motion

The Supreme Court has set a deadline of 3 p.m. Thursday for the four states to file a response...

Because they are delusional, just like all those idiots that would send their life savings to Jim Bakker and Jerry Falwell. Only this time the stakes are so much higher.

Actually, the constitutional basis cited in the article,
“The faith of the people of Texas stands pledged to the preservation of a republican form of government, and, subject to this limitation only, they have at all times the inalienable right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think expedient.”
is flawed. Sure, they have the right to alter their (state) government, but they cannot unilaterally alter the federal government or their relationship to it. So basically this is a public show and little more.

Even if there was a referendum on Texit (see what I did there?), when push comes to shove the business interests would not support it. It would be too disruptive. This comes up every so often and last time it did I checked and about 10% of the state economy is direct federal support of military bases and defense contractors. Removing that much money from the economy would put the fledgling national Texas economy in a tailspin.

Yeah, and the legality of this whole issue of secession was decided in 1865.

Preczactly. But it's something that gets discussed every few years around here, every time someone gets their political panties in a knot.

Mayor Pete for Transportation Secretary!

Buttigieg impressed me in the primaries, here's to hoping he can help articulate a new urban transportation agenda at the national level.

Remember when there was talk at the beginning of Trump's presidency for a bipartisan infrastructure bill? That feels like a lifetime ago, but I have to wonder what the political climate would have looked like today if that had remained a priority at least up until COVID...

Residents in Palm Beach sent a ‘Demand Letter’ to the city council citing tRump’s 3 decade old agreement with the city when he turned Mar-a-Lago from a residence to a club. The agreement prohibits anyone living there for more than 21 days in a year & 7 consecutive days.

Also there also this -
The 1993 Palm Beach agreement isn’t the only document that raises questions about whether Trump can legally live at Mar-a-Lago. He also signed a document deeding development rights for Mar-a-Lago to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a Washington-based, privately funded nonprofit organization that works to save historic sites around the country. As part of the National Trust deal, Trump agreed to “forever” relinquish his rights to develop Mar-a-Lago or to use it for “any purpose other than club use.”

Here is a link to the 1993 document

And is local article with details

It has been a while and I have not posted since before the election, so I thought I would share my thoughts regarding the results.

I think more and more people are getting out of a party mentality and voting mixed ticket, which is a wonderful thing. Biden beat Trump, but the Democrats lost seats in Congress. The Senate might be a toss up. In NC, the democrat Governor was re-elected, a republican deputy governor was elected, a republican state supreme justice was elected, and the republican senator was also elected.

I voted for members of 3 different parties (R,L,D) and while I still think that Joe Biden is a sleepy corrupt politician, Trump is worse. But neither of them got my vote. I pray for Biden's health because Harris's extremist liberal views scare the crap out of me. There are some political views that Trump and I agree on, but he is not a good person and he does not know how to lead.

There is very little at the federal level that I have faith in anymore. The Presidential election cost around $14 billion dollars for us to pick from the bottom of the barrel. Just think of all the better things that money could have been spent on.

There is speculation that Trump will not attend the inauguration of Biden, but instead hold a Trump 2024 campain rally at the same time. I pray that the Republican's are able to find better candidates than him for the next election. If anything to prevent us from having to go through all that crap again in 4 years.

In terms of the electoral college, I still strongly believe it needs to be retained, but strongly revised. In addition to what I said before (Fair congressional districts free of gerrymandering, each district gets one vote, state's popular vote gets the 2 senate votes) and the mandatory requirement that the electoral vote goes to the candidate that one that district (or popular vote for the 2 senate votes). The reason for this is a 3D map that I saw that shows not only where people voted, but the areas were elevated off the map based on the volume of votes. Urban centers towered over rural areas. If we go to a popular vote, the people in rural area might as well stay home because their thoughts and positions will never get represented outside of their community. If you think we have an oligarchy now, just wait, national popular vote will actually make that much worse.

My opinion is that f-face (that is all I call him) relishes the thought of video of him being removed from the White House. Ironically his base has little money.

They scare the bejesus out of me too!! Kamala = Cop and 1312 all day every day. There is perhaps no other Black woman walking this earth who is more responsible for mass incarceration than Kami. She is NOT a supporter of Medicare for All, she is NOT against our endless wars, she is NOT for any sort of "lift all boats" policies whatsover and is indeed a LIBERAL extremist, Liberal meaning 100% pro-Corporation 100% of her time. Her being president would be like having Bezos in the White House and UBER in control of the DOJ.

I agree, as a Socialist, with Trump on many tenets of foreign and domestic policy; End these failed wars, stop policing the world, the CIA, FBI and "Deep State" are NOT your friend and the 2nd amendment is absolutley sacred. But none of these positions of convivence Trump espouses are benevolently motivated and his abysmal institutional Racism and disregard for the rule of law far outweigh what little glimmers of hope his presidency offered to the Anti-Imperialist movement. Trumpism is a dangerous form of modern fascism and I do not lament his defeat, unlike Jimmy Dore :p

I implore everyone to listen to the Katie Halper Show and Chapo Trap House.

Also, Pete Buttgauge is a snake-tongued CIA Agent and Corporate Operative who has absolutley no business being Transportation secretary. He was promised a cabinet position to drop out of the Primary, when Obama made a few phonecalls last spring. Everyone who works or has worked for McKinsey & Co. should be prosecuted under the RICO act, my humble opinion.

I have to say this is very well executed parody. The whole rhyming couplets thing reminiscent of Dr. Suess has been done to death on every topic imaginable, but this particular example stands out as it's not simply rhyming couplets but actually emulates Suess' style very closely. kudos!

@michaelskis - Kamala is the most non-liberal Democrat they could have found, it's laughable when anyone says Biden/Harris is a radical combination, total snooze-ville - as Terminator said, she's a cop so the BLM folks don't like her and all that other stuff he said about her is completely accurate

Having said that, I think we need a moderate democrat like Biden/Harris to attempt to center the country - as much fun it would be to see what the progressives will do, and I am so ready for the next generation to take over, I think we needed a slow steady hand to clean up the joint - like the adult in the room kind of thing

You are an honourary millennial!!!

Biden / Harris will be very consistent. They will not be anything like the last 4 years. I had a planner who worked for me who was very disappointed that the Democrats elected moderates. I get that. I think though for our country we need to accept that those who get elected should be moderate. I think it would be just as bad for our country to have someone like AOC elected (I know she isn't of age, I am making a point ;)). We need politicians who are able to work with people they disagree with, not put them on blast and attack them.

Although politicians that are moderate are usually hated in their time, McCain is a perfect example, when looking back, everyone, usually on both sides of the aisle, remember them fondly and positively. That can't be said about those who are very much about their party, and pushing strong policies that for whatever reason, a large portion of the county doesn't agree with.

Incremental change. That is what we should all be hoping for. Take small steps in the right direction. Huge leaps are not attainable in the environment that we find ourselves in.

Also, I love Pete Buttegieg. If he is a CIA operative, then I like him more, because man he is good at that too. The idea that someone can't try and make money, or work for a company that is large or they can never do anything else, is silly. We continue to create these little boxes that everyone must live within. Everyone is different. Everyone should be different. If we all held the same worldview or lived the same life, this world would be worse. We are better because we are different. We are better because we all share the same world with different views.

I can tell you have to reach pretty deep into the bowels of Hell to find anything lower than this seditious human excrement. The problem is they both represent the deepest red parts of Ohio (thanks to Gerrymandering). They could literally say they raped a five year old child and still get re-elected.
