AbsoFREAKINGlutely there is voter fraud going on with the Democratic side of the election. There is proof everywhere from pictures to videos. Hell, Bill Clinton himself was INSIDE of a Massachusetts polling area while they were open shilling for Hilary. Wasserman Schultz has gone on record saying some very incriminating things. It's not a theory, it is fact. Bernie should be at least equal to Hilary, if not past her by now.

Now Trump, no way he's winning because of voter fraud. He's winning fair and square which is hilarious. The GOP would rather have allegations of fraud floating out there so they can justify Trump's massive lead somehow.

Sure, it would not surprise me that there is still voter fraud out there.

What complicates things even further, however, is the complicated (and some would argue corrupt) delegate process on both sides. Like, how does Cruz win states like Colorado without even giving the people a chance to vote? I hate the caucus systems too. Like how did Cruz win Maine, while Trump won in a landslide in every other Northeast state? (hint, it's because the insider party elders decided Maine, not the people). And what's with the dems and their stupid superdelegate process? IMO, every state should be one man, one vote, and the delegates should either be awarded in a winner-take-all or proportional allocation, across the board. However, we live in a republic where every state is different. And I still believe local control is better. But when you're deciding things at the federal level, I tend to feel like all states should play by the same rules.

I keep hearing more and more that a lot of Bernie supporters may indeed vote for Trump if Hillary gets the nomination. People just do not like her.

Meanwhile, more and more Republicans seem to be uniting behind Trump. You know that's happening when people like Jon Huntsman start getting behind him. (http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/huntsman-donald-trump)

It will be interesting to see how all this plays out.
 
Folks complaining about the primary system and how it's unfair, unethical, fraud, undemocratic, etc. need to remember that the primaries are designed by the committees of each party in the individual states. If you are an independent and upset that your vote isn't counted in a Democratic primary in a closed state, it's on you. You had the opportunity to go and register as an R or a D in order to take part in the R or D primary. The rules for who can participate have been available for weeks, months, or years (depending on the state).

I'm not saying the primary system is perfect (or even good) and couldn't be improved with some simplification or maybe some state-to-state consistency but I don't think I would call it unfair and complain about the rules after the fact because you don't like the results.

Bottom line: if you want to take part in the primary being held by the Republican or Democratic party, you need to play by their rules.

Honestly, I'm glad. That guy is probably worse than Trump. At least Trump will act in his own selfish interest--Cruz was far more dangerous IMHO. Of course, this is like choosing between a turd sandwich & a turd hot dog.

I haven't been more pleased about a candidate getting out. Ted Cruz would be a horrible leader of our country. I am pleased. Now what we are left with is quite.... interesting....

Here is what will happen. Neither Trump nor Hillary will get the full majority of the electoral college or more than 50% of the popular vote. Gary Johnson will come in 3rd. The house will have to pick, but the each state will get one vote. Since the Republicans will still control the majority of the states (but maybe not the majority of the house) they will more or less get to decide. They will have to pick from the top 3 popular vote getters. They won't vote for Clinton, and there is no love for Trump. So they will elect Gary Johnson president despite him getting around 15% of the popular vote. The Senate will get to pick the VP. They will choose Clinton.

Trump may get Ohio and North Carolina, but he is going to lose Florida and Virginia and Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. And that is all that matters.

Also, please don't tell me California and New York are in play because Trump is so inspirational and different, blah, blah. He is better than Cruz, but when it comes to picking, he still isn't palatable to most people. Hence his absolutely horrible likability rankings.

After he gave his stump speech in Louisville last evening, which my daughter watched from about 20' away, Bernie came to my fair city and visited folks in a local restaurant and gave a victory speech on the steps if the public library. Yay my city!:h:
 
NPR's love of Hillary Clinton is painful. Their interview with Bernie Sanders this morning was basically the same question asked multiple ways - "Why won't you get out of the race?".

I think we will see an interesting couple months, as the republican elite walk back their hatred of Trump. Some may not, which leads to less people voting. Less people voting = democratic win. Not sure how the Republican party is going to make this work for them. Trump is a pretty hard sell. Particularly when he is even attacking conservative writers like George Will.

This should be fun.

100 days. If they don't impeach him, I think he will quit because no one will want to work with him and he will get nothing approved by Congress. However, that does not sound like such a bad thing now that I say it.

It depends on who gets power in Congress. I believe that Trump is the best of the two likely candidates, simply because he won't be able to do a damn thing. Clinton will throw every shady trick in the book to get her stuff passed through, no matter what power balance lies in Congress. I really believe Clinton is more likely to get the impeachment trial than Trump if the GOP retains control.

I immediately thought that Trump would resign a year into it and put the VP in as soon as he said he is seeking a presidently qualified person as his VP nomination.


If a similar congress is still in control and Hillary is elected, they will go after her tooth & nail for impeachment about Benghazi.

Nope. Gary Johnson won't win a single state and won't command enough of the popular vote in each state to break a majority for one of the regular parties. The plurality winner of a state receives all of the electoral votes for that state. Electoral votes won't be a problem. Remember, the structure of the Electoral College and winner-take-all electoral votes by state (well, 48 of them anyway) is a big reason we remain a 2-party system.

I don't think Trump can be elected--I think he'll lose in somewhat of a landslide. Demographics matter, and I think a lot of folks may sit out this election. I expect record low turnout for a Presidential election.

Trump won't resign. It may be lame duck for four years, but resignation ain't happening with him.

Trump won't be impeached or receive an impeachment conviction to remove from office. Neither will Clinton.

You are going to see a lot of down-ballot impact from Trump damaging the GOP brand--enough that it could flip a chamber.

I just read a story about a tow-truck driver who is a Trump supporter who refused to tow a car because of a Bernie sticker. He says that he has had issues with two other Bernie supporters who did not want to pay their bill.

Personally, I don't think that is cool, but it is even less cool because she was a disabled woman.

It's even less cool that he calls himself a Christian. A true Christian would have helped no matter what. He says he was drawing a line in the sand. What line? To not do your job? To not help people who support a different political candidate? I always hated the WWJD stickers when I was a kid, but it's so appropriate now. WWJD, not that.

I view any business that wears religion on its sleeve with a great deal of suspicion. If the thing you advertise is a Jesus fish on your vehicle or on your business card, that tells me that the rest of your work isn't good enough to brag about or that you pray on people's trust in a "fellow Christian." It should not be the basis of a business plan or marketing plan.

Amen brother! :D I never thought Jesus would be cool with someone trading on his name. When I lived in another city there was a business called "Jesus is Lord Window Tinting"! Which always surprised me because I figured most people were getting dark window tinting so God and everybody COULDN'T see what they were doing!

I do too, but I fully support any business who chooses to practice in this type of terrible business plan because that's their right. For every business that refuses service to homesexuals or some other group, 25 more pop up willing to go above and beyond to help them.

That is why the only sticker that I am willing to put on my Truck is the american flag. Other than that, I don't want to advertise anything else about me.

Correct. The only sticker you'll see on the back of my car is a "Look Twice Save a Life" motorcycle awareness sticker.

If I see someone with a lot of stickers on their car, I tend to put them in the "probably a crazy person" category and "probably easily offended person" category.
 
So the DOJ issued a deadline to North Carolina to repeal or stop enforcing HB2 by Monday. From what I've read, it's unclear as to what happens if NC misses (or as it appears refuses) to comply with the deadline. It seems like the feds might pull a vast amount of education money, and I suspect that's just the tip of the iceberg. :-@

I'm currently in an argument with some Facebook warriors about the actual job of an Attorney General. They want to argue that by refusing to defend the bill he is not doing his job. I respectfully disagree. Eric Holder stated in a speech in 2014 during the country wide Attorney General's conference regarding state's definition of marriage. In that speech, he clearly stated that it is within the legal authority and right of an attorney general to refuse to defend a bill or statue when that law has questionable constitutionality. HB 2 very clearly has questionable constitutionality and the DOJ seems to agree. I feel that Cooper's choice to not defend the bill and subsequent law is very clearly within the purview of his rights as Attorney General and in fact serves to protect North Carolina from long drawn out legal fights (IE misuse of taxpayer funds) over a law that will stand absolutely no chance at standing under federal scrutiny.

Does his letter indicate that his department will not be enforcing the law though? I can't really tell. I would disagree that enforcement of the law should cease. The law is the law regardless of it's questionable legality and must be enforced until otherwise directed by the General Assembly of North Carolina or a federal court judge. The Attorney General does not pick and choose what laws they enforce. Cooper's decision is not driven by any personal disagreement with the law either. He has defended and has enforced NC voter ID law even though he is on record stating his personal disapproval of the law. Cooper has been our AG since 2001, through three governors (all three arguably felonious in their actions). Clearly he is doing something right.

Sadly Kansas so resembles that remark. They have a great school system that the state is trying to defund. We are trying hard to become Alabama.

I felt it was pandering (certainly), but really tacky. Especially the part about Americanized "Mexican" food available at one of his buildings... just tacky. I want to meet someone positively swayed by this.
 
And here we go. The Gov of NC has filed a lawsuit against the federal government regarding HB2 instead of a response regarding the claims that the bill violates the civil rights act.

I think this will end up before SCOTUS before it is over.

This is so exceptionally dumb.

If I ever run for state office in Texas, I'm going to make an argument that I'm more conservative because I'll spend less money filing expensive lawsuits that are sure-losses like these. I don't think GOP voters fully appreciate how expensive these types of legal battles are, the amount of outside counsel involved, etc.

He's in too deep and he can't back out now. He's hoping to use the feds as an excuse to dodge the blame for the whole thing. Governor Cooper has a nice ring to it though.

The R legislature is hoping this will also bring out the conservative vote in the state during the federal election that might have stayed home. This is some backassward thinking, which I get is how they think it works. BTW-they can't gerrymander the federal voting into carefully drawn district lines.

I know a R state house member and I won't say he is scared, but he doesn't like the direction and feels it will ultimately cost many votes. Another R I know in the senate doesn't give a sh!t and is in full steam ahead mode...and you can even hold a conversation with him anymore.

In November, I know several conservative leaning people who will not be voting R for the Gov. I am still up in the air on all my votes. If Gary Johnson was prolife, I would vote for him for Pres... But he's not so I am not sure what I should do.
