I get the feeling after they lose they'll restructure, but won't focus enough on getting viable candidates. You keep losing because you give us losers.

If Trump gets the nomination and wins the election, the GOP will still think of it as a loss because he is not one of their people.

Clinton won't result in much discernible change either. What worries me most with her is how much she is "handled;" everything she does comes off as having underlying motive. Too much polish. I don't think it is her though--I think it is her advisors. She gets my vote though in the General Election, because the things said by Trump & Cruz can't be unsaid.

Clinton's ability will come down 100% to local elections. Keep in mind that the ENTIRE House is up for re-election. The power could shift dramatically. Senate has 34 seats for reelection, with only a 54 seat majority for the GOP right now. Of the 65 remaining senators who aren't up for reelection, 35 are Dems and 30 are Republicans. Although a slim chance, the Senate power could shift too. Democrats swoon over Hilary so if the entire assembly shifts to the democratic side, she will be one of the most powerful presidents in years. Her domestic policies aren't anything that would really cause concern. They are standard boilerplate democratic stuff. Nothing new. Her influence in the international community is terrifying though. Her time as SoS was an unmitigated disaster, and Bengazi was completely her fault. Hell, ISIS/ISIL roots can basically be traced back to her decision as SoS to fund Libyan rebels to overthrow Gaddafi.

I'm also concerned with how much respect Hilary would retain as Commander in Chief. Her email scandal directly undermines her security clearance and really shows to our troops how much she gives a shit about things like that.

With Trump, no matter how the local elections go and which side holds the majority in House/Senate, he gets nothing major done because both sides despise him. Hell, if anything, Trump could help eliminate bipartisanship in Congress as both sides unite to stop a common enemy.

I think people who have never handled sensitive and classified information often place waaaaayyyy too much importance on something being designated as classified, secret, top secret, SCI... There has been a serious problem with bloat in the military and federal government in terms of giving everything some sort of sensitive classification when in reality much of it isn't needed at all. It's a culture of CYA that has grown over the past few decades (and has been going on long before 9/11) - people producing and handling the information over classify it because they are concerned with somebody who is not them or those in their direct chain handing it, not to mention to make themselves and others with a clearance seem more important. The Pentagon and the DoD have been producing reports on the topic for a while now urging those who produce the materials to be more judicious in assigning the initial classifications because overly classified documents often cause more headaches than they should when somebody needs to handle them who doesn't have the "proper" clearance so either the work gets backed-up while waiting for a clearance to be approved or the person is given the documents/information anyway and then multiple people get in trouble.

In the end, 99 times out of a hundred, cases of mishandling classified information (which is essentially what Clinton could be liable for) are blown way out of proportion and adjudicated with what amounts to a slap on the wrist. I think it's telling that General Petraeus, a darling of the Right, barely receives any punishment for knowingly handing over his classified personal journals (with details on troop movements and future plans and operations) to a reporter he was having an affair with while congress and most of the military brass barely bat an eye.

The email server thing is making a mountain out of a molehill.

Glad to hear that then. I'm really basing what I think after my father. He's held a high security clearance for many years. He worked cryptology for the Navy for a long time. He's still pissed about the email thing, but I guess looking back to it, he's not THAT pissed off.

Cruz pick Fiorina as his VP pick. Just another reason not to elect him. Yikes he is really bad at this politics thing.

Lots of fun with the #woman_card

Somehow I missed him winning the nomination. Congrats to him.

Yes, normally they pick running mates after winning the nomination. Seems it was a desperate ploy on his part to steal the spotlight for 15 minutes following his loss in 5 states and otherwise having to spend the entire next week contending with the media's "things are lookinig mighty grim Mr. Cruz.... why do you think you lost 5 in a row?"

But Cruz is like Reagan... he picks his VP early. REAGAN! Isn't that how you win at politics? Just yell REAGAN!

About the same as his economic policy, but that doesn't mean that we don't look back in affection and ignore what really happened. ;)

The theme of the 1976 GOP Convention was "Make America Great Again". Sounds familiar...

The campaign trinket/paraphernalia vendors are setting up on the street before 8 am.

People are lined up already to get into the theater.

Cruz's oops

In Indiana, in the Gym where the classic movie "Hoosiers" was filmed, and calling it a basketball "ring" :-c :lmao:

I know this is likely to get political so I am going to post this in here. A school that has a shooting range is a great way to teach gun safety.

SMITHFIELD, NC (WTVD) -- Students at Smithfield Selma High School take aim and fire at a shooting range located on school grounds. When they're done, they wash their hands to get the traces of lead off.

They use air rifles to shoot pellets, not bullets, in the small, four-lane, indoor shooting range. The air rifle marksmanship program is part of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at the high school.

The school participates in the Civilian Marksmanship Program, a program that promotes "firearms safety, and marksmanship training for citizens with an emphasis on youth."

As you could have guessed, I think this is awesome and hope that they expand the program to all interested students. I firmly believe that the two biggest issues with guns in this country is a lack of education regarding guns and a lack of respect for guns. This is a way for highschool students to learn both.

What are your thoughts?

I like it. I agree with you 100%. Everyone who is able to purchase a weapon legally in this country should be required to be certified in some sort of gun safety program. Video games and general media have desensitized the majority of Americans as to how dangerous guns really are, even when used in educated hands.

I think it would be nice to see a high school shop glass introduce gunsmithing too.

That is the exact reason that when people ask me what gun they should buy, I tell them they should take a class first.

It is set up with JROTC, which makes sense. My only question is the ability to make greater use of the space--I don't like limited purpose spaces in public buildings and want their utilization to be maximized.

So what I would propose, in addition to the JROTC program, is that the school actually create a shooting sports program (based on the shooting sports Olympic events) to enhance the use. That would bring in rifle, pistol & shotgun (shotgun might be hard since it is an outdoor skeet event), and you could also adapt for archery. Several of the Olympic shooting sports use air rifles and air pistols anyway. I imagine USA Shooting & USA Archery would be very interested in helping to fund & start a pilot program like this.

Chalk me up as another who doesn't have a problem with the marksmanship program at the school. As long as it's voluntary, well supervised, teaches respect and proper safety techniques, and doesn't try to push a political agenda onto the students it's fine by me. It's probably much more comprehensive and more safety-minded than what a lot of kids would get at home.

John Boehner, please tell us how do you really feel?

Not so nice words. :-c :-o 8-! :lmao:

Not a bad idea. They made smart use of their resources to teach kids and did it without turning it into some political football to promote gun culture. It's just a class and it teaches kids. They could even go further and teach some hunting safety and other related stuff.

When I was in Jr. High there was a class, outdoor rec, that used the state's DNR program to teach hunter's safety, boaters safety, and Snowmobile safety. I think I still have my little certificate cards someplace. For some kids, it was the first time they saw a real gun. This was decades ago and it was a hunting rifle, but it was used to teach kids how to be safe around firearms.

I like that Boehner has a personality now. Cruz says he doesn't even know Boehner. Well obviously. You guys clearly are not friends....

Maybe it's just me, but I suspect Ted Cruz has known a LOT of Boehners in his life (gonna have to read it as it looks rather than it's pronounced to get the joke...).

But Rafael Theodore Cruz was John Boehner's lawyer back in 1998, so he does know him in more ways than just Senate floor relationship.

So there was violence at a Trump rally last night. But the question I have is who caused it? Yes there have been Trump supporters that have caused issues, there is no question about that. But I have also seen reports that Trump supporters have been on the receiving end of the violence too. So I wonder, who's fans is it? Bernie's, Ted's, John's, or Hill's?

I suspect that the folks who start the violence aren't affiliated with anyone and just like to get violent for no reason.

I thought he picked Fiorina...

When that woman cries her tears run down the back of her head to avoid her face!

She's no Sarah Palin or brat doll posted by AG, but I think Teddy's got some perv wanna hit that vibe goin' on.

FYI, McCain's got a big time perv vibe. Ladies beware of the hands.

NOT ME ! I was not in California last night.

Tell us how many police incidents occur because of the visit.
only 1 person was arrested - a woman for mooning.

I'm pretty sure Donald Trump could drop trou at a rally and take a big steaming dump on a Cruz or Clinton sign and still win that state by an absolute landslide.

A friend who is a Bernie supporter posted an op-ed about how Clinton is committing voter fraud and that the exit poll data shows that Bernie should have won many of the states that he lost by a small margin.

I am not going to post the article but it does bring up some interesting discussion idea. Mainly do you think that there is voter fraud out there and that the voting machines are hacked? Do you think that Clinton is legitimately winning these states? What about Trump?
