Hi everyone,
I'm beginning my grad school applications for a masterās in Urban/City/Regional Planning and could really use some guidance.
A bit about me: I have a bachelorās degree in Architecture with a good GPA that meets the minimum requirements for the schools Iām interested in. My undergraduate thesis is solid, and Iāve done well on the IELTS. I also have a strong writing background, with several articles published online, as well as internships focused on research and writing. On top of that, I have a few papers completed that are currently in the process of being submitted for review for publication.
Iām targeting Fall 2025, and from what Iāve seen, most universities have waived the GRE for that cycle. However, after researching on platforms like Quora, Facebook, and Reddit, some people suggest that the GRE is still important for securing fully funded RA positions, which is crucial for me as an international student needing financial support.
So, my question is: Should I take the GRE to increase my chances of landing funding, or should I focus more on strengthening other aspects of my application like my SOP, recommendation letters, and portfolio?
Iād really appreciate any advice or insights!
