Small Countertop Appliances

Some years ago, my wife had a bit of an addition to small countertop appliances. We had waffle irons, Foreman Grills, ice cream maker, 2 toasters, a toaster oven, a rotisserie, a bread maker, a frozen pizza oven, an electric skillet, an electric frying pan, , a blender, a citrus juicer, a vegetable juicer, a dicer/chopper thing, a crockpot, and several more that I am likely forgetting.

Some of them got used more than others. When we moved, the only things we didn't get rid of was a toaster, the electric skillet, and the crockpot.

What small countertop appliances do you have? Do you have some that you never use?




*Please note, that this does not include the coffee maker... it is not an appliance because it is an essential. The world would not rotate without it.
 
Toaster, popcorn maker, blender, Cuisinart, kitchen aid, and I'm sure there is something missing.

The most entertaining is the air popper for popcorn. I start making a batch and the kids come running. They like it when I take the lid off near the end and popcorn flies up in the air. Also when I think it's done and shut it off, there always seems to be one more kernel to pop. Then I have to give them the first batch and make my own.
 
Sits on the counter all the time:
Foreman grill, bagel toaster, Panini maker, coffee bean grinder (specific to our coffee maker), and the coffee maker

Pull out when needed:
Toaster oven, blender, juicer, crock pot

We got rid of duplicates and unused items when we moved. I think it was about 2 boxes full of just unused stuff.
 
On counter:

On the counter - mixer.

In a cabinet - toaster, blender, food processor, coffee maker, toaster and waffle iron.

Mski's, where did your wife store all those? There's an appliance for just about anything you want to cook, but I have no idea where people store them. I won't buy an appliance if I can complete the task with the kitchen utensils and cookware I already have.
 
Countertop - toaster oven & Mrs. P's coffee maker
Cabinets - 2 crockpots (1 large & 1 small), 1960s Hamilton Beech mixer, hand-held mixer, blender, toaster & Cuisinart
 
The only thing we keep on the counter all the time is a toaster. Our other countertop appliances:

KitcheAid stand mixer
Electric griddle
Bread machine
Three different waffle makers (my wife insists we need all different types :r: )
George Foreman grill
Crockpot
Blender/food processor
Popcorn maker

The electric griddle gets used all the time and sometimes it's left on the counter for a few days at a time because I like to use it so much. The stand mixer also gets left out on the counter occasionally, especially when we are doing a lot of baking during the holidays. Everything else is stuffed away in the pantry. I would throw the George Foreman grill away as I have never used it and it seems like it's some sort of cooking abomination but my wife insists that she uses it from time to time (though I've never actually seen her use it). Besides the Foreman, the bread machine is the only thing that is used very sparingly, we like it though because it smells good when it's making bread and we also like to use it every so often for pizza dough or soft pretzel dough.
 
Stand mixer, food processor, waffle iron. I think that's it. Well a toaster too. Don't have any need for more. Not a super lot of cabinet space.
 
On counter:
Microwave
Toaster (used once)

Stored in cabinet:
Rice cooker

Pretty sparse as far as cooking appliances go. I had a quesadilla maker that was gifted to me that got some use late-college, but was tossed pretty quickly when I realized it was easier to just make them without it.
 
In counter (the thing pops up... it is stupid, but my wife wanted it :)) -

Pressure Smoker/Dehydrator (this was a stupid purchase it really doesn't work)

I cook too much. I use the panini maker a lot, the rest are just random.
 
On the counter:

Toaster (regular two piece of bread toaster shape)


In the cabinets:

Crockpot
Mini food processor
Waffle iron
Rice cooker
Air popcorn popper
Toaster (shaped like Darth Vader’s head that my mom gave me last Christmas, but he only takes smaller size pieces of bread so not very useful to me and I should give him away but haven’t had the heart to yet)
Bread machine

Other than the Vader toaster, I’m most likely to get rid of the waffle iron. I like waffles but it’s such a PITA to clean afterward.

toaster oven (avoids heating up the big oven when I'm just doing a dish for 2 people)
two different sized food processors
two different blenders with different features (one I could probably get rid of)
electric griddle
electric skillet
crock pot
kitchenaid stand mixer
kitchenaid hand mixer
George Foreman Grill (I use it for paninis and quesadillas more than anything)

We use the heck out of all of it because we cook from scratch A LOT. I have a good number of other gadgets that allow me to adapt saucepans & skillets for other types of cooking in order to avoid specialized equipment.
 
[OT]Coffee bean grinders are called "mills". Thank you, I'll be going now.[/OT]

I just moved into a new place this weekend. I need everything from soup to nuts. I have nothing currently on my counter top.
 
On my countertop:

5 crockpots (Yes, I need them all)

Manual Food Processor

I don't have a toaster at all, or a plug-in coffee maker. I use a French press to make my coffee in the mornings.

^^ That's what I mean. I can't make a waffle without a waffle iron, but I can make a quesadilla, popcorn, rice and a whole lot of other things without dragging an appliance out of storage.

And other than magically rising out of the counter, who wants to lift a Kitchen Aid stand mixer any time you want to use it? Mine has been on a counter for 30 years.

We had an old storage panty with a ton of shelves and bins.

The Girl was looking at some YouTube show called "Does it Waffle" - evidently they put lots od different things in a waffle iron to see how it will come out. After that she asked if we had a waffle iron...no.

I need to tell her the story of the running shoe & the waffle iron or "How Nike Started"

I have a toaster and an microwave and that's it. I don't have most of the stuff y'all mentioned. OT, all the talk about waffles has got me wanting to go out for breakfast this weekend.
 
The only thing on the counter is a Keurig, only RT uses it though. Our coffee is made in a stovetop espresso maker.

In a cabinet I have a crock pot, pressure cooker, blender, and food processor. I can ditch the crock pot since my pressure cooker can function as a slow cooker too. I don't own a toaster, just put the bread under the broiler.
 
The only one we keep on the counter is the toaster, but pull out the waffle iron, crock pot, food processor or griddle when needed.

What is the purpose of an electric skillet that a stove-top skillet cannot accomplish? Is it easier to clean? Heats up faster? More non-stick quality?? I've never owned one so I just don't understand them!

My house -- toaster, coffee pot, fancy blender that I said would pay for itself in a matter of months.
Microwave is hanging under a cabinet.
Crock pot and mixer in a cabinet.

I'd like one of those immersion blenders; I can see myself using it for mashed potatoes and such all the time.*

*perhaps the immersion blender would not pay for itself in a matter of months...

I'd also like a waffle iron but I think we have too many options now. So we eat pancakes instead.
