RTDNTOTO 🐻 Random Thoughts Deserving No Thread Of Their Own 21 (2026)

The Girl called last night just to tell me to get off her peacock profile & use my own.

I told her I didn't know I was on her profile since I just fired it up & didn't have to choose. Evidently she had used it when she was home for Christmas break.

I asked her how she figured it out & she told me the last 7 'continue watching' programs were all soccer matches & she didn't watch those.

HeHeHe - now I'm going to have to randomly throw in something that queue

I'm just going to complain about things today because you lot listen for some reason.

Complaint 1...routine car maintenance. I need to change the oil pan gasket for my car. It's a simple job. Undo the 100 bolts that hold the pan on, drop it, replace gasket, put it back on. Not on my car! You have to drop the K-member which involves an engine hoist to support the engine and it looks like removing the suspension and brakes. WTF Ford engineers? Did you not think changing an oil pan gasket should be easy? Guess it's time for the mechanic on that job.

Complaint 2...taxes. I will start by saying I did not verify any of this. It comes from my wife so you know it's correct. My daughter is being lazy about getting us her w-2 from one of her jobs so we can't just drop it off with our CPA and get it done. Her taxes are simple. She has nothing to claim. Just work income. I tell the wife, just have her do the 1040ez. She can figure that out. It's just fill in numbers from the w-2. Nope. The 1040ez is only for super poor people who don't need to pay taxes anyway. Okay, so have her get the free version of turbo tax and do it. Nope. Free tax software is not allowed either. WTF IRS? You demand we pay taxes and then make sure it won't be easy?
Check out filing for free with the chime app. it might work for her.

Yeah, I feel like I needed another day - we were in Vermont for the weekend and left late, so got home late last night - had a great weekend sledding and snowshoeing and now today I can barely walk as I keep forgetting I am not 25 anymore, and I am out of shape lol/wtf

I did have to work yesterday... but I also had to go pick up the oldest from play practice. He didn't get done until 10:15 PM... I get up at 4:30 AM and worked out extra hard yesterday. I am so freaking exhausted today that I am fighting staying awake. Tonight I am going to fall asleep and make an alarm to get up to get my oldest. He has play practice for the next several days and Opening Night is Thursday.

Who has or wants to read this ?

Our big snowstorm has arrived!

Started snowing this morning about 6 a.m., and won't stop until Thursday. But, being a good planner, here I am at work. I reserve the right to leave the office at any time if starts getting bad, and, since it's a 30-mile drive, my safety comes first and management agrees.

Most schools and government offices are closed today. My employer doesn't close, but has a "use your discretion" policy.

Okay, I watched this thing like three times and each time it keeps getting better and better. Do I need psychological help?

I actually have been pondering the thought of "what if I can move back to Canada using my current work experience and Masters degree as my Express Entry justification? If I took another French test, paid $1100 USD filing fee, and got the same score as last time, I would have over 500 "points" towards Express Entry, even without a J-O-B secured.

However, I have kept abreast of the news and economic forecasts coming out of both Canada and Quebec since I left in 2021.......and its BLEAK. Basically, they want either low skilled bodies to work as caregivers, at tim hortons, as meat packagers etc. OR high skilled, highly credentialed STEM workers especially those with over 100K to invest in Canada. I fall into neither category.

The definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over expecting different results. On the junky old car front, I will never learn my lesson (there is a LeSabre in my parents driveway right now) but on the life/career front......well I plan on being in Western New York until as long as I am physically able to handle the winter and continue building my career here where I have a network, a city I adore and close friends (with most of my family just 5-7 hours away Downstate). And afterall, I literally live right next to Ontario and can visit when I have FOMO and/or Flee when New York collapses (lets hope it never gets to that).

^In case you want to have a go at calculating your "score" out of curiosity lol

Yeah play practice schedule is brutal

I am technically not authorized to work at home (haven't been here six months yet), but if somehow can't make it in tomorrow as the bulk of the storm hits this afternoon, acceptable options are: take CM courses online, read something about planning, or take general career development courses available through our city login. That seems fair.

I mean, taking somebody out permanently is perhaps a bit too far, but they all could have used a shovel to the face for sure. Honestly, I think that's part of the problem in this country, not enough people have been punched in the face for being complete douche canoes. But maybe that's just me.

Pro Tip: if you see someone shooting someone else, probably best to not announce that you're recording the whole thing to the shooter.

Lent starts today - I am going to try to get as close as possible to a 16 hour fast - I normally do 12 but women my age are supposed to do 16 - I am at 13 now

I'm not doing Lent but happen to be fasting too. Currently at 14 hours...and NGL it's rough. I would be willing to consider committing homicide in exchange for a really good quality pizza right now.

Yeah i thought if I worked up to 16 during Lent, hopefully I'd get used to it and keep it going - it's hard because it's easier for me to skip dinner than it is to skip breakfast - my husband is a dinner person, so on night meeting nights, I may skip dinner so my 16 hours would be up sooner than lunchtime

All this talk of food makes me hungry for a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich for lunch... but I have nearly 2.5 hours to go.

If you do Lent, you can't have meat today so it's a fish and chips day for you

I made it to 14 hours and had a protein bar by Rx - I will get to 16 comfortably soon

One of the most satisfying things for me lately is watching these videos of porch pirates getting blown up by phony packages. I watched a few last night where the thieves actually look right into the Ring camera and either flipped it off or said "you can watch but you can't stop us". Then the packages blew up with dye or whatever. And the sheer audacity to act like they are the victim. Warms the heart really.

A few years ago, I really struggled with my church and haven't followed the Catholic or similar church definitions of Lent in a while. I think it is terrific for those who do, but I have chosen a different path. I am still a Christian and still love the Lord God with all my might, and take up the cross in a way that is more effective to me to prioritize Gods will over my own.

The ones i like best are when the box explodes inside the car.

I still share a Netflix account with my soon-to-be-ex... Kind of interesting to see who is watching what.

I am always astounded at the people who, after getting blown up with the color, and in many cases, falling down the porch stairs or something, will go back up to the Ring and say they are going to sue or call the police - um, what?

I've always wondered how porch pirates know what is in a package. How do they decide what packages to grab? Sometimes, big boxes may have something of minimal value, and small boxes may be valuable.

I don't think you can sue if you don't come in with "clean hands." If you are injured while committing a crime, well, sucks to be you. IINAL.

The joke is that you know a couple is officially together when they join Netflix accounts. Wasn't a thing when we got together though.

When I was in school, a girl announced she was with a guy by wearing his jacket or sweater.

One of the best porch pirate videos I've seen is a lady who grabs the package, jumps off the porch only to land wrong & break her ankle. You can actually see the foot sideways.

Partner jumps from the car & tries to help her up & they both fall. He can't pick her up, so he sort of drags her back to the car.

I've seen it! And it is glorious. I hate a thief. I mean I hate 'em! I have zero sympathy for that piece of crap.

The other thing that is interesting to me is the people who are doing it. It's quite varied and doesn't play into any one stereotype. I guess being a piece of shit doesn't discriminate.

There's a priest downtown doing ashes on the go. Good for him.

Our garage has started making a weird clunking noise upon closing, so I requested service online from a couple of contractors.

Company “A” called us SIX TIMES and left six messages within one hour. WHY??????
Company “B” called and left ONE message, thanking us for considering them and asking for a callback to schedule service.

Guess which got our business?

I am thinking we may need a new garage door entirely. It’s likely original to the house (1997) . . . Wifey is looking at Costco’s web site for ideas now just in case. I’d like one of those cute ones with windows in the panels, but the HOA wouldn’t like that.

I know people get rid of old/broken tv's by putting them in an Amazon box and leaving them for porch pirates - psyche!

I love being publicly dumped on a facebook page and being called a "thug" and "not a leader" and get called on to be fired, all while trying to a) be with my mom before she died b) deal with her death and c) deal with all the red tape surrounding her death and repatriate her ashes back to the states.

Oh man - that is so horrible - kicking people at their most low and vulnerable moments of life is so shitty

When we were on vacation in Cancun, there was a priest doing drive-by blessings at red lights and taking offerings.
Here, it's usually windshield washing services performed at red lights in exchange for 'donations'

I've always thought that, theoretically, as an accidential Canadian citizen I can just move to Canada one day and start working the next. But it's probably not that simple.

How does a credit score translate? If I have an 836 in the USA for example, how does that convert? Does AICP count the same as CIP when applying for jobs? What about my wife, who is not a Canadian citizen? Would she be allowed to come and get naturalized, or is there some sort of legal residency programme?

I already am fluent in Metric and love hockey, so I am good there. :)

Speaking of citizenship, a friend of ours just became a naturalized US citizen this week (via Dominican Republic). We are having a bowling party on Saturday, even though we all suck at bowling, because what is more American than that?

Lol, I should be fasting?

All you need to do is go to your local consulate or contact IRCC if there is not one nearby. Submit proof of your Canadian birth or parent/grandparent birth to get your SIN Number and Citizenship card. From there, you can get your degrees evaluated and probably be able to sit for CIP with minimal hassle. For the Mrs, proof of your marraige and a perfunctory interview by IRCC will probably be all she needs.

The bigger problem is finding a job that will pay as well in an area with lower cost of living. Salaries in Canada are lower, weaker dollar, and cost of living is absolutley INSANE everywhere (even Winnipeg!). So until the US becomes absolutely untenable like South Africa in the present or Yugoslavia in 1994, that's when I would consider fleeing.

Once you have that sorted, present yourself to a point of entry and voila.

It depends on the severity of damage I think. Nuisance? You may be right. But if you cause significant expense or injury you can be brought up on charges. For instance, if you plant a box on your porch and picking it up fires a shotgun at the person picking up the box, that would be criminal. You can't booby-trap your house.

It's all theoretical anyway since I am not planning on moving.

I was born in California to a Canadian mother, and never set foot in Canada until I was in my 30's. I don't vote or really pay a whole lot of attention to anything up there, except I do read the discussions about MAID (I have my own opinions, which I won't share here). I think many members of Parliament are full of beans, and some aren't.

The BC Parliament building in Victoria is one of my favorite Legislative buildings I've ever seen, US or Canada. If not THE favorite.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. You wrote about her now and then.

You failed the Canada test. You didn't apologize for being fluent in metric.

Personally, I prefer Metric. To this day I have no idea how many teaspoons are in a cup, but in Metric, is always 10 of something is 1 of the next thing. Easy! I have no idea why the USA still holds on.

Thanks. She is in a better place now, but still it hurts to loose your last parent, all the while dealing with the toxicity of certain members of the community.
