That's OK. If I may: instead, read A Psalm for the Wild Born. The author is Becky Chambers. It's sci-fi, but very philosophic, soft sci-fi. Sort of Ray Bradbury-esque in a more modern and relatable way. Beautiful and interesting, I truly loved it. Very quick read as well. I think it should be on 9th grade required reading lists everywhere. We'd have a more thoughtful society.

I will be on a train at 6:00 p.m., and by 7:00 p.m. I will be picking up the best strip-mall Chinese takeout food in the world, seasoned with MSG and family tension. Lord, I love the people who run that place. I could listen to their bickering flavor my chicken all night long! By 8:00 p.m. I hope to be playing cards and eating egg rolls with my wife and kids, and probably losing badly, but hey. That's NYE.

Oldest is not thrilled with us. He wanted to go to a bowling alley in another community tonight with people we don’t know and would be on the road after midnight.

We told him that it wasn’t a good idea.
