Would you wear this shirt ?

I would totally wear this. On another note, anyone thankful we get to see Coyote v Acme next year?

The other day I had to get a new ID card and I was walking around trying out different smiles until I realized I probably look a bit crazy walking around making faces. 😀😃😁😆🙂😊😏🥴🤪
I look like Frankenstein on my license. I joke that the photo school dropouts get hired by the DMV.

I just saw a story about people whose side gig is training AI and my first thought was omg I would have so much fun just messing with that, I mean, right, why not

like this Steve Martin skit, which immediately came to mind

I am not a fan of breaded cheese curds or cheese sticks, I do love me some battered cheese curds and battered cheese sticks. Cheese curds are not too common around here, but there are two places within an hour of here that offers battered curds from a local creamery. They are delicious. Outside of that we have a Culver's, but I am not a fan of their breaded curds and we also have Sheetz which offers battered curds. One thing that I often wondered, how are traditional cheese curds served? Personally, I eat mine with no dipping sauce but around here you are offered marinara or ranch. Is that the case in the mid-west?
Depends where you get them, don't ever see them without some sort of dipping sauce. Go to ten different establishments and you may see ten different dips being used.

As of the beginning of March, I no longer schedule myself to the minute on Sundays. It's one day of the week when, while I have a general idea of what I want to do that day, I am not beholden to following my routine to the minute. Also, I cram all my errands and must-dos into Sunday, so I can have all (or most) of a day all to myself, to take care of my own needs (gym, long bath, reading, river hike, etc.)

Oddly, I feel LESS anxious on Sundays now . . . But the idea of having a to-the-minute schedule is to prevent anxiety.

Once football season begins in September, I'll probably go back to the minute-by-minute routine, but, until then, I'm enjoying the freedom.

In our part of Germany most stores and shops are.closed.on Sundays. When we first got here it was difficult to adjust to but now we really enjoy having built-in family time.

Who needs / wants this t-shirt ?

My first grandniece was born yesterday around noon.

I’ll be seeing her this weekend. I have the honor of telling her her first Dad joke. I wonder which of my hundreds it will be?

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. For years it didn't look like that was going to happen, but apparently they worked out whatever production problem they faced.

Sometimes there is justice...

Deion Sanders was bragging that his kid will go top 5 in the NFL draft on twitter. Shedeur Sanders has the same ego that his father has and it appears that a lot of teams didn't want to deal with it. Neon Deion was correct, his kid did go top 5... rounds. In the 5th round at #144, he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...-selected-shedeur-sanders-2025-nfl-draft-next

People like Sanders (both of them) are what's wrong with professional sports these days. Maybe people are starting to see that talent is overrated.

And Colston Loveland (from Michigan) went to the Chicago Bears in the first round, 10th pick.

He was awesome to watch the last two NCAA seasons at Michigan. Here's hoping he excels in the NFL.

I hate it but the prank call was gold.

I'm here! Cannot for the life of me get in on Chome on the desktop. If anybody has any tips I'm all ears. Edge works fine.

Last Saturday was my alma mater's 50th anniversary of the soccer program. We've had alumni matches in the past, but this year was special. Several players my years playing came, about half of them I hadn't seen since 1983. The game was fun and we ribbed each other during the match.

At the beginning, we had 4 substitutes & within 20 minutes we had none. Pulled muscles ruled the day! I haven't kicked a ball in 4 years, but "played" & Mrs. P said we 'didn't look too bad' - which she later added 'for a bunch of out-of-shape 60 year olds.' Very sore & my right knee was barking.

Got home after a 2-hour drive and it was hard even getting out of the car. Bio-Freeze gel is my friend. I feel good that I can still walk (painfully though).

Still every painful step today was worth seeing a bunch of us old guys again.

Wearing my Canucks hat today--a very rare occurrence during the off-season--in support of the City of Vancouver ("the darkest day in our city's history") and also because of the elections today. (Which I follow, but do not participate in.)

I’m going to be the guest on a local radio show in a couple of weeks! They booked me for the full hour, which doesn’t happen often.

I’ll be mostly talking about historical events that shaped Nevada, but probably a whole lot of mindless banter as well. I’ll post the link to the feed as the day gets closer.

(The host loved my books and reached out today.)

Lost and Found

At some point yesterday I realized I didn't have my house keys. Typically I always have my keys on me if I'm outside the house.

Yesterday I started doing the lawn. I did the edging and pulled some weeds. I got the lawnmower out and realized I needed to tune it up; I could barely keep it running last week. So I went to the video I found last week and tuned it up and mowed the lawn.

Then I realized I had to get to Costco before they closed so I made a quick list and set off. I did my shopping there, and made a stop at Albertson's as well. When I got home I realized I only had my car key but not the house keys.

I retraced my steps... the auto parts store where I bought the carb cleaner, Costco, Albertson's. No one had seen my keys. I went back today just to make sure.... no keys.

I really need those keys: The lock for my bicycle is on them. I think I have an extra somewhere but I have no idea where I would even look.

So finally as the sun was going down I went out with a flashlight. I looked where I was working on the lawnmower... nothing. Then I started tracing the steps I took when I trimmed the bushes and pulled the weeds, shining the flashlight in a sweeping motion back and forth... something?

Something shiny for sure.... yep! My keys. The prodigal keys have returned!

This really opened my eyes to how much money is tied up in NIL deals. If Shedeur Sanders had stayed at Colorado for his final year, he probably would have made between $4 million and $6 million just from NIL. If he had been picked in the top five of the draft like some expected, he would’ve signed a four-year deal worth over $40 million. But since he got drafted much later, his rookie contract will likely only be around $4 to $4.5 million over four years. In other words, he could’ve made more in one year at Colorado than he’s now set to make over four years in the NFL. It was a high-risk gamble betting on going higher in the draft which in this case didn’t pay off.

I hand not thought about that, but your right... sucks to be him. Perhaps he will keep his ego in check next time.

At the beginning of Council meetings, they allow for public comment - the usual suspects get up and rant about their usual gripes but if someone who usually doesn't come in and comments on something that perhaps a staff person can deal with in the hallway or at least let the person know we will deal with it and how/when or that we can't deal with it because of ____, then the city manager usually motions the pertinent staff member to go do that - that is, follow them out and have a chat in the hall

so last night was my turn on a construction noise and density allowed complaint from this old guy - the CM came with me and we sat and listened to this guy in the break room, a nice old guy, obviously lonely, told us his life story, and when we were able to extrapolate ourselves, we were there so long that we missed the whole meeting!

a little bizarre, but luckily, there were no questions for me for the agenda items I was there for

That's interesting that you all leave the meeting to have conversations with these folks.

Our public comments got moved to the end of the meeting so the complainers would have to sit through the entire meeting.

There was a point when they were at the beginning, but they just complained and then left.

The street paving project was done in 2020, except for the sharrows. After constant reminders from this planner, they were finally installed today.
