What should we call our forced break from Cyburbia?

I'm trying to think of some planning-related term for it . . can't think of anything right now, but it will come to me.

Meanwhile, I am sure at some point we'll get a quick summary of what happened. Glad to be back though!

With the last game of the campaign in the books, and the Canucks spending the playoffs on their couches, I am now in that "no football and no hockey" phase that will last until September.

Tomorrow is the third anniversary of me in my current position, which means review day. So if you don't hear from me after today, it's been a pleasure.* :)

Jim

* Joke. I don't have anything to worry about AFAIK.

Probably should start to think about what we are doing for Easter dinner.
I haven't been told our plans yet. Sooner the better, since if I need to buy anything, it would need to be tomorrow morning before 9 a.m. I'm busy the rest of the day, and finding an open, uncrowded store on Sunday would be a challenge.

If I don't know, I'll just default to a small ham, mashed potatoes, and stuffing. I can whip that up for us in a couple of hours.

Smooth commute into work today . . . Good Friday is always a light traffic day.

Even the turnoff toward South Reno didn't look bad.

(Since we're planners: The major job market in Reno-Sparks is not in either of those cities' downtowns, but rather on the southern fringes of Reno (called "South Meadows") and Carson City, 30 miles south. Also, a secondary hub is the "tri-center" about 10 miles east of Sparks, where all the industry is.

With that said, I work in downtown Reno, and Wifey works in downtown Sparks. We both love our reverse commutes. :))

24 for dinner, I think - ham and lamb with a potato-garlic-cream side dish, a salad and maybe asparagus or brussels sprouts and also a pizza rustica pie - I think I will make sheet cake for dessert - house drink is a Violent Femme (gin, grapefruit, elderflower and prosecco with sage garnish) and not sure what the mocktail will be (maybe a berry shrub)

No plans for Easter Saturday, but taking dad out for lunch on Easter Sunday.

Otherwise, nothing exciting is going on.

Celebrating Easter on Saturday at my son's house in Plano; will be first major holiday for new grandson (not that he'll remember; he's only three weeks old).

While the forums were down:

I accepted a job in Western New York and am excited to take my career to the next level for a municipality in Niagara County. It feels like an Easter miracle and I am very excited for this new stage.
Congratulations!! My mother was born near there . . . Niagara Falls, Ontario--but grew up in Water Town NY (which I guess is somewhere near Buffalo) before moving to SoCal in high school, where she met my father. I've never been to NY though.

Jim

Wouldn't really call that "near Buffalo." :)

That's what I was driving at, yeah.

Yeahhhh, unless my job is literally on the line I'm not attending a 4:30 meeting on a Friday.

I have a few coworkers that, if I see them calling or IMing at 4:30, I flat out ignore, because what they are bugging me about is never something that can't wait for the next day. (Others, if they contact me that late, it's usually pretty urgent and I'll talk to them.)

We had ham for dinner on Easter. In other news, Mercury is in retrograde

We're finally close to the end of The Pollening.
We have a carob tree in our front yard that, every other year in the fall, drops what we call "tree turds." Hundreds of them, by the day. I scoop them up and take them to compost.

(Why every other year and not every year? I don't know.)
