I have a friend who became a viral meme. No, I am not going to repost it.

We are worried about our male cockatiel. For the last couple months, he's been exhibiting the same symptoms that our female did before she passed (She died of an undiagnosed and unknown kidney condition).

I really think it's hormones, based on the new young female in the house, but the fact that it's been going on for so long is worrisome. Getting him checked out today. (He's 15, so he's should still have a lot of years left.) I'm taking sick time for a doctor appointment--just didn't say what kind of doctor.

Looking at the map, I remember an old friend and coworker who lives in La Crescenta, just west of the Eaton fire in Altadena. His neighborhood is shaded yellow which I would say probably means at risk, but not yet evacuated? I probably need to contact him; haven't spoken to him for years.

Finally heard back from Glen. His house still stands. He said they've been losing power frequently because the fire is impacting power lines.

I am bi-polar in my response to GSC Season.

Yeah! Load me up/take my $$:money:$$ - I want more!!!!!

Ugg - I can't believe I ate the whole box in one sitting!

If you're so inclined and you see some in the store, pick up some Lakewood Brewing Co. Temptress Sin Mint. You won't regret it.

you can find where to buy them by zip code

Getting really annoyed by the entitlement of people and the way they're acting.

Instead of sending a formal letter, I stopped by a car detail place to ask them to move the cars off the sidewalk (move them back 4 feet) since they were blocking it. I was met with a string of loud obscenities about killing off small businesses and not letting them use their own property. Tried to explain right-of-way, et cetera which devolved into them continuing to shout, make threats and said the police don't care so why should I.

Walked away, just shaking my head. Notified police. Next time we go the formal route.

Our youngest daughter's best friend lives about a block away from us. They've been home in Japan visiting family for the past 6 weeks and are coming back this weekend. I had a dream last night, a nightmare really, that I was supposed to pick them up at the airport but we ran into problems because I was using my wife's car and she's gotten a new one since they left so they didn't recognize it and couldn't find me. I tried to call them to tell them where to meet me but their English isn't that good so they put the 8-year-old daughter on the phone as our translator but she wouldn't shut up about Minecraft. I don't know if I ever actually picked the family up in my dream.

Thankfully, I am pretty sure they drove themselves to the airport so I am not on the hook to get them home.

That part probably made the nightmare feel VERY real, and therefore extra frightening. No 8-year old willingly shuts up about Minecraft. :)

A new challenge replace one of the words in a movie qoute with "Cyburbian"

Like this - These are not the Cyburbians you’re looking for
OR
Cyburbians? We ain't got no Cyburbians. We don't need no Cyburbians . I don't have to show you any stinking Cyburbians.

Rage against the machine. Are you part of that Deep State?

I prefer vanilla cake with chocolate frosting more than chocolate cake with vanilla frosting

For me, yellow cake with chocolate frosting is the primo-wanna-cake.

Also, I was going to say "You can't just rage against the machine, you gotta GRIND against the machine"...but it sounded really icky. So I guess I just said it anyways...

The same theme keeps reappearing in some of my dreams the last year or so: I'm in a vehicle in which the brakes won't work. Never the same setting, never the same vehicle. Sometimes, one of my kids is behind the wheel, others I am. A collision never occurs in the dream - I wake before that.

I take it to mean something has been set in motion that I can't stop ...

Or that you feel like life is passing by too fast and you'd like things to slow down.

One of the movie theatre chains here is already selling tickets for the next Captain America movie... that comes out nearly a month away on February 14th. :r:

You can rage against the machine all you want. It doesn't care. It's a machine.

Also the cake answer is angel food cake with fudge sauce.

My local pusher is named Aspen . . . I've buying from her for about six years now. (She's 11, I think?) She's the daughter of a former co-worker.

Ain't no way I'm buying from anyone else. :)

When the wife and I got married, we registered at Bed Bath & Beyond with a decent list. There were a lot of people who just got us gift cards from there so we can get whatever we didn't get from the list. One of those items was a set of Calphalon Pots and Pans. I recalled the sales person from BB&B saying that they had a lifetime warranty. I even joked that if she throws a pan at me and misses but it dents the pan, is that covered, and he said yes.

Fast forward almost 2 decades, the large shallow sauce pan as warped over time from all the heating and cooling. I reached out to them a couple of months ago about it, sent in photos and details and they said to send it in and they would review it and send a new one if it was determined to be within their parameters. This was just about the same time that we were moving into the new house. Sending it in got away from us until last week when they sent me a follow up e-mail. By then I had lost the address of where to send it, so I asked for the correct address. Instead of sending the address, I get a notification that they are just sending me the new pan!

Normally, I use the cast iron, but I love this for anything with a sauce. The new one will be here tomorrow!

That's awesome! I love when a company stands behind their stuff like that. We have some Calphalon pots and pans too (also from BB&B purchased as a wedding gift or with gift cards) so I'll have to remember that if and when one of ours ever gets damaged beyond serviceability.

Speaking of BB&B, there used to be one right next door to my health club so I liked to go in there after working out to get stupid candy items that I didn't need. I always liked the big packages of candy they used to have by the registers. Unfortunately, they closed their doors at that location 4 or 5 years ago (and now I think they're all closed and it's an online-only business?).

Last year somebody bought the building and now they're turning it into a fancy indoor pickleball and golf simulator place. I know a lot of the old guys at my club who play pickleball on our makeshift tennis courts are very psyched. I have no idea how successful the place will be and have been trying to figure out if they'll have a liquor license because that would make it a lot more likely for them to succeed.
