Check on Steam to see if you can play it...that's how I play the real Roller Coaster Tycoon. If only the original will scratch that itch, ya know?

Also, I have been meaning to ask if anybody or anybody's kids are playing Manor Lord. I would could see a group game of that...competing with each other's fledgling fiefdoms, raiding, back-stabbing, secret alliances....I just think some folks on here, we could have a good time. :)
I don't know about the original SimCity (I am sure it has been released to PD by now), but you can play SimCity 4 on Steam.

Also The Sims 4, but I dare not get involved in that since it's a huge time sink.

I like RCT and RCT2. RCT3 was not nearly as good. Fun fact about RCT2: If you change a guest's name to "Alyssa W.," she will go around and take lots of pictures. That is a nod to Alyssa White (now Alyssa Alvey), one of the founders/mods of the themeparkreview.com website. (I used to be pretty active on that forum but haven't been on it in a decade or so.)

Your kids eat their cereal with water.

As for the karaoke, sing "Merry Christmas From The Family" in high German

The only German I know is O Tannenbaum as my first grade nun was of German descent and made us sing it daily in December

It has been 53, 50 and 50 degrees in my office the past three mornings. I've had to use the hand drier in the men's room to restore feeling in my fingers again.:cold:
Do you have a space heater you can use? Some offices frown on them, but do what you need to do.

(They are allowed in our building, but we have to turn them off when not physically in our office.)

One year until retirement, eh?

Freddy Cannon is either 84 or 88 today, depending on what source you look at it.

Regardless, here is what Palisades Park looks like now.

Got a interesting email from APA about nominating somebody & or if I am qualified to be nominated for FAICP status.

Being AICP certified for at least 10 years, you meet the administrative prerequisite to submit a nomination.
have achieved excellence in professional practice, teaching and mentoring, research, public and community service, and leadership.

Teaching - NO
Mentoring - NO
Research - NOT published
Leadership - NO Chapter position
Public and Community Service - 31 years

Now here is a case of me being overestimated.
yes I am sell myself, short, I am a tremendous slouch.

I was the third wheel on a date with my sister and a young man (mind you, my sister is 11 years older than me) at Palisades Park in about 1972-ish. Ralph was a Vietnam vet, having served as a door gunner on a Huey. He had MASSIVE biceps, which was good because I hung onto them for dear life riding the coaster at PP (coasters are not my favorite activity). I do remember the view of Manhattan was pretty stunning ...

But, I got no idea who or what Freddie Cannon is/was.

This song has been in my "light- to light-medium" rotation for decades.

There was an amusement park just about a mile from where I now sit that was turned into a county park 15 years or so ago. They got rid of most remnants of it, but the log flume still sits there, eerily abandoned, and some of the buildings have been repurposed. Not sure why they never demolished along with the rest of the rides.

(Not my photo, but I do have dozens I have taken around the grounds.)

A Christmastime classic story in our house:

Several years ago, I started singing, “Do you smell what I smell?”

Dione quickly interjected, “You better not be taking a beautiful song like that and making it about farting!”

So I sang the next line, “A pie, a pie, baking in the house, and it smells so yummy and good . . . Oh it smells so yummy and good.”

“Nice song!” she said.

That may or may not have been the original line I was heading for; I may have come up with it on the fly, quickly replacing my original planned lyrics. I’ll never tell.

As if the imperial system is not confusing enough, you bring it into American football where the chain is 10 yards instead of 22 yards.

At least the quarters are 15 minutes... well, other than when they stop the clock.

The Town Next Door closed their city offices owing to the snow today. We're open, of course. I think there's a longstanding psychological commitment on an organizational level here to maintaining the image that we're more hardcore than you!

The Girl & I had a bet on how long 3:10 left in the 4th quarter would really last - you know actual time. Set the bar at 15 minutes,

She went over, I went under. It was 13 minutes & 12 seconds.

I listen to a Spotify channel that has 7 listeners. But only listen to one song on that channel.
There are only seven of you....when are you all getting together? You should listen at, like, Chili's or something. Also, at this point you must tell what the station is....don't you think? If it's a station where you listen to people cutting hair at a salon in Tel Aviv or something I want to know...because I'd probably listen to that. :)

Trisha Lurie - Dark Side - guitar driven song as the only reason ;) I listen.

We don't close--we just work remotely from wherever we may be. I actually don't like to work from home, but can if I really need to.

My position is eligible to be full remote, full office, or whatever combination suits us at any given time. I choose office full time because, honestly, I don't like staring at the same four walls all day and I like to be where people are.

Whoever wrote these Terms and Conditions, thank you for actually making them entertaining.

(Example: "
  • Fyre Festival 2.0. Should the organizers of Fyre Festival attempt another party on a remote, secluded, largely amenity-free Caribbean island, Purchase Protection is not valid and you should really question your judgment. We love the Caribbean but we don’t love scam events and won’t cover losses that result from them. ")

Whoever wrote these Terms and Conditions, thank you for actually making them entertaining.

  1. Valid Claim: Surprisingly, we cannot read your mind and we are not like the government spying on you knowing your every move. In order to receive a refund, you will need to file a claim at PurchaseProtection.com/claims and provide details about your unforeseen circumstance. To help speed the process along, you’ll need your Unique Identifier number issued to you after purchase and the approved coverage amount. As much as we want to take your word for it, every claim must be substantiated with documentation because, yes, we get a fair amount of liars (and yes we can tell). :epic:

I hadn't thought of it in probably a decade or more. I thought everyone uses Spotify, Pandora, etc. now.

Jim
The only streaming service I pay for is SiriusXM and only because it's in our cars. I don't pay for any of the others.

If I like music I hear, I still by the CD (or perhaps the vinyl).

Same here - SXM in two cars. I do listen to SXM or Spotify (free version) on my computer at work. If I can, I always have music in the background. I thrift CDs or occasionally buy the CD as I like to have a hard copy. I do have a hard drive of 60 GB of music, too.

I use spotify mostly because the kids love it and it's good for my car.

Yeah, standard procedure is to rip new CDs to the computer. I haven't ripped my entire collection yet but I'll get around to it some day.

I use the free version of Pandora. I like making and tweaking stations.

XM for the cars and Apple music for work/home. I like being able to find any song/playlist, including the CDs and records I have, and being able to play them throughout the house or when I'm working in the garage. Our daughter also needs music to fall asleep, so one of the homepods plays in her room all night. Apple music also has a separate app format for classical music, which is great for searching composers and different orchestras that have played the works, or different eras, etc. For the car, I don’t want to figure out what I want to play, so the XM is easy.
