We're in the midst of peak colors currently. :mapleleaf:

We're going to have a bit of a depressing fall. It's going to be 85 today. We haven't had rain in October and were dry most of July and August. The trees are dropping leaves from drought before they show much color.

One of my first cousins' kids is on scholarship at Ole Miss as a cheerleader. Being a sports cheerleader is literally paying for her college education. Check yourself before you wreck yourself, yo...
That's fine at the college level. Getting college education paid via scholarship is great in my book. My thought was more geared toward professional sports cheerleaders. I assume it can be a job for a few years. My point was they serve no purpose to the actual game being played. In fact, not all sports teams have cheerleaders.

Remember the episode of Scooby Doo where the gang learns that guys wearing scary masks isn't against the law?

GUYS (N' DOLLS) I have a confession to make. I am a Zoomer.

I was actually born in 2001. I am voting for #momala because she is brat. I vape and drive a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 2014.

I actually got into planning from watching City Nerd and following NUMTOT

Around here
City & County employees have Election Day off as a holiday

Grade Schools are closed for Election Day - explaination from School Corp -
"a half-dozen of our school facilities, are used as polling places, And with this many people in the community coming in and out of those voting centers, we just want to make sure we have a safe environment."

After RJing Thursday and Friday, I'm back in the office. I'm not loving it . . .

I'm monitoring a sediment basin conversion to stormwater. It was a dark 31º when I started this morning. I am loving it. 🙂
On a related note, I'm picking up my coat from the dry cleaner this evening because the season is arriving. I don't want to be the smelly coat guy, not ever. You are the patron saint of coats.

I cleaned my desk off and it is really exhilarating
A person with a clean desk can accomplish almost anything! Fit it with boosters and fly that clean desk into the upper atmosphere, baby!!!

I purchased a quilted barn coat so now I feel like I caught up to the cliché - I mean, it's not a Barbour coat (though I would do anything for one), it's a Land's End but still, I feel like I should be going to Starbucks for a Pumpkin spice latte with pistachio milk or something

Up until COVID, it was illegal to wear them into several different businesses in the state of North Carolina. But that had to get changed.

Today I learned what NUMTOT means

You're one step ahead of me... I have no idea what 90% of the content in that post was.

No, don't be the smelly coat guy.

If you really want a Barbour, keep an eye on eBay. The Barbour Bedale and Beaufort coats pop up on there all the time in pretty good shape, and often NWT.

There's a small local menswear store near me I go to every once in a while because I like the tailor there (and being across from one of our favorite pizza places helps out too). The selection in the store is always really good, high quality stuff but it's usually totally different offerings (brands and styles) every time you visit, and often a lot of the stuff seems to be about a season or two out of date. I think they guy who runs the store buys big closeout lots from other stores or manufacturers and then sells them at his store. The best find I made in there was about a decade ago when he had waxed Barbour jackets for about $125... that was a crazy good deal. I didn't even need or want one but still bought one and then ended up selling it to a friend (I already had a waxed Filson I liked better and the Barbour was too similar). If I was more enterprising, I would have bought all the ones the guy was selling and then flipped them on eBay.

Talking about coats -
I have a Columbia 3-in-1 but I rarely split it apart.
I still have the polar fleece part of a previous (30 years old) Columbia 3-in-1 that is in still good shape to wear.

Years ago, I attended a wedding reception on the campus of the United States Military Academy (a/k/a West Point) with a HS classmate who happened to be in the United States Air Force. He was dressed in his Class A uniform and was approached by a number of young ladies, inquiring whether he was a pilot. I overheard his response to one questioner by saying he flew an LGD-7D. When she asked if that was a fighter jet, he replied "It's a Large Gray Desk with 7 Drawers". She abruptly turned and hurriedly walked away. We were howling in laughter.

We don't get many kids on our street, so we will be going down to our friend's house on the next block (closer to a bigger street) and giving out candy to the ghosts and witches there.

One of our neighbors decorates his whole house, inside and out, and turns his whole lot into a Haunted House. He actually hires people to come work it--apparently, it's scary enough that full-grown adults come out screaming. (But there is a line down the block every year.)

You need to lean into this! Do you have a cross-body bag, or better yet several of them?

My favorite cat growing up was Cinder, a black siamese. She came over our back fence one day when I was a kid, and lived 17 years, long after I had moved out.

A few days after she was put down, another black cat, a small kitten, appeared over the back fence of the house. Dad kept her and named her Boo, and she lived to be 16 before wandering off to die, as cats do. :-(

(Fun fact: At one time, we had 17 cats roaming the premises . . . but the cat count usually hovered between 8 and 10 at any given time.)

All I know is that I'm the pinnacle of fashion in this place with a camp shirt and chinos.

Also, the only jackets I own are a denim one (not lined) and a hoodie. Don't need more than that.

I would have thought you would have stopped at the LLBean store on your way home from work.

I just saw a LinkedIn profile under the "People You May know" category whose job title is

Chief Enjoyment Manager

I $hit you not

I have an idea: No meter enforcement at polling places during elections, IF the person is parking there for the sake of voting, working at the polling place, or some other polling-place related function*. I don't think it's fair that people should have to pay to execute their civil right.

Jim

*Other than campaigning. That's not allowed at polling places anyway.

That would not do. LP is a smart dresser. She doesn't want to dress like the other women in town.
I heard the story about the father who found out that his daughter was bullying another student in her class for her "raggy" sartorial choices. As punishment, Dad made his daughter take Classmate shopping at a nice store, using Daughter's clothing allowance for the year.

Daughter wasn't happy, but the point was made.

In several states it is as long as they are a particular distance from the actual polls. Here it is 100 feet from the door.
Same here, and both campaigns were in opposite directions about 100 feet and 1 inch away from the door. I was just out for my lunchtime walk, though; I voted already.

Im convinced Cats do that because they know that when its the end, they either get reincarnated or ascend to a higher plane of existence where there are unlimited boxes and treats.

Atheists and Christians alike tell me this is nonsense, but I dont care lol
