What, or who, do you think caused the great 1775 fire in New York City? Was it the British, the Rebels, someone without political affiliation, or was it a complete accident?

I think Bob Kowsnowski set a candle down next to a hay bale and the wind caused the candle to fall over onto the bale, thereby starting the conflagration.

I am going to call BS on this... I am quite sure that Bob was in Jersey the night that the fire started...

It was caused by Mrs. O'Leary's cow knocking over a lantern.

No. No. Bob stopped in for a drink at Ye Olde Featherduster Pub & Grille and left the candle unattended outside when the fire broke out. It's a well known fact.
 
It is 7:30pm. I am in my jammies and in bed. I could easily fall asleep right now but if I do I will wake up at midnight. So I have to force myself to stay up for another 1.5 hrs. 😶

I know the feeling. I could go to sleep for the night as soon as the sun sets. Soke nights I do.

I do that on occasion - fall asleep for the night around 8:00 PM and wake up around 2:00 or 2:30 AM. If I know I will not be falling back to sleep I'll go for a walk downtown. I live in a relatively dense community and there are a lot of people in the region and even though our downtown is packed to the gills during the day and evening, it's not really known for having a bustling nightlife but the first few times I walked into town at that hour I was amazed by the number of people out and about at like 3:00 AM. It's not tons of people by any stretch, but still a lot more than I would have imagined. Until then, I also never realized how many restaurants and bars get their deliveries at such hours.

It's not quite the time of year for it yet, but I really love going for a walk or run through the residential areas at those hours in the winter, especially if there is snow on the ground. It's fun to see everybody's holiday lights reflecting off of the snow. It lights everything up very nicely.

I saw a commercial on TV a few nights ago hawking a gold coin proof "clad in xyz milligrams of 24 karat gold" or similar language. Calculated the amount of gold as .0009 ounces or something like $2 of gold.

Same as a dimetrodon, which is usually included in various dinosaur graphics and pictures. "Dimetrodon is often mistaken for a dinosaur or as a contemporary of dinosaurs in popular culture, but it became extinct some 40 million years before the advent of dinosaurs." What is a few million years in the timeline of the world?

Thanks for the science lesson; but if I ever time travel back in time and get eaten by a dimetrodon, I want my time traveling partners to tell everyone that I got eaten by a dinosaur.
 
My oldest and I got into a "Science is absolute unchangeable proven fact" discussion. I let it carry on for a bit then went with the knockout blow by saying, "Tell that to Pluto and all the Brontosauruses." He looked at me for a moment and walked away.
