I just remember Lady in Red being played all. the. time. the summer it came out
I have that CD.

I generally like harder rock but some yacht rock is okay. Rod Stewart- Year of the Cat, Gerry Rafferty- Baker Street, Loggins & Messina- Angry Eyes, etc.

I recently learned that the guitarist for the McCoys on the song Hang On Sloopy is Rick Derringer.

Maybe not the only one. I give you my ships battle flag

You are? I haven't seen one in years. Of course I haven't had anyone help me in a shoe department in years either. I miss that type of service.
Definitely at REI in the footwear section and at a local chain or workwear/footwear stores we have around here. I haven't been in a Footlocker or whatever in many years though.

"Please join this webinar and explore recent significant innovations within urban planning!"

Just saw this posting on a training website and I immediately thought FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INNOVATIONS AND SIGNIFICANT INNOVATIONS?

When will people learn, you ain't innovatin if you gotta call them significant innovations because if they truly are innovations, then that's the webinar you oughta be making. If urban planners be innovatin, then you have to tell the whole dang world, please send that press release to CNN stat!!

But they ain't doin that. We already know that webinar with significant innovations is the weakest sauce ever. Hard pass.

When I was in high school, I sold dress shoes to unsuspecting men and yeah, they loved having their feet measured and having their shoes placed on their feet. I made a ton of commission as I got these guys to buy multiple pairs of shoes and all the polishing supplies etc etc.
We are only days away from September, when all those pregnant women start to show . . . Be ready!

I know this is a joke but my personal rule is that I NEVER say anything to a woman about being pregnant until they tell me directly they are expecting. I have enough behaviors that will probably limit my lifespan, no need to add another to that list.

"They" are starting to arrive in Reno/Sparks, clearing out all out supermarket shelves. "They" come every year at this time . . .

By next Monday, our store shelves will look like Florida Walmarts before a hurricane. That's why we resupplied yesterday.

Honestly, though, one of my favorite assignments during my bell/valet days was getting to drive the Burning Man shuttle. On the whole, a fun group of people.

I have a gift certificate for my wife and me to go to one of those "smash rooms." You have to schedule it ahead of time though. Hard to know when I'll be in the mood for a 30-minute temper tantrum. From what I understand, though, you feel a lot better when done.

I'm pretty sure my wife would be ready to throw a smash room temper tantrum at any point. :afraid:

We will be going on September 14 at 4 p.m. Already looking forward to it!!! Supposedly they provide a video of yourself too.

I had heard that taller people gravitate towards leadership positions. This graph depicting the heights of Presidential candidates gives a bit of support to the notion, but is not conclusive.

Is that just like a bouncy house?

omg so cranky today - whoa, I need to be stopped

today's complaint is wtf don't people know how to write a memo and that a memo isn't set up the same as a letter - why isn't that a thing for people to know?

Anyone have experience with preserving old plans and maps - generally paper prints from 1920s-40s?

What we did with some was put them is a plastic sleeve and scan them (we have a plotter/scanner that takes up to 36 wide)
Yes there is some distortion with a scrolling scanner.

I was able to scan a couple of them that were in better shape. There was talk of laminating them, but I didn't feel comfortable with that.

Re: formatting stuff
Date: semi-urgent

Dear LP,

I heard you don't like memos or something and probably also how people don't punctuate or use words good and stuff.
Wanted to cheer you up so I thought I'd tell you that your awesome. Your rilly awesome. I put in the misspellings and my
local accent to cheer you up.

Sincerely,

ursus.

Whenever someone orders one of my books from me, I always ask for a picture of their pet. Optional, but I like to see puppies and kitties.

When someone asks me why I want a picture of their pet, I say "It's because asking for pictures of your kid would be creepy."

Shit's getting real in Russia.

Even if the drones aren't inflicting damage, having to activate anti-aircraft batteries in the capital city is not going to favor the war's popularity.

I also read a report from a Russian source that Ukrainian paratroopers have surrounded Russian soldiers defending Kursk.
