Lost In Michigan
After decades of being painted green and white the Mackinac Bridge will get a new maize and blue paint scheme. Crews will begin work on it today (April 1st)P.S. Please don't get mad at me, I was just having a little fun. I hope you figured it out when you looked at the date.

I thought for a while that I could simply think harder before speaking and avoid making a fool of myself, but I now know that that will not be enough. No more speaking 2024.
I was under oath once when I was asked whether a site was a "park" or not. I thought for a long time before the judge prompted me with "Mr. Gedunker, do you understand the question?" To which I replied "The site is no more a park than is some vacant lot where kids toss a FrisbeeTM back and forth, Your Honor." We won, ultimately.

So, you know, keep trying.

My sons spontaneously dressed up a little bit for the Easter dinner at my mother-in-law's house. My wife could not have been more pleased to have the only boys at the dinner not in sweats. Then they acted goofy so I couldn't get a good picture. Some things never change.

Yes. That song is the best on the album.
Really it captures the plot of the whole story right there.

The historical context is that the Roman Empire gave the outlying provinces a considerable amount of self rule. There would be a governor over them, but as long as they handled their internal affairs in accordance with Roman desires, the Romans left them alone. But if things got too unruly, the empire would roll tanks, so to speak, and squash any uprising. So here comes this agitator claiming authority from Heaven (i.e., not the local provincial government, not the Roman authorities) who has a considerable following. How do you deal with that? That's what that song is about. And it's complicated: They talk about what the Romans would allow, acknowledge perhaps even admiringly that Jesus is a charismatic figure ("One thing I'll say for him, Jesus is cool.") And the song is portrayed like a messy back-room meeting trying to figure out how to navigate the bureaucracy to solve the issue of this Jesus fellow.

Decision paralysis on travel plans for this weekend. We have a babysitter and a dog sitter but no destination in mind. And we don't want to drive and we are cheap.

Black Forest (Schwarzwald)?

Basel, Switzerland?
Good suggestions. We do the Black Forest at Christmas and Hubby nixed Switzerland due to high costs. Switzerland is high on my list.
Gaufelden it is then
It would be an easy bus ride from here.
Strausburg, France or Luxembourg
Hubby suggested Luxembourg but I nixed it because we wanted to go in summer. Strasbourg is always nice. Might have to reconsider.
Allocate the travel money to very nice local accommodations and live in your own city like a prince/ss!
That could be a possibility. Definitely would work better for our budget.

The yellow is notably starting to cover surfaces here, but it's not as bad as in the state capitol area of the state. The pine pollen there is in full swing from what I'm told.

NEMO science Museum in Amsterdam

Can I wear orange and black stripes to the museum?
No. No you can't.

Speaking of your budget, did you happen to catch that at NEMO some of the exhibits are FREE?

I may never have correctly typed the word "DENSITY" one single time in my life. Not one. Add it to the list of words that are impossible to type quickly.

We can go lots of places by train, that's the problem. Too many choices.

Find a city - by train - that has a B1 or B2 ⚽️ match. Big Sat match day stuff. Sunday recovery go home.

BTW-went to CLTFC ⚽️ match Sat night with The Girl, brother & niece. Great day!

Seems a little early to be predicting cloud cover...
NOAA is getting scary good at computer modelling, though. But, yes, it's possible the forecast could change during the week. In fact I truly hope it does.

As someone who does a weekly Saturday morning breakfast ride, I know that specific weather conditions at a given time are not really that well predicted until about a day out. We've had lots of rides we considered canceling a week out due to predicted rain and it ended up sunny. We don't usually make the call to cancel until that morning because things often change.

It is crazy it is actually happening, as we have been planning for almost a year for the event as we are in the full totality. I am hoping that people aren't stupid, but we are planning for an additional 150,000 people in our county, and just based on percentages there will be a lot of stupid people. ;)

Free means nothing without th gentle freedom of orange and black stripes.

Though I am not a good work from home kind of gal, I do wish it was an option when a big snow storm is coming

I am the king of not being good at working from home. Always a disaster whenever I did it.

I was talking about Cyburbia the other night while playing cards with Shane-boy, Goldie, and the Werewolf of London, when Shane says "It sounds like you spend a LOT of time pretty much d***ing around..." And I realize: that is objectively true.

I don't plan to change. I'm set in my ways.

I was looking at that today. Man, that bites! I even requested the day off to go to a viewing area. I may be able to go somewhere there's a "mere" 50% cloud cover. :(
I'm in the "sunny" part of the map, worried about crowds, jammed roads, etc. We are working 1/2 day that day and I'll probably bike to work so I don't get stuck in any traffic jams.

I expect the only traffic to the office will be people wanting to use our restroom...

Slightly ahead of the pace of the record-holding year of 2021.

I know you all have been eagerly anticipating our weekend plans decision. Location has been decided. Being able to book 2 massages over two nights was the deciding factor for a spa hotel in the Black Forest.
Awww, nice! I want your weekend. I'm driving to VERNAL, UT so my wife can get her hair done. 3 hours driving, 2 hours waiting, 3 hours driving. And no massage. I mean, prolly.

Her hair better look fierce after that time commitment! Can you book yourself some pampering while you wait for her hair to be did?

I keep wondering about these big traffic jams and crowds they're talking about. I mean my plan all along has been nothing more than to just drive to some county road and pull over to the shoulder between two farms somewhere out in BFE. Like, isn't looking across some farm field going to provide the best unobstructed view anyways? I assume everyone is headed for the most rural areas they can find, but there are literally thousands of miles of rural roads cross-crossing states like Indiana and Ohio. There's going to be a traffic jam here? Seriously?

I haven't had to travel for work outside of a few trips to the capital and some other conferences within an hour or so drive (even if it was a multi-day conference and hotels were authorized I'd usually rather stay at home) since 2019... well, really, I've just done a good job at avoiding work related travel for the past 5 years but the time has come and now I have a trip down to VA in June.

A lot has changed since I last booked travel! Gone are the days where I just go to the office admin and say, "I need to go to XYZ, make it so!" I actually have to book the travel myself and fill out a bunch of crap on WorkDay! This will be a good budget saver for my employe as I am unlikely to want to go through all that rigamarole again anytime soon!

That picture is making my eyes water!
