Now which would you do -

drive 3 hrs to Indy, pay $30 to attend alumni pregame event, pay $130 for a game ticket through alumni. game is at 10 pm, &
either stay at a hotel away from downtown Indy, or drive home after midnight 3 hrs.

OR

Stay home watch the game at home

For all you Caitlin Clark & Iowa Hawkeye fans -

I honestly don't get it. I am a big college basketball fan, live 50 minutes from Iowa City, and can honestly say I haven't seen her play 5 minutes. But if people want to worship her, who am I to judge?

Get on the bandwagon and GO! You are an alum - they NEED you there. Go, dammit, go!

Just go. You don't need anyone's permission or opinion. If you're truly interested, reserve a room for a couple of nights and go. Treat yo self.

I'd go to the game. The environment at the NCAA tournament is incredible. Before I had kids, my buddies and I would go watch the 1st and 2nd round at a site within a two hour drive. One year we went to two different sites on alternating days, that was insane. Rarely, did our "team" play but we always pull for the underdog. I have a collection of shirts of the lowest seed team.

I wouldn't drive home that late, but make if you get a hotel you can spend the next day exploring Indy, or take a leisurely drive back the next day and find some things along the way to check out.

My Jersey hometown was the origination for a couple looking at New Zealand homes on House Hunters last night. They even showed a picture of their Jersey home - I didn't recognize it specifically but have a pretty good idea what neighborhood it is located in. That was fun.

I have come to realization that the best seat to watch a sporting event is the recliner or couch. I also have a parking spot I don't have to pay for and no crowd to wait in line with to get something to eat or use the restroom.

^^^AIB This what I will likely end up doing -

Did not have enough Alumni Priority Points (never said what those were? Donor/Gift amounts ?) to buy a ticket.
Had to put down $130 as deposit to be on a wait list.
Hotels in downtown Indy either booked or over $300 a night.

One of the ridiculous parts about procrastination for me is when I do the thing I have put off for an unreasonable amount of time, it usually takes me little or less time than I thought it would take, so upon completion I think wtf LP!
Isn't this the truth? I've begun looking at things as the little chunks of time they take and try not to think so much about the task and how I feel about the task.

Yep. Plus replays.

Still, I like to go to live sporting events once in a while- maybe a baseball game and a hockey game once a year, give or take.

Is it procrastination
1 - if you get around to it, no deadline?
or
2 - 11th hour panic/rush for a deadline?

I do to as there is something for the experience. More often than not, however, the family box seat usually wins. We did have Pioneer League baseball team locally as an affiliate of the Angels and enjoyed those games. It was a stadium sized for such a team so you always felt close to the action.

On the path of totality, no closure announced but we'll have lots of people work from home that day since traffic might be bonkers. I'll probably come in and be the skeleton crew.

We have the Texas Rangers. We used to also have the Fort Worth Cats, an unaffiliated minor league team. They went out of business about ten years ago. but it was a nice park to take a game in, with a great view of downtown. Now the stadium sits abandoned and will likely be redeveloped into something else.

I find the opposite to be true: It usually takes longer than I think it should. Which is why I procrastinate.

Agreed 100%.

My wife would go to every Michigan home game each season if she had the time. I'm good never going to one in person again but usually do end up at one, or sometimes two, games a season. I used to use the expense and hassle of parking as an excuse to not go but the my wife discovered our elderly neighbor's daughter lives 2 blocks from the Big House and is always willing to save a free spot for us if we want it and she lets us use her facilities and has even fed us after the game on occasion so that I cannot even complain about having to pay for dinner while we wait for traffic to clear out.

I hear the final four is in my town. If anyone is crazy enough to attend I'll buy you a beer while you're in town.

Did they salvage those bricks from the old purple hotel, in Lincolnwood, just outside Chicago?

Up close they look more like bathroom tiles than bricks. It's a really weird house. I always figured it was a small 1940s bungalow that somebody did some funky additions to, but looking it up just now it appears that it was a new build back in 2011. I cannot recall what was there beforehand but I'm sure I walked past a bunch of times as it was getting built and kept thinking, "Who the h3ll designed that?"

We were in talks with the producers to be on House Hunters International when we moved to Germany. We had signed an agreement and everything but it fell apart when we realized we needed everyone's permission who utilized our shared access driveway (12 families).

We were watching House Hunters one evening a few months after we moved in to our house (back in '09) and the couple was looking for a house in our area and the one they bought was on our street a few houses down from us. Later that year we met them while we were out on a walk (they were about our age so we stopped to chat) and we mentioned that we saw them on HH. From what I gather from our few brief interactions with them, it sounded like they had already closed on the house on our street when they did the filming and their realtor worked with the HH producers to find two other comparable houses in the area for them to "consider", even though it was already a done deal. I guess this was pretty standard for the show. I remember the husband telling us that they really loved one of the houses that they looked at on the show and had wished they had seen that one before they had closed.

Yep. We had already moved in and they were going to hire a storage container and movers to move out most of our furniture to make it look less lived in and more on the market. They said as long as we had moved to the area within the past 2-3 years we could be on the show.

Similarly, the house we sold in Toronto appeared later on one of those house flipper shows and included footage of the people who bought it doing their initial walk through, inspection, etc. long after we had moved out and they had closed on the house.

Well I broke my 31-day streak of getting Wordle - I still have 2 more tries but I doubt I will figure it out (don't tell me!)
