Vocabulary for the day -
Catadromous Fish - live in fresh water rivers & estuaries but spawn in the ocean.
Anadromous Fish - live in the ocean but spawn in rivers
Catadromous Fish - eels - who eats them anyway ?
Anadromous Fish - salmon - suppose to be good for you. So ursus, you don't eat salmon?

Egg salad, fried fish....we need a third most potentially deadly food. Candidates wanted. Three-day old boxes of strip-mall Thai food need not apply.

I nominate: Your aunt's potato salad at the family picnic, third hour. You're thinking about seconds, it's sitting on the table edge in the sun. Is it sweating....or glistening? Hard to say. This also applies at times to strangers in dimly lit bars. More often than not the answer is "sweating" but people are famously bad at judging this. You all know you've thought "Glistening!" and eaten that potato salad.....or left with that sweaty stranger.....time will tell.

I said "you're so next!" to a 30 something co-worker and he didn't get the bugs bunny reference to the barber of Seville and I had to send it to him and now I'm a little depressed lol but he liked it and wished his kids were watching that instead so I guess that's something
A group of us talking about a new place & a younger employee asked "Where's it at?" I answered "2 turntables & a microphone" - he just stared at me. The other couple people just started snickering.
I didn't recognize either one of those. I've seen the Rabbit of Seville, but that line just kind of buried in there; I never noticed it.

And I don't have clue what song that second one is from. (Same cartoon? Some pop song?)

I wonder of those are same roots as for Cathode and Anode?

As much as I always wanted that second one to be a Hart Foundation reference with Jimmy Hart yelling, "I've got the Hart Foundation and a megaphone!", it's Beck

I don't as a rule like fish very much, but I do like smoked salmon, and I was a chubby boy, and like all good chubby boy I like Fish & Chips a lot. And with my fellow boy scouts (I escaped the worst that the BSA offered and had fantastic experiences) we caught and cooked Cut-throats, Rainbow, and even on two occasions Golden Trout in the Uinta and Wind Rivers that blew our minds. That's pretty much my limit - no pun intended. :)

Is this a reason I am still still single - wouldn't want to be a women's wrong/bad decision

For a while I've referred to anywhere I can drive within about 14 minutes as being "One Frampton" away - named for the length of Peter Frampton's Do You Feel Like We Do from Frampton Comes Alive. Last night my daughter needed to go to the library for something after dinner so we got in the Jeep and Do You Feel Like We Do happened to be playing. We had already missed the first few minutes but it's not a long drive to the library and I knew we'd get there well before it ended, but she asked to turn on her Broadway Musicals channel. I told her we could listen to her stuff when my song ended.

As we pulled into the parking lot and she could tell the song was nowhere near ending, I explained to her the concept of "A Frampton" and she was intrigued.

This morning we were getting into the Jeep at 7:27 a.m. to take her to jazz band before school and she said, "Dad, we're gonna be late. Jazz starts at 7:30 but we're at least half a Frampton away!" Yes, I was the one who was making us late this time, but I'll count her un-prompted use of "A Frampton" as a definite win!
Anything but the metric system.

Blondie's song 'Rapture' is sometimes cited as being one of the earliest examples of rap appearing in popular music. The song was written in 1979 at a time when disco was still all the rage.
Rap starts in around 2:00

right? I need help, obviously
Would you like it if I were to volunteer to follow you around all day cautioning you/helping whenever you were about to make a questionable judgement?

You're not stopping to get gas at this station are you? There's another station one mile further down the road that's charging 5 cents less per gallon....are you honestly going to bite into that egg salad sandwich? Do you know for a fact when that got put into the fridge?....M&M's for lunch? Don't you think there are healthier choices available?.....those are kinda drab shoes. Don't you have anything more interesting to wear?.....

That wouldn't be at all annoying, would it?

Today is National Tooth Fairy Day. I used to get a quarter when I lost a tooth. Yet my sister only two years younger got a fifty cent piece. WTF?! I understand it's a much more lucrative endeavor these days.

My niece is though. Blonde but actually hazel eyes I think.
I have dark green eyes. I also have really fair skin that tans reluctantly at best. However, I'm mostly Scandinavian and British Isles. Given the vikings raided and settled there, it's not surprising.

And not all Irish are gingers - dark black hair and pale grey eyes here...Black Irish, yo.
My Irish/English family has a 50/50 split of red hair, light eyes and dark hair, dark complexion, brown eyes. The darker complexion is from the English side.

Focus, focus, focus, focus, gotta get this done, focus, focus, WOW, that's a really old Toyota! No no no no no! Focus, focus, focus, focus, this watch makes my hand look really small, that's weird, wait? What am I doing? Oh yeah!

I say that all the time, @Planit ! So funny!!

I know that wasn't the exact phrase from the song that he used but it was so close, I had to do it.
I personally hate it when people use "where" and "at" in the same sentence (unnecessary, and a dangling preposition), but I just silently clinch my teeth. Alas, this usage is becoming acceptable.

The other day I was discussing with my wife about how some car manufacturers want to get rid of AM radio. (I don't see that happening, by the way.) My eight-year-old niece looked at us and asked, "Why would someone want a radio that only works in the morning?"

Like uncle, like niece. :)

Love me some Beck.

Coincidentally, Loser at 30.

Not sure when the last time I listened to AM radio. Disappointed cars no longer come with CD players though.

My last time was to listen to the Chief's playoff games as they were only streaming on Paramount+. It was terrible.

I don't miss CD players, though. I have my entire music library on my phone, which connects to my car. Ripped all the CDs years ago.

I don't have any of the following:
records either 331/3 or 45, cassettes, 8-tracks, CD's, music streaming, or saved on my phone.

I miss CD players in vehicles.

Last time I counted, I have about 3,500 compact discs and even though I have access to Spotify Premium (used to use Amazon Music for years but switched over to Spotify last year for some reason I cannot remember), every once in a while find that a specific album or artist I want to listen to isn't available to stream. I used to know how to load those particular albums to my phone but haven't done that in so long that I've forgotten how.

I go to concerts by independent artists. I buy their CDs, and I have a little collection of older CDs.
