Confused /conflicted -

I have friend requests from people where I used to work.
I never socialized with them outside of work, they are are all married with kids & some are even grand parents.
I really don't have anything in common other than where we worked.
They haven't checked in on me since I retired if that matter. or should they know I live alone & given my health.

should I accept and why ?

They could have sent you friend requests when you were still employed.

I accept friends on contingency. If they don't interact with me, I unfriendly them rather quickly.

I don't know what it was that I ate (maybe the big bowl of cottage cheese I had for breakfast or the mushroom barley soup I had for lunch?) but I feel sorry for whoever comes into my office this afternoon.
Time for a pickled egg or two and a broccoli bowl.

Sounds like a good reason to RJ

Sure, we'll go with that.

Just realized I forgot 2 bikes! We are officially down to 16.

It goes:
1. fatbike
2. fatbike
3. fatbike
4. commuter
5. commuter
6. beater
7. retro cruiser
8. minivelo
9. roadie
10. roadie
11. fixie
12. fixie
13. kid's cruiser
14. kid's cruiser
15. antique folder
16. mountain bike

Wheel sizes from 16-29" are represented. Within that, I only DON'T have 451 wheels (it's a weird 20" size different from 406 which is the bmx size), 28" wheels (but somehow a tire for one, don't know how that got in there), and 650b/27.5 wheels.
Do you have both of the 26 x 1 3/8? Schwinn and everyone else?

Monday was new race bike day for my son. Which brings our house bike count up to 17. I'm in the lead with 7, each kids has 4 and my wife is bringing up the rear with 2.
Ok, we need a breakdown!

A local development consultant (big tall guy) collects only custom steel-frame bikes only in his size. Apparently everybody in the world knows this and knows to email him when one is available. I guess his collection was over 100 when he showed it to me. Beautiful bikes.

Older fatbikes? My Borealis is a 27.5 X 4.00.
I am a huge fan of the non-longtail Salsa Blackborow and we have three of them in the household. I like the Alternator dropout for SS (even ran one fixed for awhile with the cog on a disc brake bolt adapter), I like the ability to clear Vee Snowshoe 2XL tires (which I have on Clown Shoes on my snow-configured fatbike) and I like how they ride with 29+ (which I have my drop bar commuter fattie set up with now).

My son also has both a fat and a 29+ setup on his Blackborow and until this fall it was his "mountain bike" in 29er mode. A friend gave us his old Kona Honzo in October though so that is now his mountain bike.

Drop bar fattie in 29er SS mode from back in the day: (in the BEST color).

Is a soccer mom the same as being a band parent or dance/cheer mom or classroom mom ?

I saw a dude smoking a pipe in his car.. In my best Jim Brewer impression i let it be known that he busted out "westly pipes"

2. Custom Built Haro Single Speed - Haro SS frame, Chris King Pink Headset, Chris King Pink Hubs, FSA Carbon cranks, Manitou Black fork (I had an aluminum Kinesis rigid fork on it when I originally built it and the complete bike weighed just over 17 lbs. Stupid light for a MTB)
3. Redline 9 to 5 Commuter
4. Dyno Deuce - Classic Muscle Cruiser
5. Trek Navigator - Comfort bike I inherited - comfy on the bike path
6. Haro Blackout Pro XL 20" - This is my main race bike
7. DK Sprinter XXL 24" - This was my race bike for Cruiser class

The kids:
8. Haro RaceLite Expert (E)
9. Chase Edge Expert XL (G)
10 & 11. Fat Boy Pit Bikes (G & E)
12. Kink Kicker 18" (E)
13. Kink Launch 20" (G)
14 & 15. Specialized HotRock 24" (G & E)

Why does every city have the same submittal deadline dates? I'm in the middle of uploading document hell.

Speaking of bikes...

Years ago I had a Trek 830 that I put a ton of miles on from the late '90s until I parted ways with it around 2008. I sold it with the intention of putting the money towards a newer bike... which I never did.

Fast forward to early December when a buddy texts me to tell me he found a bike that would be right up my alley at Salvation Army for $50 and sends me a picture of... a Trek 830 in basically NOS condition. He picked it up for me and even replaced the brakes and brake lines. All it cost me was picking up his beer tab next time we went to lunch.

So I sold my 1999 Trek and replaced it with a 1992!

I've cruised around the neighborhood a few times with it and am definitely ready for some nicer weather to get it out for some longer rides and to use it to commute to the gym in the mornings. What better way to warm up for a spin class than to ride my bike there!

There are a lot of the same meeting dates around here. I'm in the process of trying to change my submittal deadlines. Right now we only have 2-3 weeks from 1st submittal to meeting and shot clocks after that. It would be nice to spend just a little bit of time on cases.

Cool! I always wanted a 925 when they came out but could never justify it and the Haro with all that King sounds sick.

On my drop bar fattie, I did spring for purple Paul Klampers when I switched to gears and brifters as nothing else would brake properly.

The Haro actually sounds like a swarm of angry bees.

I did. I let my APA and AICP memberships ride off into the sunset in 2022.

I got the email. My settings keep sending APA emails to my "other" folder because I generally ignore them.

I used to love going on site visits prepping for staff reports. I loved having a rolled up site plan set, walking around an unimproved lot, taking photos and making notes.

I need to go on a site visit this morning. The older me is thinking if I put it off long enough I can combine it with gas station nachos, a mountain dew zero, and I take a photo from the car window as I drive by.

I got mine. What really bugged me was I got the "Hey, don't worry, there's a grace period" email a week or two ago that gave me a minor heart attack because I was sure I finished all my CM. I guess they sent that to people regardless of whether they had met their hours or not.
