It was announced that my fair city's print newspaper was going to be printed out of state.

This is the 3rd time the paper's printing has moved out of town.
1st - Louisville, KY - 2017-2021
2nd - Indianapolis, IN - 2021- 2024
3rd - Columbia, MO - 2024 -

And the newspaper staff intend to uniounize.

Are you running a bike rental/retail/repair shop out of your home ?
I actually did have the beater up on Spinlister when that still existed and even rented it out to a guy once for a couple of bucks!

Really, of the ones that are "mine," I could lose a couple. The two fixies and two 24" wheel cruisers are part of a stationary bike racing setup I used to operate at events. My wife could stand to get rid of her cruiser (It's a Retrotec knockoff Dutch bike that looks cool but she barely ever rides it.)

Showtunes belong in shows and that's it, as far as I'm concerned

Didn't you ever hum along while your grandma sang "Shall we dance, bu-bu-buh," and then mumbled the other words and she was so adorable with her salt and pepper hair and her long fingernails? Don't make me be your showtune grandma, man! I'll do it, man! You know I will!!!!

Apparently the Buffalo News is printed in Cleveland now. I wonder how many people even get a print newspaper anymore.

Speaking of Music, the kids have gotten into the habit of changing the words to popular songs.

For example, Bon Jovi's Bad Medicine is now "Red Venison".

My building division issued a permit that needed a land use entitlement first..Aside from the massive, "why on earth did you issue this without our consultation", they lady wants a refund of her monies spent.. Can't I just be like.. here and serve her a uno reverse card or something.

That's great stuff.

Don't forget to inform them of a couple famous misused lyrics:
1- Excuse me while I kiss this guy
2 - There's the bathroom on the right

Bought a new computer

WOW - what difference going from a 20 inch to 27 inch screen

My mom did that and I hated it. She can't carry a tune with a bucket.

So I've been eating sandwiches.

I'm not talking about peanut butter and jelly; I'm talking about making the kind of sandwiches you get in a deli. Stuff like:
  • Turkey clubs
  • Grilled roast beef and cheese
  • Tuna melts
  • Pulled pork
  • And today: A roast beef sub
I used to work in a restaurant decades ago, but it's like riding a bike: You don't forget. I found some pretty good sub rolls at the store, get the deli meats, the cheeses, the lettuce, tomato and onion.

I'd been stuck in a microwave meal rut for a while, but making sandwiches makes lunch more interesting.

Oh, I also made French onion soup this weekend; it came out delicious. My son and daughter-in-law were over for dinner Saturday and I made the soup, and put it in little crocks with the baked bread croutons on top and cheese on top of that, melted under the broiler.

Another thing I came up with is I used the heel of a loaf of French bread, hollowed it out some, and put in pork heated up with the French onion soup as kind of a thin gravy. If I ever open a restaurant I'm gonna put that on the menu: French bread stuffed with French onion pork.

Sandwiches are so versatile.

In our new location for city hall, we share the kitchen and break area with another company - I need to get in the office earlier because whomever is making that first pot of coffee keeps using flavored coffee :fail: :coffee: :fingersdownthroat::ttth:
In honor of Mardi Gras season, we broke out the chicory coffee this morning. Not sure if it counts as flavored or not. Unfortunately, no beignets.

My step-daughter is 11 years older than her younger sister. Because my step-daughter rotated houses weekly, my wife always made sure that she had a home cooked meal when she was with us. She was horrified to learn on a recent visit home from college that we eat sandwiches three nights a week. My younger daughter and I both love good sandwiches.

I have discovered that the roast beef sandwich you can get at Costco is a decent and economical meal that does not leave me feeling the way a Costco hot dog makes me feel.

When we have roast pork for a Sunday dinner, we'll frequently use the leftovers on Monday to toast up super tasty Cuban sandwiches on the cast iron griddle. (and I'll take any excuse to post a Sam the Cooking Guy video)

My daughter gave me one of those machines that pumps out mist and you put some scent in it and she gave me lavender and I love lavender but I have been waking up with a splitting headache omg - I am thinking of trying eucalyptus as I hate to tell her that I can't use it as she was so happy to get it for me

No, what is it?
Pinon is an aromatic wood that people use in their chimeneas which smells kind of like frankincense to me. This company roasts their beans over pinon wood and it gets a very good flavor that reminds me of chicory. It's best when you're camping in the snow or the mountains, but can also take you there temporarily if brewed at home :)

I heard that some of those fragrances are potentially harmful to dogs. So if you have a dog I wouldn't use it.

How dare you speak ill of the $1.50 hot dog combo...

Speaking of loss leader.. the wife and I where conversing with resident teenager #1 about how on earth could she spend $20 bucks at Mickey Ds... we let her know that back in our day, you know, when al Gore invented the internet n junk.. Mickey Ds used to have a promo of $0.30 hamburgers and $0.45 cheeseburgers. What a time to be alive.

You'll find a scent that won't kill you or your dog. But this reminds me....the shirts I have worn because they were gifts.....I wish I could show you...

I'm a big guy, and my mom loves colors and patterns. From 2005 - 2011 or so, when I finally confronted my mother and wife, it looked like I shopped at Charles Barkley's garage sales.

Ugh, I cannot tolerate those things. Every scent gives me a headache.

Maybe there's a deal that just humidifies in one of those things? That'd be nice (at least where I live, where there is no water in the air naturally...>)

If only Sinbad had had an Etsy shop back then for shoes, I could have been complete!

It's probably verboten now, but Heathcliff Huxtable could probably have given you a run for your money in the ugly sweater category.

Aliexpress regularly recommends that I buy this shirt:

Itty Bitty and I often listen to the Showtunes stations on the drive into school/work. It warms my heart to hear her getting ready for bed and humming, "Getting to Know You". Yesterday it was some songs from "Hadestown".

My oldest LOVES showtunes and she and my wife and our youngest went to go see My Fair Lady at the theatre this past weekend. The local high school is putting on Mean Girls as their winter musical and today all the 8th graders from the three middle schools get to go see a daytime performance of it at the high school (she should be about halfway through it right now) so she and a few of her friends were really excited about that.

This year, the middle school is putting on Annie as their spring musical and this is the first time my daughter has decided she's brave enough to try out for a part other than the ensemble, so in the evening when she's in her room doing homework we get treated to her practicing 'The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow" over and over again.

I heard a stand up comedian talking about how it's going to be tougher for old people in the future to be taken seriously when complaining about how bad they had it when they were kids.....
What is this 'save game' feature? Something you hit right before a boss fight? Why we never had any save game feature back when we were kids. No sir, if you died fighting Black Pete, you had to go all the way back to the start of magic hippo land again!

You're going to have to use something like Dawn detergent to dissolve the lavender oil. Enjoy the bubbles!😉
