I had an elderly gentleman call to tell the toilet in his apartment was clogged. I asked him if he called a plumber to look into it. He said no because he pay taxes. I transferred him to water & sewer.

I know that was bad form, but I didn't have anything else to say after that.

I hope they have a sense of humor ...

This is all I got. If I eat somewhere interesting on accident I promise to remember to take a picture and post it. Love you, Hinky. :)

Every packzi I've had has been filled. These are flat. May be plain, glazed, powdered sugar, but pretty simple.

Irregardless, I never heard of fasnachts growing up in Buffalo. Of course Paula's Donuts wasn't established until over a decade after I left... if they're the ones who popularized them, I missed it.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge collapses video & pictures
Working in the moving industry in New Jersey, I've been over the Key Bridge many times on trips to/from Florida , moving retirees from the cold winters of the MidAtlantic to the Sunshine State. I have gephyrophobia, so I didn't care to go over bridges to start, but the Key Bridge was especially traumatizing because it was so high above the water and felt rather narrow. Seeing this just rationalizes an otherwise irrational fear.

(It's probably just me, but the container ship almost appears as if it was aiming for that bridge pier, turning as it did prior to the collision. I hope there was a problem with the rudder/controls, and not something more evil.)

I remember them from before Paula's. During lent they would even be in the supermarket donut cases.

You can see in the video where the ship goes dark twice, as well as some smoke - something went wrong with the ship and it drifted into the bridge.

I did read that there were not many cars on it because of the early hour, but that there were construction workers working on it.

It bugs me when people use the word 'upkeep' instead of 'maintain'.

Their efforts to upkeep the property were unsuccessful.

That is my pedant contribution for the moment.

Seconded. And I'll raise you this: I don't like when people use "comprise" outside the passive form. The project does not "comprise" three properties to me; it can only "be comprised of" three properties. I know that it's OK both ways - stand down, all those of you who like the non-passive form and probably also say things like "This room needs cleaned!" Infinitives matter! Infinitives matter! You're not Charlton Heston playing a Scottish miner! You're not Coin Hay telling stories of his reckless youth! You're not sending a telegram in 1896! Throw that infinitive in there, dammit!!!

Interesting though, as I'm thinking. Is it a regional thing? I never thought of that....

Property composed of 16 acres comprising a majority of the structures compescing the quality of our built environment.

You specifically should not say that to avoid the long walk down the hall to HR

lol

I came in here to say that barbecue chicken pizza is really not necessary
Right? I mean, just have a chicken sandwich if that's what you want! I don't jive with all this creative food. Having a bologna sandwich today. Well, and some hotcakes if the stars align....

I HATE when people leave out infinitives! I never encountered such until moving out west and my (otherwise wonderful) boss said "Faust, your timesheet needs fixed.." :grimace:

irregardless vs. regardless

I'm sitting in a meeting and one of the participants used the word "irregardless". It struck me with the cadence of her statement, saying "irregardless" flowed better than "regardless" so I'm going to say that the non-standard "irregardless" is the result of speech patterns/verbal ticks.

Understandably. Upkeep is not a verb.

You spelled ignorance wrong.

WE JUST SAW OUR FIRST REAL HEDGEHOG IN OUR BACKYARD!!!!!

This reminds me of this amazing cartoon series we had for our kids that they loved - we loved them because they were hand drawn and the quality of the art was fantastic

and on the upzoning - the lily white suburban folks thinks upzoning means single family - like movin on up (the east side) kind of thing lol
