A small sliver of Nevada, where I live, is in the Mountain Time Zone, but the whole state moves forward and back at the same time.

I think it's the whole state but I wouldn't be surprised is Bullhead City follows Nevada time.

Reminds me of a movie I once saw where an officer gives a stirring speech and then leads his soldiers in the charge, only to get gunned down two seconds into the action, giving everyone else pause to consider.

Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" has a similar reaction for me - anytime a DJ seems like their not keeping the party going, they'll play that song.

What kills me is they play it at Red Wings games. There is no such place as "South Detroit." Detroit is cut off by the Detroit River... "South Detroit" is basically Windsor, Ontario. Steve Perry said he picked South Detroit because to him it sounded better than North, West or East Detroit in the lyrics. (East Detroit is actually a real city, although it was renamed Eastpointe a couple decades back, and even that is messed up; it's north of Detroit.)
 
Now the one arena anthem I like is the Jack White song Seven Nation Army. It's really just the bass line of the song (which was actually played on a guitar, not a bass), chanted by the crowd: Ohhh Oh OH Oh Oh Ohhhhhh Ohhhhh


The title of the song comes from Jack hearing "Salvation Army" wrong when he was a small boy.

I'm pretty sure 103% of the people here get the irony of that "South Detroit" line in Don't Stop Believing and that's why they join in so loudly on that particular line at games and events around here.

FWIW though, that song still sucks, but it sucked even before it got popular at arena events. but I agree with you that Sweet Caroline was a good song until it got ruined by sports fans and drunk bar patrons (I actually really like a lot of Neil Diamond stuff).

I am constantly feeling stressed and overwhelmed and don't have time to do anything. So of course I am considering taking up quilting.

Well that planning board meeting today was an absolute joke. Only one board member raised any concern and asked questions. The rest sat there and did nothing, rubber stamped their approval recommendation, and walked out.

I simply cannot afford to hire any attorney to fight this, so I guess it is what it is. Time to pack up and get out of here.

Here's what you do in that situation.... Read the town's ordinance and verify their notification process. 9 days prior to the public hearing for the town council, submit a FOIA request for the contents of the file, specifically focusing on the notification process. The day of the hearing, send a email to the town manager, town attorney, and council members calling out everything that doesn't conform to state statue and/or city code; and cc the editor of the local paper and the applicant. Reference city code and state statues that apply and casually mention that you may seek legal council depending on their response and that you are aware that you have 60 days after the meeting to appeal their action. They may delay the project and go back and follow their ordinance and state statues. If you took legal action, the likely outcome is the judge would rule that they had to redo the case following their procedure and state statues; unless there was evidence of conflict, graft, or corruption. If they meet the state statues and their ordiance, there likely isn't any recourse.

Wendover and Jackpot follow Mountain Time.

We went camping outside of Ely one summer, at the end of June. That city is so far east in the time zone that dawn cracks about 3 a.m. Takes getting used to.
