Cyburbans 🧐 NPC26 Detroit

Finally registered. Don't have to worry about flights or hotel. Although I may spring for a hotel for a couple nights and see if the wife wants to spend the weekend downtown.
I'll see/meet you there...we need to hang for some lunch or something. I also just registered today and my boss and I will drive in from Chicagoland likely on Friday afternoon.

I'm weirdly excited for the Huron Pines session on Tuesday talking about Lake Huron preservation in/around Alpena, MI. A place and subject matter I know well.

Interesting MI and Lake Huron facts: Port Huron MI and Alpena, MI are the 1st and 2nd largest cities on the US Lake Huron shores.

Wifey has approved my going to a Red Wings playoff game, if there should be one one evening during the conference and I go with at least one other person. (Wouldn't be fun by myself anyway.) But I have to either a) bring her something from the gift shop, and/or b) throw an octopus onto the ice. I think option a is easier.

Expect tickets to be EXTREMELY expensive, especially on the secondary market. They haven't been to the playoffs in 10 years and the demand for ticktets is going to be astronomical.

You know I am going one way or another if the schedule lines up.

I think $100-125 would be reasonable. Even though these would be coming out of my personal funds* and not our joint funds, I don't see myself wanting to spend more than that. Maybe as high as $150.

(*We put most of our money into our joint accounts, but we each get a certain amount of every check that goes into a separate fund that is ours to spend as we wish.)

Oddly, she decreed that anything I do in Detroit that carries CM credit, like the bus tours, can come out of our joint funds since it's career development. It's the same ruling she has made for previous conferences. (Even if I was not AICP at that time, they WOULD HAVE carried credit so that was close enough for her.)

So how do I lobby APA for CM credit for a hockey game? :)
