Hi,
I am happy to join the group. I am a long time planner and an AICP Fellow. I was planning director for Brookline, Mass; Marin County, Calif; Tucson, AZ; and San Diego County, CA. I started my own firm, Zucker Systems, in 1982. We do organization, management and process studies for planning and building departments and have completed studies for over 150 cities and counties in 29 states. I have written five books on the topic including the ABZs of Planning Management being used as a text for several universities. My latest book, Mis Management, is a cartoon book of 154 cartoons and brief related management commentary. On the Internet I am known as the Management Doctor and answer management questions over my web site. I have had over 10,000 planers in my seminars and am in the process of converting these to a series of Webinars. I need to study the rules for this site. If allowed I'll share a few of my cartoons.

whoa Nellie, we have a planning celebrity in our midst! :wow:oh:<:D

a thousand welcomes from way up in downeast Maine!

saw you speak in Minneapolis - thanks for joining! :)

Welcome from the Hoosier State.

Senior planner for an Area Plan Commission (combined city/county dept).

Awesome! Welcome aboard, from a fan (attended two of your sessions at the Minneapolis conference) and, hopefully someday, an attendee at one of your management seminars! :)

Well, Paul Zucker, welcome to you. I'll have to look up the books.

WOW!

Welcome from Western Arizona, via Southern Florida and most of Colorado:D

Now that RJ is not the most famous member of Cyburbia, you'll need to give us your opinion on RJ'ing:-o;)

Paul, welcome from the Florida panhandle. :h:

Doctor, tell us your story about Santa Cruz County, CA. :not:

Remember Dan and Mike? :lmao:

I was a bit player during that period, but heard enough. :D

Now where did I put that stamp......

Welcome Paul, from that guy from NH that traveled to TX in February for your workshop. :b:

Welcome to the forums, Paul! another Hoosier, hard by the Ohio river, here.

I attended your Planning Director's class in Louisville, KY in 2003 and now find myself in the hot seat. I feel a lot more prepared for the responsibilities as a direct result of your classes. Well worth it!

I look forward to seeing you around the forums!:)

Wow I've seen you at APA too!

Gosh what other planning celebs who can we get next on board? Kevin Bacon? Queen Noor? Prince Charles?

I was with Paul in DC in 1989 at an AICP Planners' Training Service Program. We had dinner with an inebriated fellow from Washington State (not associated with us or APA) who kept repeating how embarassingly high his salary was. After we got rid of the fool, Paul and I commented that if he makes so much money, why didn't he pay the bill?

By the way, Paul's "The Management Idea Book" was available: list price - $16.95; special workshop price - $16.95.

Hello from small town Texas. Took one of your classes a few years ago, and I highly recommend them for anyone interested in learning more about leadership in planning.

Greetings from NJ. Saw you at APA in Minneapolis!

Welcome Paul, from south Texas.

Cyburbia *loves* planning celebrities like you!
