Subdivision ➗ Lot vs. parcel?

Does your local code or state code differentiate the two?
Yes.

Parcel is typically the term for a metes & bounds description of an area of land.

A lot is often used as short hand for 'lot of record' which is used for a specific area of land denoted/described in a formal subdivision.

My zoning code uses 'Lot' as a general term which can include a lot of record or a legally recorded parcel.

A few months ago @UrbanUnPlanner started a thread where "lot" versus "parcel" versus "<something else>" was discussed in detail:

As for your question about our local codes, NYC appears to be discouraging the use of the word "parcel".
NYC's zoning term glossary concentrates on the word "lot".

Lot is the term we use that includes in whole, or in part, parcels, tracts, or areas of land. We include 16 definitions that include the word lot and none (Zed, zero, zilch) that define parcel. :blueshirt:
