Started watching that last night. It is funny, but like you said there's a cringe factor in there. I definitely want to watch a few more episodes to see where it goes.

I told The Girl about it because I want her opinion due to the nature of it.
There are only 5 1/2 hour episodes . . .

I don't binge watch much, but I have to say this is a really good show. It stars Natashia Lyonnne, as Charlie Cale who has the unique ability to tell if people are telling the truth or lying through their teeth. Think of her as a R-Rated, foul-mouthed version of Columbo. I can only watch one episode at a time, however, and never past 8:00PM. It's quite intense and had me on edge all last night.

Is anybody surprised I don't have or watch any of this "streaming" that you speak of ?

I guess I am missing out again as usual.

Doing the 7-day trail for HBOMax this week and I've gotten into Barry.

The first season is great, but I'm not sure I care enough to move into the second season given the events and actions of the 1st season finale by Barry.

Plus, I have a couple more days access to Succession and The Last of Us and many other good shows and movies, so...we might just do the full subscription and see.

We really like Poker Face (though the 6th episode was sort of weak). It's a fun show and there have been a lot of fun/interesting guest spots. I think I saw that it's already been picked up for a second season.

I liked Barry -

I just finished Arrested Development - they are pulling it from Netflix so if you wanted to see it, this is your only chance to see all five seasons.

I liked it - I think people may be oversensitive to the homophobic jokes and they are pulling it for that - but as a mom of a gay daughter (and my daughter agrees) that the joke is the point of how ridiculous people are about gayness

Big Henry Winkler fans there in the LP household? If so, you should check out Childrens Hospital. Also highly recommended if you are fans of The State or Wet Hot American Summer or David Wain.

Got caught up on The Last of Us and watched all of Station Eleven.

The Last of Us is really good except for the 'zombie' plot device (I'm tired of this crutch). The cinematography, acting, directing, writing and editing is stellar.

Station Eleven is a beautiful meditation on the essential good of humans, learning to cope, overcoming trauma and forgiveness.

I watched the first two episodes of Station Eleven when it first came out and enjoyed it but stopped because I decided I wanted to read the book.

I actually bought the book 5 or 6 years ago (David Plotz from the Slate Political Podcast kept talking about it and how great it was) but never picked it up. Maybe I'll finally start that one after I finish my current read.

The book is very good too. I read it about 5-6 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a refreshing take on civilization ending/survival fiction genre.

Just finished up watching available episodes of The Repair Shop on the Discovery+ Channel through Roku. Anyone else seen or like this show?

It feels spiritually kind of like Antique Roadshow, in that random people bring in all sorts of odd and usually very old items. The show features expert craftspeople - carpenter, clockmaker, leatherworker, painter, ceramics etc. who restore items having great personal value but are no longer made.

We are not into crime/detective shows, but this was pretty good. The dog needed more screen time, though.

Started into Season 1 of Doom Patrol on HBOmax.

While George Takei is alive and well, people might want to see him in the 1964 Twilight Zone episode, "The Encounter".

You likely couldn't see it in the U.S. until 2004 because the episode had been banned from U.S. syndication.

Premise: A grizzled white WWII veteran and a young Japanese-American (Takei) are stuck in an attic full of WWII paraphernalia, including a samurai sword.
The dialogue and acting are mesmerizing.

So many youtube clips give away part/all of the ending!!

Found clip that's compelling, but does not give it away:

We started working our way through Fringe again recently so I guess that means I could use some suggestions for new shows. We love JJ Abrams and time travel (apparently I like beginner sci-fi -- who knew?!) but I'm open to anything well done. I've looked through recent posts and added a few to my ongoing suggestion list.

Yep, I watched that last night...I think I like the pacing of the series a bit better.
It is a commentary of what people are willing to watch. I liked the streaming/ PPV element. As long as it was anonymous, people were willing to watch to. However, if it wasn't, they scattered.

My wife and I started on the HBO production of John Adams (starting at his defense of the British soldiers from the Boston Massacre)

It's wordy and talking, talking, talking...but I guess that's apropos given the times and events.

For those of you watching Mando Season 3, what did you think of Dr. Pershing's PowerPoint, err, uh, TED talk in the round of the Coruscant opera house?!

It was ok background color for world building purposes, but the entire time during this diversion I was thinking 'this is nice...but the point?'.

It needs a sentence or two int he script explaining why we're leaving Din and Grogu and Bo for a tour of Coruscant. I think we're only left to presume this will matter latter in the season.

But it was all decently acted and gorgeously visual.

On another subject - Ep9 of The Last of Us. Whoa.

Might start Shadow and Bone this weekend.
I couldn't get into the book or the show. I think I watched the show during some time off with COVID induced delirium so I might try again.

I've been watching Party Down. I tried it a few years ago and never got past the first two episodes. Thought it was pretty funny this time. It's got a ton of cameos.

It's no Mandalorian or Last of Us, but it'll do.

I'm loving all the news coming out of Celebration today!

(Some Youtube commenter said, "To all the Clone Wars fans since 2008, this is our time." and I'm like, "To all the Thrawn fans since 1991's 'Heir to the Empire', this is our time!")
I was excited to see the Purgill in the hyperspace lanes on Mando a couple weeks ago and then to see Zeb last week.

Following Yellowjackets new season as well as Ted Lasso, Rabbit Hole, and finished Liasion - all really good!

Watching The Recruit on Netflix too which is good
