Caught the first two episodes of the second season of White Lotus on HBO. Saw an editorial on New York Times that posited the show is examining the ways masculinity is diminished in today's society. Or something like. The article got me intrigued.

The show's themes were interesting so far, however, the characters are a bit cartoonish. I am struggling to find a character that I can relate to. Perhaps the Aubrey Plaza character is likeable for me? Would like to hear her inner dialogue. Maybe more characters need to be more upfront with their world views? Or would that be annoying like Sex and the City? Or maybe it is too much like Stranger Things with a large cast chasing too many subplots that do not converge in a satisfying way? Or maybe it is just me?

Anybody else watching this? Would love to hear your thoughts!

That is in large part likely due to the fact that the showrunner/creator is the same person that co-wrote the Rogue One movie.

I've been sort of rewatching Game of Thrones with my daughter. Really I'm just selectively picking certain episodes to watch.

I watched the show, then read the books, and now its almost impossible for me to watch the show with all the different characters and plot lines they left out.

Seems like the writers are channeling some Vonnegut from Mother Night.

Finished off season 1 of The Frankenstein Chronicles (from 2015?) last night on Prime/BritBox - engaging enough for the first five episodes, meh on the season finale.
 
We finished the latest season of Ink Masters last night. I think they're 14 seasons in and I wasn't sure I was going to like the new host and judges but it was full of super talented artists so I still liked it. The only annoying part of the new format: Dave Navarro did a quick cameo in every episode via video but it was obvious he wasn't actually speaking to the team but that everything was prerecorded. I like Dave Navarro a lot but he's not a good actor and those segments didn't seem to have a real purpose.

OTOH, I read that he is dealing with some health issues so if that's the reason he's home, I can't fault him for that.

I watched the first episode of season 2 last night. It was nice because Hardison was back but I gather he's once again not going to be part of the regular season. I'm sorry but Leverage without the whole Hardison - Elliot conflict is sadly lacking. Feels two dimensional. Maybe the writers are getting tired because the storyline of that episode felt kind of worn out too.
 
Coming off the heels of watching The Mandalorian, I watched the first episode of Andor really wanting to like the show. The production quality was high, the story you could tell portends some complexity BUT I confess it didn't 'hook' me. Maybe things improve in episode 2.

We are loving Andor - yes

Watching the new season of Manifest thinking it was new and then realizing I had seen it on the network app when it was on live - it's so funny watching network shows, so many pauses in scenes for commercials and way too many "can someone tell me what's going on here" that I don't see on streaming shows

Searched for historical roasts last night & couldn't find it. Dunno, Netflix might have dropped it.
 
Currently watching the original Star Trek series. Wow, most of the episodes so far in season 1 have not aged well at all. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised. Maybe sci fi has a short shelf life.

Finished Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area (Netflix), started Young Wallander (also Netflix).
 
I'm finally getting around to watching Stranger Things. I just started season 3. As a late Gen X'er, I absolutely LOVE this show. It's my childhood. Without the Stranger Things, obvs.

I'm glad you like it. I got bored with it after Season 1. For me, Season 3 incorporates too many 80s memes, taking me out of the story. Season 4 is a big improvement, in my opinion, but still has too many memes for me to really get into it. However, my 13-yeard old absolutely loves it!
 
Not really "binge" but sometimes watch two in a row via DVR and that is CBS Sunday Morning. Prefer to sleep in on Sunday morning or the Mrs. works a 12 and leaves the house at 5AM. Now, if you don't mind, need to fill my bird feeder and clean up my white New Balance sneakers.
 
Since my Christmas plans got canceled, I started watch the current season of the Umbrella Academy. It's better than I thought it would be. I finished the sea wolves of Vancouver Island. It's pretty good. I'm a sucker for a nature documentary that to having grown up watching Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom.
 
RT just finished White Lotus Season 2, I haven't watched it at all but might. Season 3 of Emily in Paris just dropped and I'm two episodes in. I like it even though it's ridiculous :ha:
