I liked Leverage, but haven't wanted to start Redemption for whatever reason. Somebody mentioned to me that Leverage was basically a modern reboot of the A-Team and I can definitely see the similarities. Leverage needed more RVs with machine gun mounts and water cannons.
And the granddaddy of all caper shows featuring various specialists would be 'Mission Impossible'. But yes, A-Team had much of the comedic chemistry you see in Leverage.

My wife and I binged God's Favorite Idiot on Netflix over the weekend. I thought it was hilarious.

It stars Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone. I usually like both of them on their own or when he writes/directs stuff specifically for her but the few times I've seen them together where he also has a pretty significant roles were generally duds. This one was definitely not a dud.

FWIW, the McCarthy's character came off as sort of grating in the trailer on Netflix but I'll blame that more on the whoever put the trailer together and didn't really give any attention to the side characters that they work with, who are all great.

God's Idiot had some good bits that were funny, but overall I just didn't find the thing hilarious. McCarthy has some great lines and attitude as always and whoever player Tom had some great scenes like looking in the stalls, but that's about it. I was also disappointed with the end of the season. No resolution, just a big cliff hanger. I was waiting to see where they were going with the show, but it was just a string of events for the different characters with no end theme. Maybe season 2 will be better.

I was sort of disappointed with the ending too but read that it was planned to be 16 episodes with them all to be released at once but for some reason Netflix decided to push out the first 8 now and then wait to do the next 8 at a later date. I think we've gotten so used to Netflix dropping everything on us all at once that we're not really accustomed to cliffhangers any more.

That would explain it. It wasn't so much of a cliff hanger as just cutting for the next episode. Maybe Netflix is trying to stretch it's show like Disney? Only release part at a time to make you subscribe for more than just one month. At least it's not the Disney one show a week model.

I'm four episodes into Money Heist: Korea on Netflix - it's sticking pretty close to the Spanish original thus far.

I couldn't even make it through the first episode.

Getting caught up on In The Dark on CW (no really, it's good)

Finished I Love That For You on Hulu and it was good light fun

Likely will watch Stranger Things new season next

I watched a couple seasons of Elementary when it was on network tv several years ago, but now that it's on Hulu, I've restarted the series.

I'm watching Umbrella Academy with the wife. That means whenever she has time between the hundreds of wife things she does while watching the cooking show on the DVD and complaining she never gets to watch anything because she's always doing things.

FYI, Telling her to stop doing things is the wrong answer.

I really liked I Love That For You. It got a little crazy in the final episode or two, but in a good way. I hope we get another season of it as I really enjoy Vanessa Bayer.

We started season 2 of Only Murders in the Building last night. I was a little worried but we're two episodes in and so far it seems a little funnier than the first season.

Restarted on Season 1 of The Umbrella Academy. I'm on ~ep 6 and it finally got going.

The first couple episodes didn't grab me and that's why I bailed about a year ago.

Yeah, season 1 has to get going before you start getting weird.
And the intro of The Handler (Kate Walsh...swoon :daydream: )

And the idea of a Time Variance Authority-like entity.

I love a good time cop mind f-ery plot as well.

I saw the first two seasons. I'm not sure I want to see the third season.

I've started watching House on Peacock. The good doctor and I are kindred spirits, except for the drug usage on his part.

I've been switching back and forth between, Under the Banner of Heaven, Lincoln Lawyer, and The Old Man.

As has been mentioned Lincoln Lawyer is the easiest to binge and probably the better pacing. I could watch another season.

The Old Man is a little slow at times, but Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow are so good.

Under the Banner of Heaven has been decent. The depiction of some of the religious fervor within the family feels very realistic and little scary. Its been hard to watch more than one episode at a time, but overall well done with quality acting.

We started The Man Who Fell to Earth last night. My wife got a little bored with it after the first half hour and decided to turn in early. I was hooked though and stayed up until nearly 1:00 a.m. to make it through three more episodes. I hadn't stayed up that late to binge a show in a very long time (probably not since I got hooked on Lupin back before Christmas and made it through the whole season in two nights).

I had never heard of The Old Man until listening to a podcast yesterday that gave a pretty positive review of it. I really want to check that out now too.

I really enjoyed this show, although I'm a sucker for anything Sherlock Holmes.

...
Loved Lincoln Lawyer. I want to see Matthew McConaughey play a cameo part in the next season.

We started watching Criminal Minds this week and really enjoyed it -- and of course, Netflix pulled it from their lineup today. I'm halfway through season 1 (of 15). Hmphh!

I tend not to have many bad dreams but whenever I watch an episode of Criminal Minds I end up having nightmares.

So many shows, especially dramas, are serialized now with seven or eight episode or season-long arcs that if you miss a couple of weeks, you really miss a lot so it can be difficult to just watch a random episode every now and then. Criminal Minds (along with NCIS) always seemed like one of the few remaining procedurals to resist going to those long arcs so that used to be one of my go-to shows where if I just wanted some mindless TV I could sit down and watch it, but there was more than a few episodes where I'd get about 8 or 10 minutes in and be like, "Nope. No more of this one!"

I used to leave work a bit early every other month to stop at the Red Cross and donate blood. I always thought it was funny that whenever I'd go in there at like 3:00 p.m. on a random weekday they'd ALWAYS have Criminal Minds playing on the TVs in the room where all the beds were. Seemed like an odd choice.

I thought of that actually and thought that maybe watching 15 seasons straight through might not be good for my psyche after all. I read that Mandy Patinkin left the show after three seasons because it was too heavy.

Yeah, I can see what Patinkin was talking about. I remember reading some sort of analysis about violence and gore on television and among network shows, Criminal Minds was generally the show with the most violence and the most gore on screen (though I have to imagine that it's sort of subjective in how it's measured).

I was the same way. I loved the show but around 2009-10 I had to take a break from it because it was just too dark and depressing week after week.
I had a somewhat similar reaction to the show, Snapped. I found it super interesting and was watching it every other day or so for a few weeks and realized my attitude was awful and I was just angrier at the world. Had to stop watching it all together.

I watched all of the Terminal List. It was entertaining, but to me it just dragged on too long. It could have been done in 4-5 episodes instead of 8.

Still liking Dark Winds. As I understand it, the upcoming 4th episode is the end of it. I hope they do another.

Finished Stranger Things season 4 and...ok.

I'll likely watch the next (last?) season simply for completism and the visual artistry, but the total storyline is a barely a B grade (so far).

Enjoying Dark Winds. Makes me want to go back to New Mexico for a visit. I enjoyed all the Tony Hillerman novels when I was younger. So it is fun to see plus Hubby hasn't read any of the books so I can be an authority.

I am following along on the new season of Murders In The Building and it's good - it's light, it's fine, and it's often just what I need for escapism

Also watching the second season that dropped on Netflix for Capitani and it's not as good as the first season

We finished Obi-wan Kenobi and Picard Season 2 (Hubby doesn't binge - he still savors).

After our trip to South Dakota, we started Deadwood. Some good names in it - and we were wondering how we missed it the first time round.

I'm caught up on Dr. Who. Hubby finished whatever scary/mystery series he was watching, so we'll have to find some new ones to watch without the other.

Right now we watch the following shows together:
-For All Mankind (Season 3's off to an interesting start)
-Last Week Tonight
-Deadwood
-House Hunters (for lighter fare; typically only watch the cities we have either been or are interesting in living in)
-The Daily Show

Not a show, but I did watch the movie The Arrival last night. Solid. It was a bit mind bending with time, reminded me a little of Tenet
