Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Tuesday

1 - got cultured over the weekend - went to the symphony on Saturday night & a community theatre play on Sunday
We could tell you've been conducting yourself with a certain....air of sophistication this week. So it was the symphony.

Which reminds me, do you know why you always feel so sophisticated in the bathroom? Because European.

1. This is the first year I've started seeds indoors and haven't really felt fired up about it.
2. Maybe that will change once they emerge
3. No idea what to have with dinner tonight.
4. Burgers on the backyard grill sound good but it's supposed to storm later on]
5. Despite every phone being a camera, I still am attached to the notion of having a designated camera device.

1) Need more coffee. While yesterday was long because of P&Z, I still feel like I'm trying to catch up on sleep lost over the weekend.

2) No big plans the rest of this week.

3) Don't you hate it when you find a paper cut because you put hand sanitizer on?

4) I've got two BOA case reports to write. One of the applicants is a nice guy; the other is an a-hole.

5) I'm glad it's raining. I just wish it wouldn't rain during my commute.

1. Great time Sunday night with a high school classmate I had not seen since graduation in 1989. Came for a ski weekend.
2. Meeting tonight with one item for me and they have already reviewed conceptually so should be a rubber stamp.
3. Job interview for a CDD position on Thursday. Closer to home would be great.
4. Would likely be my last and good for pension calculation.
5. 27.5 years in the system.

1.

2. Is today Tuesday?
3. Supervisor is forcing bonding with the new person on us.
4. Afternoon dinner I got up from the table and said, "I'm done. I'm going to bed."
5. Read through a bunch of old posts on here. Lots of people have moved on.

1) Going to be a long night - I need to have a come-to-Jesus talk with Hubby.

2) My sister got some sad news from her vet. :'( :catonalaptop:

3) New girl is not fitting in. While I thought she'd be able to do the work, I am surprised at her level of entitlement.

4) It's been chilly the last couple of days. Glad that I kept a couple sweaters in easy reach after Marie Kondoing my closet.

5) This week is going to be busy!

1. Not quite ready for 80 degree weather in March.
2. Need take down a blue spruce in my yard - not a dwarf.
3. Likely missed out on a 1950s aluminum Christmas tree, with rotating light, on FB marketplace. No response from seller. Wife really wants one.
4. MiL gets knee replacement surgery next week. Hope she is ready for Alaska in September.
5. Chocolate chip date cake is always a hit with my family - third generation to enjoy. Mom picked up recipe in nursing school in the 1950s.

1) I was just informed that the local Irish restaurant is violating all sorts of sign codes today. I think I will send Code Enforcement out later this week. They already left for the day. One of them is likely having a beverage at said establishment.

2) We are having our pool refinished for the next couple of days. The owners before us didn't check their chemicals and didn't appear to take good care of the pool. We could have gotten another few summers out of it before we 'needed' to do something, but it was better to just do it now and get it done.

3) New girl is not fitting in. While I thought she'd be able to do the work, I am surprised at her level of entitlement.
3) Ours is doing great! Only a few months in, but she has past experience and her AICP already and is really fitting into the culture well.

4) My eldest's girlfriend is staying for dinner tonight. She seems very nice.

5) I need to figure out a creative way to address a vacant drive through restaurant that is owned by the corporation and won't sell to anyone who they view as a competitor, which is any establishment that serves food or beverages, regardless of form or where they are being consumed.

!! Same with our new girl!
I hate to sound like that old guy, but at this point I'm convinced there's a kernel of truth to the stereotypes surrounding younger workers. There is no way I would have conducted myself at work in my late 20s like I have witnessed some of these kids doing. Never would have crossed my mind to act that entitled.

There is truth to that. I had to ask a new guy fresh out of undergrad to stop playing games on his phone while in meetings.

On the flip side, there was a young lady at my last job that was a freaking rock star despite it being her first real job. She was more mature in behavior than most the older staff and was quickly promoted when a position opened up.

I think a lot of it is how a person is raised.
