Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Tuesday

1. PIZZA!
2. I don't really know anything about Goldman Sachs except they're a really big bank
3. I have little interest in traveling to Guatemala
4. I have even less interest in traveling to the Central African Republic
5. I may not be taking Thursday and Friday off after all. Grrrr

1) Slept wrong/funny and have a crick in my neck.

2) No plans today, but have something on each remaining day of the week.

3) What's for lunch? No clue.

4) I don't know if it'll be chicken or beef for dinner tonight.

5) Anyone else watch Is It Cake?

1 - I regularly fall asleep when we're watching British Bake Off - I finally finished episode 2 after 3 tries
2 - went to a fundraiser for the local pet food bank & didn't win any of the 3 items I bid on during the silent auction
3 - there are no countries in Africa on my travel bucket list
4 - there were a couple mini highland cows that got loose from the petting zoo during the Oktoberfest fun over the weekend
5 - our small conference area is covered in bags & bags of candy for Spooktacular...but damn it's tempting.

1. Went to a very upscale fundraising soiree Friday. Two different people bid 50K to sponsor a certain program for a year. :astonished: :money::takemymomey::moneywithwings:
2. We need to get rid of a high level employee. It needs to happen.
3. Just amazed how so many people are unable of acting like adults.
4. Construction prices are just ridiculous. I know stuff has gone up but you can't tell me there isn't some gouging going on.
5. Headed to Tampa for ICMA this weekend. Looking forward to visiting Ybor City again. Love me some Cuban food.

I started to a week or so ago, but Mrs. Maister wanted to watch Great British Baking instead so I changed the channel. Is it better than GBBO?

It's more about making your cake look like something that's not cake. It's fun, and the Halloween edition only had 4-5 episodes, so you can binge it in a day.

There's a Holiday version coming up - I'll watch it simply because the Halloween version was fun.

1) Data is important, but is only helpful if it is correct. Accuracy matters!

2) I am impressed with people who go all out to decorate for holidays. Sure a lot of people might decorate for Christmas, but a friend of my wife's has gone all out for Halloween. They ran out of space in their front yard, so they got permission from two other people on their cul-de-sac to decorate. I would love to decorate my house for holidays, but the weekends are either full of other stuff or we need them to recover from the chaos of the week.

3) It is sad the number of people who don't read books anymore. It is not that they can't read, it is they choose not to read.

4) Hold up... how the heck can someone steal anything from the Louvre Museum? I read the report and my first thought is "Wait, I think I've seen this movie before."

5) The first time the public heard the song "White Christmas" wasn't in the movie White Christmas, but in the movie Holliday Inn in 1942. Moreso, only part of it was performed. There is a missing verse that people rarely know about. Ironically, it was this movie that spurred the name of the famous hotel chain that was started in Memphis TN.

1 - now is the time of season to get your winter coats cleaned
2 - fell asleep watching the WS game last night & Mrs. P says I'm an expert at recliner sleeping
3 - did not mow the grass last weekend and now it's raining, so I got that going for me
4 - did carve jack-o-lanterns this weekend as our tradition continues (absent The Girl)
5 - one week to go before the local election.

1 - I don't listen to music very often these days. Not since I got hearing aids and the CD player went on the fritz.
2 - I'm currently sucking on a Dum-Dums 'mystery pop' flavored sucker. It tastes kinda like grapefruit but sweeter. Mystery solved to my satisfaction
3 - I wish it was 5:30
4 - I wish I had a double decker BLT (minus the T)
5 - We drove around looking at Halloween decorations last weekend

Get a Cassette Walkman!

1. Casettes are cool
2. I want more cassettes
3. I wish I didnt sell all my good cassettes
4. I am slowly but surely rebuilding my collections of LPs and Cassettes
5. Using a front loaded tape player makes for less eaten cassettes, car tape decks are the worst for eating tapes.

I kept all my cassettes. When did they stop putting tape decks in cars exactly?

1) A member of one of our appointed boards is going through some stuff. He has had health problems recently and is currently battling cancer. He is much older and his doctors are now talking chemo or radiation, but he thinks he isn't going to go that route and mentioned to me quality vs quantity. Having had the same conversation with my mom 15 years ago when she had cancer, I get it. First round of chemo and radiation was horrible. For round two she decided to just focus on quality knowing her time was running out. I think our appointed board members is in the same boat right now.

2) My oldest has a fidget thing that he keeps with him all the time. He freaked out last week when he could not find it and he had a test. Fortunately, he was able to track it down before he left the house.

3) We are getting some much needed rain the past few days. Best part is the rain has been kind of a slow soaker.

4) The walls in our house are painted wallpaper. We bought a scoring tool and spayed warm water/white vinegar mixture and it was a mess. The wall paper did not come off very well and in many cases damaged the paper layer of drywall. So I am going to do a skim-coat in bad areas where you can see the seams and we will repaint.

5) Few weeks ago my youngest had a birthday. My Mother-In-Law sent a card. No gift, no money, no phone call, just a card. We chalked it up as just how she is and thought ok, maybe they are tight on money. My wife's birthday was this weekend, and they sent her a check for $40.00. My youngest saw her open the card and asked why Grandma sent her money but didn't send anything to him. Wife lied and said that it is actually for him and that grandma just forgot to put it in his card. Once again... this is just how my MIL is. My wife has told them repeatedly not to worry about her or I and just focus on the grandkids, but it is almost as if she does crap like this just to cause issues. Next time we get a card from her, we will just open it when the kids are not around.

1 - today is the day we'll find out what's going on here next (well tonight really)
2 - kept the skeleton on the front porch through today for the election
3 - The Girl presented at the state water conference yesterday & it was (evidently) very well received
4 - i have a habit of putting loose change into the cup holder in my car & once it gets full, trade in for paper money - last week's haul was $57.23
5 - I still have a bunch of cassettes, both purchased and mix-tapes.

1. There's leftover Halloween candy galore at home
2. I probably won't be eating any of it
3. Junior moved back home after losing his job
4. Part of me wants to say it's nice having him back in principle, but in actual practice......:doubtful:
5. I'm living life on the edge once again and taking big gambles...now I'm eating a mystery pop flavor Dum Dum.

1. Just realized we can change the color of Cyburbia - low left corner of screen - rocking old Cyburbia blue.
2. Cyburbia '76 is an option but title bar is Cyburbia '74?
3. Middle son expressed wanting to see TSO in a few weeks - concerts/music is our common bond.
4. Christmas tree is up.
5. Marked safe from hunting with Dick Cheney.

1) I am ramping up my woodworking again and planning my shop layout. I have some cabinets, but they suck, so I am going to rebuild them.
2) Only two night meetings this week!
3) I need to clean my office. By more standards, it is really clean, but not quite enough for me.
4) I am thinking about making several Christmas decorations this year. I also learned that hot glue works great to hold stuff to brick.
5) The bible study that I am going through is... interesting. I personally do not agree with some of the interpretations and claims in our workbook. The good part about our group is we do not shy away from disagreements.

1) Attended P&Z last night - first time in this city. The Director introduced me and I ended up shaking the hands of all but 1 Commissioner (he left early).

2) Making checklists for some items. Actually tweaking existing checklists so they make more sense to me, and include some small items that tend to get overlooked/missed.

3) Took over an hour getting home last night. Nasty wreck in the construction zone, so there's no way to get off the highway.

4) Cold here! But warming up again.

5) I'm ready for some mulled wine or hot cider!

1. Korean food lunch date with hubby for Veterans Day.
2. Shopped at IKEA with all the other Americans since it is a US holiday.
3. Cereal for dinner.
4. We have plans every weekend until Christmas.
5. Plans are starting to come together for next summer's trip.

1. Glug
2. The Thanksgiving decorations went up yesterday
3. We started using the fall-themed flatwear yesterday too. Would have done so sooner but forgot we had them
4. I really like salted cocktail peanuts
5. Happy Veterans Day (although I liked it better when it was Armistice Day

1) I have a meeting with an unhappy developer. They don't want to go through another round of reviews.
2) Last Friday I went to a home show where everything was $1.6M or more (Which is a lot for this market). Much to my surprise, the livability, fit, and finish, of these homes were not much better, or any better in many case, than the home that I live in that is worth a fraction of the price.
3) I listened to a Planning related podcast that was really hard on a particular city where I know the director. However they bluntly came out and admitted that they never reached out to the city, development partners, chamber, DDA, or any other group actively doing good things.
4) The store brand flavored sparkling water is not nearly as good as the name brand stuff.
5) When my boss or someone I respect references a book that brought value to them, I order it right there and then to read. One of those books (13 Ways to Kill Your Community) will be arriving on my door step tomorrow.

1. I am ready to start writing a pitch for a TV show called Weak Sauce

2. It will star Steve Buscemi

3. Co-starring Pete Davidson

4. The protagonist will be played by someone with unconventional but loveable class and charisma à la George Clooney, Jeff Goldblum, or Nicolas Cage. Would also consider Kyle MacLachlan but his Showgirls and Sex and the City credits are net negatives that I'm not sure his Twin Peaks performance can overcome for a show like what Weak Sauce will set out to accomplish

5. The director would have to be Mike White from HBO's White Lotus
