Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Tuesday

1. Had to venture out in the heat and humidity to take photos for SHPO.
2. Discovered how deficient a project file really is, told my director and she is upset but I just said we'll work it out.
3. Love how developers cry about not getting a check on Friday but when you tell them at 9am this morning they are ready for pickup nobody is in a hurry.
4. I am tired.
5. I need to finish planting flowers in the planters tonight.
 
1. The zoning board learned how to say 'no' last night. Baby steps
2. I had a bacon, egg, cheese biscuit from McD's this a.m.
3. Junior has two more days of school
4. We're cutting back on grilling now. Too many carcinogens
5. Is today going to be a long day? Magic 8 Ball says "maybe". For the record, that response is less than helpful.
 
1. Night meeting #1 last night had 14 people attend. We'll see about tonight.
2. The College World Series field is set and the Gators are in it again (with a walk-off extra inning homer).
3. I've tried to get together with my brother for the last 3 weekends but all efforts have failed. It looks like this weekend will be more of the same.
4. The CM asked me directly if I was applying for a Director's job nearby. I told him no (& I'm not).
5. Biscuit Day is tomorrow! Y'all come.

2. Opened up the Spatz's bread this morning. Mmmm mmm!
3. I wonder when the term 'rookie' came into use?
4. I think dad enjoys hanging out at my brother's house much more than mine. I'm okay with that.
5. Ever since we cancelled our Y membership we keep finding reasons to regret it. Dammit, we're saving money, that's the important thing
 
1) I need to start booking hotels and stuff for our vacation next month.
2) I am looking forward to the 4th of July next week.
3) My to-do list for this week is a bit on the long side.
4) It has been a constant struggle to get solutions to filing issues in my office.
5) Last week I met with a developer who has a scale printed on the edge of his business card. I think this is brilliant given the number of times I am in a meeting and something needs to be scaled yet no one has a scale.
 
1. I like the idea of a scale on the business card, unfortunately we have a standard design
2. Finance is not playing nice (again/still)
3. Camping this weekend so I need to get our stuff together - hard to do with 3 night meetings
4. We've been getting a lot of recorded solicitation calls on our work phones, especially mobile phones
5. I'm afraid to put money in the market right now
 
1. Today is my Monday
2. greeted by a 2.5 hour department head meeting this morning
3. at least my snarky 2:00 appt cancelled
4. it only rained a couple hours while we were camping and no real damage
5. this week schedule is 2.5 days of work & 2.5 days of holiday/vacay
 
1. Today is my FRIDAY!
2. Forgot how awesome this place is/was. Somehow life got me too busy for a while there.
3. It's supposed to be 115 on Thursday & Friday here in Phoenix.
4. Luckily me and the fam will be in San Diego on the beach.
5. SUCKAZ!
 
1. Had an evening meeting last night that ran long.
2. Got home and had email from a new client. It's basically a referral. That's good news on several fronts.
3. I have just enough connection to the planning and community development stuff here that I can get interesting things emailed to me just because I asked. It's cool.
4. I'm mostly healthy and completely (prescription) drug free these days, but I still have days where breakfast stays down less than 30 minutes.
5. Yes, that's on my mind because today is one of those damn days.
 
1. Enjoyed a totally random dinner with a couple we had met a couple years ago, but don't see. We ran into each other and we were both headed to dinner, so we joined forces.
2. Weekend plans may be totally screwed by outside factors.
3. My short cut coming back to work after lunch was blocked by a re-paving project.
4. My dog does not go for walks...he goes for sniffings around the 'hood.
5. Council has an odd item on the agenda tonight & I heard it will get shot down in flames. No, it's not my item.
 
1. Everyone slept through their alarms this morning. That rarely happens.
2. There was very little traffic on the way to work so I made it on time despite leaving home 10 minutes late.
3. Already put out a fire.
4. The shitshow of yesterday's fire alarm is the talk of the building today. Although the alarm was triggered by a water leak on the 9th floor, the alarm failed to sound on several floors-mine included.
5. I have to attend sexual harassment training today from 1:30-3:30, because it's 2018 and people still have to be told not to harass others.

1. My proposal for a presentation at state conference was rejected. Oh well, no biggee.
2. This weekend we met a couple we are friends with but that we hadn't seen in 3 years. It was like we hadn't missed a beat.
3. The contractor we hired for our big project showed up with a brand new trackhoe. Nice & shiny with no paints chips on the shovel.
4. Why does my dog like to drink from rain puddles and not his clean fresh water bowl?
5. Spent 1.5 hours in a dilapidated industrial building this morning. I can still taste the mold & mildew.

2. Mrs. P was offered a new job and turned in her resignation yesterday. She is very happy.
3. Looks like the fall schedule is completely full with activities every day (besides school & work).
4. My dog has chronic ear infections and we see the specialist vet tomorrow for options. $$$
5. Last week before school starts here.
 
1. This summer has gone by quickly and I'm not ready for it to be over.
2. I love it when policy changes that I've been lobbying for internally were a substantial portion of a technical notice issued by HUD two weeks ago.
3. I wish my sister would grow up. She's 41, it's time.
4. My little one asked today who her 1st grade teacher is. Told her I didn't know other than she was assigned to Room 114.
5. Today would have been Bear Up North's 70th birthday :(
 
1. Day 2 of getting up for school was similar to day one. When I told her she was going to be late, she said 'I can't change time' - I responded 'No but you can get out of bed'
2. Contractor on big project is asking who was going to pay for the extra stone used to back fill. We said they were as per the contract. He was not amused.
3. Need to book an appointment for my dog's surgery. He'll feel better and my wallet will feel lighter.
4. No plans have been made for this holiday weekend.
5. I have 21 bobbleheads at work.
 
As you may know, I started my own firm. I am working at home in the dining room which is right next to and open to the livingroom where my MIL sits all day watching tv. Here are the tv shows that elderly people watch ad nauseum:

  1. Mysteries of the Museum (sometimes okay, but then I shouldn't be watching this, dammit)
  2. That tru crime show with the guy with massively thick grey hair and dooming voice
  3. Blue Bloods
  4. Hallmark Channel movies about finding your lost love from back home
  5. anything to do with WWII


I know I sound bitchy so I am sorry but it's one of those last straws kind of thing
 
1. A few days back, I was telling what I feel is a humorous story. Person I was talking to interprets it as me talking trash about individual in story. Ugh.
2. This is still bugging me because that absolutely wasn't my point at all.
3. I guess I need to work on something to avoid similar outcomes in the future. Not sure what though.
4. So, got that client work completed yesterday. Now I'm free to get back to those pro bono projects I wanted to do.
5. Will probably dick around on the internet and play SimCity until whenever we do lunch. I've got the rest of the week to knock out a few hours of pro bono work.
 
1. Went home to check on the doggie at lunch. He's doing fine.
2. Sometimes I feel like a real estate agent here with "Find me a 4000 sf building for this guy"
3. The Girl painted her bedroom this weekend. Not a bad job for a 15 yo.
4. The heat & humidity is very high. Start sweating just standing in the shade.
5. No grilling occurred this weekend for which I was sad.
 
1. Crazy crazy quantities of complications at work this week. Nothing proceeding as to plan
2. Neil Young does not make my top 10 artists of all time list.
3. Barbecued spareribs diminish as a leftover. Best eaten fresh
4. We need to do another drinking glass purge. Too danged many plastic cups in the cabinet that Junior got from restaurants a decade ago.
5. I'm in a better place then I've been in a while
 
1. Mini WYP sent me a letter.
2. Absolutely made my day.
3. Hope DVD does well at the new job

1. Stupid flu shot made me sick, but it's not the flu
2. Hoping this house will sell.
3. The waiting is the hardest part.
4. Looked at multi million $ houses on zillow. Some of them are interesting.

1) Seeing the sun this morning as I was reading outside this morning was a wonderful thing.
2) My smart/health watch app updated, which is good, but the new update says my sleep quality sucks.
3) I am exploring options and I think that the transition towards what I want to do might end up being more of a second (retirement) carere.
4) I sketched up a couple of woodworking projects that if I can pull these off with quality, I might be able to pick up some side jobs building stuff.
5) Frustration is the word of the morning being that there are tasks that are being requested of me that are (and should be) way outside of my wheelhouse.
 
1. For the Nth time, I fell asleep around 9pm and got woken up around 1am by my sons to do snacks and drinks.
2. No, I never can seem to go back to sleep after that, which means I've been up since about 1am and I'm short of sleep and cranky.

1. Junior's middle school is having their open house tonight. We've been to every other open house so I suppose we'll go to this one too

3. An angry home owner just got a ticket for junk and debris. Called me up to tell me "you don't understand. I OWN the property and can do what I like and I promise that's just what I'm telling the judge." I pray he delivers on his promise.
4. Cars are a necessary evil in my view. I'm not a car guy
5. I love board games. I'm a game guy.

3. I brought a case of beer to work for employee appreciation day

4. I left a meeting a few minutes ago, leaving two hangers-on with the boss.

1. Had to bust a resident for allowing homeless people to stay at her house...neighbors complained the individuals don't meet the zoning code definition of 'family'

5. Humans in general take things for granted when they don't bear any burden for it. 'Burden,' however, may take many different forms.
 
1) I still don't have tickets for any hockey game
2) I made the decision to start woodworking and custom carpentry as a side gig. I am much better at building a table than I am at building a website.
3) Miniskis has really gotten into baseball and leads the team in stolen bases... to the point here he has 50% of all them for his team.
4) I need to clean my office.
5) This is the second week in a row that I have something going on every night of the week.
 
1. My dog does not like it when the mobile phone or tablet "dings" - I changed tones a couple times & it makes no difference
2. Our city atty still uses WordPerfect which make it difficult to transfer documents
3. I despise the new gmail update & need to return it to (my) normal
4. Everything was nice and quiet until 1:45 when 5 things were happening at one time - one being a meeting I was 25 mins late
5. The Girl's schedule includes something every night of the week - soccer, band, dance, soccer, band at football game - next semester she drives!
 
1. The Apple Map Car drove past me yesterday and took my picture. I'll have to look for it in the near future.

1. I saw a film crew out in the country today and yesterday. I don’t know what they’re filming, but I saw some prop highway signs with the silhouette of Mississippi on them.
2. High class dinner tonight - mini pizza rolls. I’m cleaning out the freezer after my son’s summer break.
3. I had some prints made, and they have a drop off box for film. I’ll have to scare up one of my 35mm cameras.

4. The first bag of candy corn this year entered the house yesterday & it wasn't emptied immediately

5. We were planning a garage sale in a couple weeks. Plans have been changed and now it's indefinitely postponed.
 
1. Mid-40s here in the north central ATL burbs the past couple of mornings.
2. Apparently we're going to struggle to make it to a high around 50 on Friday - our normal two weeks of autumn seem to have been compressed to just a couple of days this year.
3. Grabbed dinner out last night with our fabulous next door neighbors; added bonus is that I think we've found a new go-to Italian restaurant in our 'hood.
4. Speaking of our fabulous next door neighbors, the boys are getting married next February...with an outdoor ceremony.

5. Obviously you aren't residing in Georgia - the D candidate for governor here has gone full retard with the negative ads.

1. The schools in our district are out tomorrow for a Teacher Work Day/End of Grading Period. Weird that its on a Wednesday.
2. Contractor on downtown project hit a waterline today. Thank goodness it was just a service line and not the new water main they just installed.
3. Activities - marching band & travel soccer - are coming to an end in the next couple weeks. Swim starts immediately afterwards, but evenings & weekends will be free again.
4. AT&T is a pain in the arse.
5. The Girl bought a bag of white skittles, but they are all the different flavors. I told her that was like Skittles Roulette.
 
1. I driven the departmental car for over 3 years now and just found the switch for the auxiliary warning strobes.
2. Why is it that when you're in a hurry, you get stuck behind a car that wants to go 10 mph slower than the posted speed limit?
3. There's a local car lot that has a car Mrs. P is interested in, but its only open from 10 am until 5 pm, M-F, no way for her to get there during those hours.
4. Beer30 will come after tonight's Council meeting.
5. At some point in time, I need to get my $h!+ together on a grant reimbursement.
