Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Tuesday

1) Got up to take the kids to school so Mrs. G could sleep in.
2) Daughter and I giggled as Chester the Fat Cat sat and scooped food from his bowl so he could eat it off the floor.
3) Had a Sunday-like morning with the newspaper, but there's so little of it now that I'd read pretty much everything in under an hour.
4) Started The Greater Journey by David McCullough after the paper. Fantastic so far.
5) I hear David McCullough's voice and his cadence when I read his writing. It's a little creepy in a really cool way.

Bonus:
6) We're going to vote shortly then off to lunch at a restaurant with the best selection of beers anywhere in s. Indiana. Plus excellent pizza/calzones, etc.:)
 
1. Had an impromptu lunch date with Hubby.
2. We went for all-you-can-eat sushi.
3. I got some bad sushi. Not bad as in turned but bad as in not good. :(
4. Tonight I will go for an x-ray of the metallic artifacts in my knee.
5. This time next week I'll be in Pittsburgh.
 
1. I get melancholy every now and then. lt's a disease common to mountain men.

2. Now is one of those times.

3. Sometimes while waiting for the other shoe to drop, I wonder from far up will it hit me.

4. Snow is pretty awesome for the first three days, then it is a pain in the tush.

5. But children sledding does make me smile.

1. Thanksgiving meal planning has begun.
2. After a very mild winter last year, I'm hoping for a brutally cold winter with lots of snow.
3. I normally would never say that, but for work and school we have virtually no commute of any great length now.
4. Plus the Great Lakes really need the water.
5. As do our winter tourism businesses.
 
1. I too wouldn't object to a nasty winter this year. I'm talking about the type of snowstorms where they close City Hall.
2. Remember all that weight I lost a few weeks back? I managed to find it once again!
3. I've never done the Secret Santa thing for the 8.5 years I've been on Cyburbia, I wonder if I should this year
4. I am nearly out of the cases of Aecht Schlenkerla and Old Rasputin I picked up in Frankenmuth a couple months ago. Time for another run?
5. Remember all those cool economic geography maps that showed what's produced where? Seems like you never see 'em anymore.

1. used Recuva to retrieve deleted scanned pictures - gone.
2. little difference between scanning negs vs print pictures - all depends on settings & photo corrections.
3. this afternoon I will volunteer at a inner city church helping prepare thier Tday dinner outreach/service.

I recognize the first three languages: spanish, german, and french, but that fourth one is simply greek to me.

4. I went to see "Lincoln" the other night and during his big argument with Mary Todd I couldn't help but see my wife and I. I'm not comparing myself to Lincoln's greatness, just his demeanor while fighting with the most important person in his life. Love - Hate...it's all the same.

5. I made chocolate chip cookies last night at 1:45 a.m. I am the world's best husband today. :)
 
1. There is no toilet paper in the office. None.
2. There is also no letter size paper in the office.
3. I've been uber productive today. Two site visits, a Home Depot run, 5 requisitions processed and it's barely noon.
4. I have a lot to do between today and tomorrow 10am: bake pumpkin bread and a turtle cake, pack my clothes and the baby's stuff, oil change and car wash.
5. I need lunch.
 
1] Taking my daughter to the orthodontist this afternoon.
2] He's not happy with her brushing and is threatening to remove the braces if she doesn't do a better job.
3] She brushes twice a day, every day, but apparently not to his satisfaction.
4] Mrs G is really perturbed at the situation and it will be a very uncomfortable house tonight if the braces come off.
5] I know I'm dreading this trip more than my daughter.:not:

Captain has to have one of his canines extracted. He will NOT be a happy camper...neither will my wallet.

3. Back in the day there were actual cards that women carried and men put their name on it to reserve a dance. So all the popular girls had full cards and the not-so-popular girls has fewer.

1. I recently realized how much less I post here (even though I visit every day), compared to the heyday to the early 2000's (only 310 posts since I hit 7K in 2010).
2. Budget season sucks the life out of me, especially when I get undercut from above and have to lose a good person on staff because of it.
3. My wife is amazing...she's now a "sought after" speaker doing talks for families dealing with the initial "shock" of receiving an autism diagnosis for their children.
4. I'm not looking forward to tonight's Planning Board meeting, only because the CIP is on the agenda and I haven't been able to re-shape the process yet (trying to show patience and let our Master Plan get adopted first).
5. Elf on the shelf is good in theory, but when your 6 year old "doesn't follow the rules," it makes it difficult to get the intended results!

1. I pay scrupulous attention to businesses shown in street scenes in movies. Frequently I'll fact check to see if the actual location looks anything like the movie.
2. Ever notice how once in a while you'll see a chain that has say 20 stores clustered in the Great Lakes area but there'll be an inexplicable location someplace like Nevada or even out of the country?
3. I think black licorice is many folks' least favorite candy - it is mine
4. A different mood prevails when someone in the household is barfy-sick
5. Damn, I love maps
 
1. I'm really going to have to stay on top of things over the next few extremely busy months - no (or very little) slacking! ;)

3. I don't like the whole "public engagement" aspect of planning, it definitely wears me out and I don't know how some planners can remain so gung-ho about it.

1. I walked at lunchtime since I'm in the office for a change. I feel as though I rediscovered the neighborhood since I usually see it from the work truck.
2. I have one more item to buy for my Secret Santa gift.
3. I'm inside for a webinar; I'd rather be outside.
4. I love listening to my coworkers discuss news items they read on the interwebs, but the topic right now is kind of gross.
5. I'm impressed that my 17 year old son tunes into The Men Who Built America simply because he's interested in it.

5. I don't care what the "Founding Fathers" wrote over two hundred years ago. Conditions change and that's why they included a provision to amend the Constitution. We've done it 27 times (including the Bill of Rights)!!! There, I said it.
