Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Friday

1. I like caladiums a lot. Going to plant a bunch this year of different varieties. And the deer don't eat them!
2. Booked a trip to the Dominican Republic. Why does it bug me so much that I have to fly north to get the connecting flight?

1) Our budget is more or less prepared... now the Council gets to dig into it.
2) Took a day off from the gym. It was very needed. I still don't feel all that good.
3) I listened to a very interesting podcast by a professional nutritionist who posted things on social media about COVID back in December and was called out as 'misinformation'. 1. This is the first week for the new CM - so far so good
2. Our big spring festival is tomorrow after a 2-year hiatus - please let the rain hold off
3. The dog is still acting weird
4. If a department (not planning) hasn't used their vehicle in well over 4 months, do they really need a vehicle?
5. I don't like to see the message light on the phone lit up - I dread the thought of what I have to deal with although its usually nothing big.

1. Tomorrow is slated for major gardening activity
2. I intend to do better than usual at maintaining said garden this season

3) No big plans this weekend. Might get some new coffee to try.

4) Vacation planned for next month. I sure could use it now.

5) The library is holding some books for me. I may leave here early to pick them up, rather than waiting for the weekend.

Hey, at least the land mass is there.

1) New AV equipment going into council chambers today. It is sad that we are this excited about having a projector that would allow slides to be legible.
2) I need to water my office plants.
3) We are discussing an office painting party. The walls need it.
4) For dinner tonight, I am cooking a brisket (instapot) and will be roasting a combination of carrots, potatoes, brussels sprouts, and broccoli (light drizzle of olive oil with salt, pepper, and garlic)
5) Oldest has become really talented with his drawings.

1. No cooking at my house on Friday nights.

4. Drama in Finance with the director resigning and general apathy with the rest.
5. Maybe noottamevas will post again...

2.) Big night Monday as I pitch a regional trail connector for our town to the Great American Trail.
3.) I ordered a 3 in 1 cordless mower, trimmer and edger
4.) Some of the drama of our Chamber/Dev Corp merger has died down.
5.) 3 weeks until the 2.4 mile open water swim

1) Annual physical was today. The lab work should be back sometime next week. I anticipate it being a better than last year and a lot better than two years ago.
2) It is nice and warm outside. When I mean warm, I am talking about this:

3) I would love to find an old school mock orange shrub for my yard. The smell of the flowers in the spring is just unreal. I do worry though that we are on the high end of the USDA Zone for it though.
4) I am going to make grilled salmon for dinner tonight.
5) My dog and I did 3.5 miles this morning. Towards the end we came up upon a rouge sprinkler spray. It felt really good given it was already in the low 70's, was crazy humid, and we were on the tail end of a decent run.

3) Mexican for lunch, Ribeye's for dinner tonight.
4) Gym session was good this morning despite not getting a great night's sleep. My fitness tracker is already saying that I over did it.
5) Learning more about how the school was unlocked and how long the shooter was in the classroom is very concerning. He could have done the same horrific act with almost any weapon with that much time. It makes me thankful for the security protocols at my kids' schools.

1. First true beach day tomorrow. I like to get there by 9 and head home a little after 2.
2. Going to use my trombone and participate in Taps Across American on Monday at 3PM
3. Council wants to keep cutting the millage rate. Revenues are strong but we're growing with needs and not using funds to invest in needed projects and positions is not worth it in order to save the average homeowner less than $40 on their tax bill.
4. Vacation in just a few weeks. Long weekends and short trips are nice but nothing like being able to totally unplug for a week or more.
5. Also surprised about response in Texas. Former relative is a US Marshal and he said ever since Columbine the protocol is to move in immediately and not wait around outside.

5. I'm also sure that some sort of penance will follow on Monday. :grimace:

1) Found out one of the Uvalde victims is my MIL's cousin's daughter.

2) Uvalde is my MIL's hometown.

3) Plans for the weekend include one thing each day. One requires driving to the Big Town Next Door (Doohickie's neck of the woods).

4) My caladiums are showing off their colors. The all-green variety is called Frog in a Blender!

5) Dog has not been eating as much. I think she's getting finicky in her old age.

1. I stocked up on beer last night
2. I've got a few remaining gardening tasks to complete and the garden will be completely planted out by Monday

5. I know what it's like to be wrong. Not a good feeling.

1.) Today I am finishing my move. Just have the garage left to do, Moving is not a fun experience.
2.) I am all out of my workout routine. My workouts have been lifting and moving stuff.
3.) I have 2 weeks until the 2.4 mile open water swim
4.) We had like 4 inches of rain the last 2 days. We might finally be out of drought status.
5.) The council approved going forward with the trail connector which would be huge for our town. Now if I can just get the County on board. We can get it over half funded by the State and TAP funds.

1.) Today I am finishing my move. Just have the garage left to do, Moving is not a fun experience.
2.) I am all out of my workout routine. My workouts have been lifting and moving stuff.
I am mid-move and I'll tell you -- I'm about dead I'm so exhausted.
I believe that wrapping large artwork in plastic wrap constitutes a GREAT arm workout!
The small moving truck needs to be unpacked and put away before the large moving truck arrives.
But the large moving truck has all the furniture where all the small moving truck items will be stored.
Writing this out has doubled my exhaustion...

1. Short week with this week here, on top of that week before was vacation.
2. First real vacation in three years done - Vancouver and the Island were amazing.
3. Flew in a seaplane for the first time while away, and got to sit shotgun for the return leg. Flying into Vancouver Harbour is exciting!
4. Running my first formal in-person half marathon on Sunday. Training tailed off due to family/vacation issues this month but pretty sure I'll be okay...
5. Maybe I can convince my wife to order pizza tonight while we watch the new Obi Wan show - gotta carb load :halo:

1. It's 75 out today. That's maybe 2 degrees above perfect but I'll happily accept it.
2. had a leftover calzone for lunch
3. ordering the calzone last night I tried to place a pickup order on the phone and inadvertently called a restaurant with the same name located in a different state!
4. One effect of the profusion of cell phones is the loss of area code geographic significance.
5. We have more than a 100 strawberries forming in the berry patch now.

1. I can now afford to take on a toy car again. So Im looking at a Metallic Blue 1993 Volvo 245 Wagon tomorrow in Connecticut. It is a 5 speed and being offered at significantly lower than market value by an owner who has had it since 1997. Only has 178k on the clock and no mechanical issues, just some missing creature comforts I can live without (No AC, non functioning heated seats). But the catch is, its got rusty rockers, I'll see how bad it is in person and have to make a judgement call from there. If it's too rusty, I'll have to pass, because my budget is not vast.

2. If its a winner, I would keep the Volvo stored in The Bronx for weekend enjoyment and continue to daily drive my 5 Speed Canadian Camry. This means I would have two stick cars.

3. I had been saying to myself that now that I am old, should I become a multi-vehicle person again, I would compromise and let one of the vehicles be an Automatic. This was mostly because I was looking for 92-99 Buick Lesabre's as my next purchase, and those were never offered with sticks. Volvo takes priority over LeSabre, so I am fine staying in the 3 Pedal Mafia for the next few years. I dont have bad knees (yet) and the enjoyment I get out of having a clutch still outweighs that it can get slightly annoying in the heaviest of 5 Borough traffic.

4. If this '93 Wagon works out, that would be it for car purchases for the foreseeable future. As Volvo's are my favorite thing ever, I would put the LeSabre quest on hold.

5. UNLESS, the rare occasion should arise where I found a clean Lesabre that someone wanted to trade for a Canadian Camry.

1. The past 2 nights I have had dreams involving various Cyburbians.
2. I've had a piece of something stuck in my eye all day.
3. I am feeling a bit crazy and might stay up until 10:30 tonight.
4. The dog destroyed Mr. Pickles.
5. A friend from Oz called me today. I have been friends with him for 20 years and this is the first time I ever talked to him in person.
