Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Friday

1. I had TWO McD's bacon, egg, cheese biscuits this morning and they are still sitting there like lead in my stomach
2. No, I did not have anything to drink last night.
3. Junior is sleeping over at grandparents house tonight
4. No, he's not happy about it
5. Have a producer's (dinner) meeting tonight. I'd rather just go out for dinner and skip the dang meeting.

1) Did not sleep well last night, with the strong winds banging things around at the construction site 2 doors down.
2) Really dragging this morning, and had to look perky for a 9:00 meeting that was, to put it mildly, boring.
3) Have to run an errand at lunch, and I hope the rain has stopped by then. If not, I may end up spending the day in wet shoes :(
4) Work load is not going down, and I'm barely keeping afloat as is. Part of the reason is that I had two weekends in a row that I didn't come to the office, so that's two days of work that gets added to the list of things to do.
5) Tomorrow is clean-the-rental-house-one-last-time day, then we will be done with it and can focus 100% on our new house.

1. The owner of the place where we bought lunch made a big deal of convincing my coworker that the pink slab of meat on her sandwich was a different kind of turkey, and that it just looked like ham.
2. Three of us tasted it, and it was ham.
3. It was good, and lunch was kind of like a Seinfeld episode, so we're just going to track these things and see if he thinks we're all gullible.
4. Fridays are turning into late day inspections which end my day closer to home and farther from traffic.
5. Work is really, really busy, and I like it.

1) Slept through my one and only Friday class again, accidentally this time though. I really should've looked for a time slot other than 830.
2) Because I wasnt in a rush this morning I actually had quite a nice breakfast. Eggs, toast, and fruit.
3) Get to be the technology master later today, teaching Grandma how to print her boarding pass
4) So glad she moved to a location that much easier to bush too! Woot woot for leaving the suburbs for downtown
5) Recertification of First Aid and CPR this weekend. Consequently "Staying' Alive" is stuck in my head.

1. I got to redesign a parking lot this week and the CM wants it built this summer.
2. I really get frustrated when I'm trying to answer my 83 year-old mom's computer questions.
3. I think I actually saw The Girl's head spin around last evening. She was cranky to say the least.
4. I'm not happy there's no ICC match in Charlotte this year.
5. I got to see Tebow play for the Gators. Now I'll get him play minor league baseball (he comes to town opening night).

p.s. my mom is 83, not the computer...

1)

Sal, not to hijack this thread but you've gotta have a serious Come to Jesus meeting with whoever is in charge at your place. If you're offering up as a reason that you're so busy is that you didn't come in on two weekends in a row you've got a big problem and you're going to be fried soon.

Oh, the person in charge is "aware" of work load issues, but the way it's being addressed is by . . . tracking performance measures. Some contract planners are in the works, but that's a keep-the-planners-from-revolting step. We're also going through a re-org with no communication from the top on the finished product or goal, so overall not viewed as a positive thing by staff.

And it's too late - the planners are well past fried. What's one step up from charcoal?

1. Junior's spring break starts with a half day at school today
2. We have made no plans for any fun family activities next week (although I am taking Mon and Tues off)
3. My 'entertainment' budget for the next week is around $40
4. perhaps for fun the family might enjoy edging the driveway or maybe taking a carload of stuff to Goodwill?
5. The Great Courses Plus is awesome. This alone makes Roku worthwhile

You could go to Chuck E. Cheese. You know they serve beer there too.

1. Several soccer matches have been cancelled due to weather. rescheduling is getting even more complicated.
2. Probably half the people here in city hall are dressed in 'Carolina Blue" today. I'm not one of them.
3. This next week is one of the best in sports - Final Four; Masters week, Baseball opening day/week, college alumni soccer match, Merseyside Derby...
4. Thunderstorms kept the dog up last night & pacing around the house.
5. The HB2 repeal is all but a joke.

1) Got a good night's sleep two nights in a row! I feel pretty good today!
2) Sunshine and great temps today, but rainy all weekend. Good time to be indoors.
3) Doggy playdate scheduled for this weekend. Potential new furry family member coming over to check out our digs and see if she wants to live in our house with us.
4) Want to go shopping. Retail therapy is a tried-and-true method of relieving some stress, but I just bought a house and don't need much . . .
5) I think this weekend will be a good time to catch up on some of my shows and have some me time.

  • my oven door has come unhinged, surely it's fixable, i wanna cry
  • kitchen aid product over 15 years old!
  • I love this range, gas, with ceran glass and full width grates
  • but I've neglected it, its sooty inside
  • he wants to buy me a kenmoor, on sale, can I start anew, I think not.

1) My Friday ends with a brewery tour and short Happy Hour - so Yay Friday!
2) Doggy visit last weekend was short but went well, so she's coming over for an overnight visit this weekend.
3) Should be interesting to see where she wants to sleep - I'm hoping upstairs with us, Hubby thinks downstairs is better.
4) Last minute staff report to get out today - and then it's upload and wait.
5) Got a new book from one of my fave authors earlier in the week, but am having trouble getting into it. Given that it's book 8, and that book 3 wasn't so hot either, I'm guessing it's just isn't up to her usual level.

1) This week sucked. Decisions were made this that will have long term career implications for me, different than my intended direction.
2) Tomorrow morning I am going to the gym then I will come home and build something.
3) My calendar this month is too full.
4) I am not a fan of the new teacher at my kids daycare. However, we are happy that she only watches our kids for less than a 1/2 until their regular teacher shows up.
5) I really need a vacation.

1) Unexpectedly got an internship with the cool n hip city councillor for the summer!
2) Really excited to start doing some hands-on planning and policy work, not just sitting in class
3) Still have to study for exams though,:not: 2 more week
4) Also glad I have paid employment now, never worked at a golf course before
5) Did I mention I want exams over already

1. I remembered why I don't go to Sonic anymore. It was last night after we went to Sonic.
2. CM is mad because he didn't know about something. I went to tell him yesterday and he wasn't around.
3. The Girl went to an amusement park today for school - Band field trip.
4. Soccer practices and matches have been cancelled because of rain for 2 weeks now.
5. This week has been very busy or not - not much in-between.

1. Two inches of snow yesterday. Supposed to be 70 tomorrow.
2. I have no money until next Thursday.
3. There are only two cans of natty ice in the fridge. Guess it's time to hit the Nyquil
4. Maybe I'll get some gardening accomplished this weekend
5. Is it 5:00 yet?

1. For those who celebrate, have a blessed Good Friday.
2. I want to dork around today
3. However, I have too much work to do.
4. The national conference seems very disjointed this year
5. One of my favorite authors finally concluded a series I've been reading
6. He should have concluded it several books ago.:not::r:

1. It's a half day. I guess I'd consider that alone sufficient grounds for it being a 'good' Friday
2. Gotta get the spring vegetables sowed this weekend. Fortunately, I have this afternoon to get started
3. The time and energy demands of gardening are not so much related to sowing seeds as preparing the soil/beds
4. I guess I like birds. Always have
5. Grilling season has unofficially arrived (yeah, I've grilled several times this year already including twice in January if you can believe it).

1. I'm not very productive today.
2. I'm going to sew a dress. I'm not as talented or as skilled at Natski.
3. There was an explosion at a small factory in a nearby town last night. No one was hurt.
4. I wish that this house had more windows.
5. My son and I are smoking ribs and a pork butt for Easter.

1) Full day of work today, and I'm trying to update my list of things to do.

4) I'm ready for a nice all-you-can-drink type of a Friday night.
5) Weather's nice enough so I'm going for a walk at lunch.

1. No plans made for this weekend. It's supposed to be mostly sunny and in the 60's
2. I'm betting we spend a sizable chunk of this glorious weekend cleaning house.
3. Not that we want to just that we need to
4. We had pork stir-fry with egg rolls for the last two dinners, I'm ready for something else

4. I really scared Mrs. P last night and it was totally by accident - I swear
5. The weeds in the yard need mowing this weekend

1) When I go to a training event for planners, I am always fascinated at how different and how diverse the group is. There is one guy that I am shocked he can tie his own shoes, one girl looked like a supermodel, and another guy who was former military reminded me a bit of The Rock.
2) It is a hot one out there and I have an inspection that I was going to walk to... it is 90 and I am in jeans and a dress shirt... I am not walking anywhere but to the truck with AC.
3) I almost got engaged once many years ago... (as in when I first started working with Maister). Out of nowhere I got an e-mail from some birthday reminder site that I signed up for over a decade ago sending me a reminder that today is her Birthday. It was a little weird given that I have not had reminders from previous years.
4) I have not had a beer all week. Not because I gave up, but because I have been too freaking busy to actually go to the store.
5) My 20 year class reunion is this year summer and it happens to be a night that I might be in my hometown. However I am not sure if I really want to go relive that. I went to school with a bunch of pigeons... You know the type that strut around like they rule the world and then crap all over everything.

1. The plan was to make an inspection on the way home, avoid traffic and get home a little earlier. I made the inspection, but the traffic gods weren't with me.
2. The weather is supposed to drop into the 50's during the day tomorrow.
3. My tax return was in the mailbox today!
4. My savings account is going to have an good-sized increase.
5. Despite getting home late, I have time for a bike ride before dark.

5. I'm thinking chili might be nice some time this weekend.

1) Survived the week so far, but have 4 meetings today. One of them is about office furniture.
2) I plan on having homework this weekend. My area is expecting rain tomorrow, so I have some reading/projects to dive into.
3) I can get to work in less than 30 minutes if I take the tollway(s). It takes 45 minutes to get home on regular streets. I may split my travel so that I can sleep in an extra few minutes.
4) Met with a lady yesterday to help out with our new furry family member :w:. This way, on days I have night meetings, we can have someone come let her out, etc. and Hubby's not driving like a maniac to get home.
5) I still think I made the right decision to come here, but I'm feeling a little lost on a couple of things.

1. Everyone else is at an event today, and I'm the only one in the office.
2. My coworker works at Whole Foods cheese department, and she gives me some interesting and tasty cheese varieties.
3. Mimolette cheese looks like cantaloupe, tastes better and has a rind that's made by cheese mites. :-c
4. Cheese is the food I'd take to my deserted island.
5. Someone told me that she tasted greenbrier shoots. I'll stick with cheese.

1. Got the report back from the doc from the annual physical.
2. Largely pretty good
3. I've got one more test
4. I need to lose weight:r::'( and that's about it.
5. Where my day starts next Friday and where it ends could not be more different.

2. I guess as a genre tv westerns are okay
3. wishing I could get out of doing this radio nostalgia convention this weekend but that's not really an option

5. Strawberry pie is probably my 8th favorite kind of pie. (not a real big fruit pie fan here)

1) Two weeks in the bag. I haven't run screaming yet.
2) Big boss is at National. I'm in a bind on something and need to email her to discuss.

4) Busy day tomorrow. Sunday will be my slug day.
5) Plan to leave close to on time today. For the first day this week.

1. I've had Pachelbel's Canon playing in my head the last 4 days
2. There are worse ear worms one could get than Pachelbel

2. I survived the trip to Louisville.
3. My mom is dead set against staying at her sister's house, but that's where she's staying.
4. I've been dodging hotel inquiries all day.
5. This is already too much family time for me.

1) Hope everyone has a great weekend! I have a ton of errands tomorrow, then mom's day is just a phone call.
2) Had a conference call today about updating and integrating new code into existing code, and that talk included signs and fences. Long call.
3) Tired today, because we had an EXTREMELY long City Council meeting last night. But as a result, we have selected a developer to negotiate a new civic master-plan area in town.
4) Been creating notebooks for ongoing/long-term projects, and found some old materials that may just be useful.
5) Things not going well in my old city. Previous items came to a head, and a good person stuck in a very bad position is being forced out. Not good at all.

1. I STILL (after nearly two weeks) have Pachelbel's Canon running through my head, but am not quite sick of it.
2. We've been planning our weekly meal menu as part of an effort to save money and eat healthier. So far it's worked out pretty well and only went a bit 'off-script' one day.
3. The only computer game I play these days is Dragon City. It's something I can do with my son.
4. I recently purchased a Fitbit knockoff (Meijer on clearance for $21). No, it doesn't sync with your computer. The only trouble with the model so far is that I've managed to inadvertently reset it on two occasions and lost track of steps
5. Good chance of rain both days this weekend. Need to come up with some fun and productive weekend activities

1) New Office Chair!!
2) I have no idea what I'm cooking for dinner tonight. The new-to-us fish dumplings I cooked the other night were not so great, so tonight probably no fish.
3) Windy here. Hopefully that calms down a bit soon.
4) I'm ready for a chance to leave town for a couple of days. Memorial Day looks like a good time to drive off into the sunset.
5) Going to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2 this weekend!

1. Getting excited about upcoming vacation days, one is staying local but I have so much stuff I want to do around town.
2. Had to 'thanks but no thanks' a job and they asked to talk about it before I fully withdrew, after I withdrew. Made me laugh.
3. Next weekend is a three day weekend and I'm already excited about that.
4. I have so many errands to run for end of school year parties and a Pre-K graduation party - I'm going to rip my list in half and delegate to the mister.
5. Listening to all things Chris Cornell.

1. I'm running a camera again this weekend
2. It's another graduation
3. It's also another paying gig
4. It's been nearly 30 years since I graduated:-c8-!
5. !@#$ I feel old:not::r::yoda::wall:

1. The word 'punctual' is not in The Girl's vocabulary, 'procrastination' is however.
2. We have 4 friends with birthdays this weekend. (& yes dvd, I have at least 4 friends)
3. We have an impatient council. They are good and want positive things to happen, but they are impatient.
4. The month of May has flown by.
5. It's Friday, and for this we are grateful.

1) I don't care what some people say. Finding an old newspaper from Dallas from the day after President Kennedy was shot is a very cool find and should be preserved and if possible, but some place where it can be seen.
2) On Monday, I shift from working out to training.
3) The weather is perfect today.
4) There is beer and whiskey that will be consumed this weekend.

4. How can it possibly take HR over two weeks to schedule interviews for four candidates?
5. I'm convinced if kids had a few fistfights at a younger age they wouldn't be such mouthy adult a-holes later in life.

1. Speaking of old newspapers, this past weekend I found an unexpected trove of articles my grandmother saved from the Grand Rapids Press including things like: VJ Day, Kennedy's assassination, Nixon's resignation and Ford's appointment
2. I have a craving for Mexican. Fortunately chili was already planned for tonight's menu.
3. I need reading glasses now to see small print or in poor light. This amounts to maybe 15% of the time I'm reading.
