Daily things 5️⃣ Five Things Friday

1) Had a busy week, but today is nice and quiet.

2) Leaving the office after my 2:00 internal team call.

3) Parentals already have a nibble on their house, and they haven't even put it on the market yet. But another couple wants to move to the neighborhood and heard about it from the parental's neighbors.

4) I need to get over there and make sure I get what I want out of it before the others descend and clean it out of the good stuff.

5) Saw the Bond movie, and liked it a lot and have offered to take dad to see it. It will probably be his last one in the theater given his age and the time between films.
 
1. That Jersey giant sub I had for lunch is sitting like lead in my stomach
2. I really need a 'recovery' style weekend, as opposed to a working weekend
3. there's definitely more Halloween decorations out this year than usual
4. Maybe make a ham this weekend
5. fall has at long last begun
 
  1. I keep forgetting we have a Jersey sub place in my fair city
  2. I did a drive through and feel disgusting
  3. We are going to a Halloween themed wedding next weekend (I am Professor McGonagall and my husband is Dumbledore)
  4. I have a headache
  5. I have to work tomorrow after my haircut/color appointment ugh
 
1. Tonight is pumpkin carving, Chili & Birthday cake for Mrs. P
2. I did borrow an inflatable Grim Reaper for tonight but have to return it tomorrow for our friends Halloween decorations
3. The chili was made last night and hopefully tonight all the spices will have had time to blend and YUM
4. Big band competition tomorrow, but I don't have to volunteer for that anymore
5. Our new employee is learning the CM's tendencies now and is surprised by one or two
 
1) Made an offer to our intern to fill a position, and he accepted!

2) Lazy day overall - took the afternoon off.

3) Contractor came and went - most of his work was outside.

4) Nap? Laundry? Dishes? What to do next . . .

5) Need to update our department phone list - several people are gone, and we have a couple new people.

2. Did I mention court would take place over the phone? :)
3. I'd like to do some cooking this weekend. Not sure what yet
4. Dang, Thanksgiving is in less than a month!
5. There are some really cool people on this website/forum. I genuinely like quite a few here.

2. Weekend plans include a road trip to bubbaville
3. Might get to watch at least part of the Largest Cocktail Party on Saturday
4. Some developers don't take a hint, even massive hints
5. Had some thunder and a little lightening this morning, but all clear now
 
1) It was in the 50's this morning! :omg:

2) Had a very busy week, with the advantage of flex time I'm off early today.

3) It looks like we're losing another planner. She just had a baby and bought a house nearly 2 hours from the office. She doesn't want to commute.

4) Met someone yesterday that might be interested in applying for our about to be posted Planner position.

5) Weekend plans include getting my hair done and a massage.
 
1. I'm off today and wandering to places I like.
2. Lunch is at a little French cafe.
3. I'm beginning to think about buying Christmas gifts.
4. I'm going to a ghost story event tonight.
5. I love people watching.
 
1) I ran in the rain this morning and it wasn't nearly as bad as I anticipated.
2) We are eating chili for dinner tonight since it will only be in the mid 60's this afternoon.
3) I am on the fence in regards to what I want to eat for lunch.
4) I don't get the concept on trick or treating on days other than Halloween. Sure, it is sometimes on a week day, but if we want it to be a set day of the week, let's change the holiday.
5) A bunch of school bus drivers all walked of the job for a 'sick day' locally and it is causing an issue with the local public school system. They are upset about low pay and additional routes.

  • Going to do a stay in Halloween with the boys (they're effectively all teens at this point, so we'll just buy a bunch of our favorite candy and veg in our house watching Halloween tv/movies)
  • I shall eat out for lunch today
  • Work is quiet
  • I like my 2015 Honda Civic base model sedan
 
1. I didn't get much sleep last night. Ended up taking a melatonin tablet.
2. Melatonin actually sorta works. Not very quickly, but I did manage a few hours of sleep last night
3. I would like cinnamon sugar toast right now
4. German food is my favorite 'ethnic' food to prepare.
5. Wonder what it would take for a second Civil War to break out in this country?
 
  • Sunny morning here in the Central Time Zone
  • Mentally preparing the 8th grader for PSAT test tomorrow for HS entrance next year (fwiw: our public HS is in the top 20 statewide)
  • Said child was part of a congratulatory event this morning at MS
  • I came in an hour later, but no problem as I had about 5 hours of extra time this week already
  • Working on several detailed memo for next week's Electeds' packet creation
 
1. Really bad meeting last night that went late.
2. Went to bed and at 2:50 AM the smoke alarm battery decided to tell me it was dying.
3. Had to get a ladder and change it out after I figured out which alarm it was.
4. Beeping upset the dog so she slept in the laundry room.
5. Needless to say I'm grumpy this morning.
 
1. I have a positive covid test.
2. I have a negative covid test.
3. I have no symptoms.
4. This makes me miss my aunt's funeral and I'm very sad about that.
5. I haven't prepared much German food, but I enjoy eating German food.
 
1) I have a code enforcement case where they are threatening to call the media.
2) We have 5 businesses under substantial renovation in our downtown.
3) Some training programs are better than others. The one I was in was one of the better ones.
4) Do I want Asian, Sub-Sandwich, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, or something different for lunch?
5) We wear jeans on Fridays.... unless we forgot to put the jeans into the wash.

1. There is a group out there that’s wants a civil war
2. No Halloween candy left here
3. I want to know who invented the smoke detector beeper & why they programmed it to only go off in the middle of the night
4. Played golf yesterday morning for a work event, raced home & took a shower & made it to work about 30 minutes before a 3:00 meeting. They called 10 minutes before the meeting to cancel
5. We only get to wear jeans if we’re going to out in the field all day.
 
1. It's supposed to snow this weekend. First measurable snow of the season.
2. I'm not distressed by the prospect of snow. It is, after all, mid November and usually there's at least one snow event before Thanksgiving.
3. Leftover breaded pork cutlets for dinner tonight. Can't say I'm super enthusiastic about that
4. Gotta get the plexiglass windows up on the three season porch this evening before it snows.
5. Normally by this time of year I'm indifferent to the end of the gardening season but I find myself looking forward to next season more than usual
 
1) Had a rapid covid test this morning - negative! I get to go home this weekend!

2) Doing laundry tomorrow before heading home.

3) Organized my sister's pantry and entire storage unit during the week. She's all set to be on her own post-surgery.

4) May do one more grocery trip tomorrow. I did one today, but we ate all the popcorn while watching movies.

5) It's cold here. But the late fall leaves are pretty!
 
1. We got 2 inches of fluffy white stuff last evening.
2. It's not going to stick for more than a day or two
3. Looking forward to another nesting weekend
4. I do, however, have to program/set the new garage door opener
5. I really could use a whole day of me doing nothing but playing computer games. It's been a long time
 
1) Back in the office today.

2) Made several people's day - I handed out Swiss Chocolate bars and balls.

3) Cold here - upper 30's overnight and a high of 60 for the day. Sunny.

4) I'm already tired from dealing with parental issues the day after I got back.

5) No party tonight - I have to be at the parental house early tomorrow to restage and prep for viewings.
 
1. Probably the last weekend of the year where nothing is officially planned.
2. Already looking forward to the mini-laefest with Random Planner and Bubba. We may share a pic but only if it's sufficiently warm so we can be outside and rub it in everyone else's face. :rofl:
3. Not altogether upset I'm going to miss my fair city's tree lighting ceremony. It's very anti-climatic.
4. I have a feeling I'm going to be asleep by 9 tonight. It's been a looooong week.
5. I was so unmotivated about getting lunch ready today I'm just going to have pimento cheese spread on some crackers.
 
Had lots of catching up on RT, I'll just post here, much to the chagrin of hinky.

1. Mrs. P & The Girl love their space heaters. Mrs. P had hers confiscated a couple of jobs ago, but I bought her a new one when she left.
2. We're having a static parade in town again this year.
3. The Girl's former HS band is marching in the Sugar Bowl this year. She's a bit disappointed she is missing that.
4. I didn't wake up for the eclipse but did see the video on a morning show while getting dressed.
5. I've had pints with Random Planner & bubba separately and independent of each other, but in the same state. Good People!
 
1) I am losing patience with those who feel that intolerance only goes one direction and their side can't do wrong.
2) Everything Bagel Season is a great invention.
3) I am cheering for Michigan State this weekend because osu SUCKS
4) The weather is perfect for a long run... and I am stuck in the office today.
5) I am cooking salmon for dinner tonight.
 
1. Popped into the office for a few minutes. Not a normal occurrence on a holiday but I'm off next week and wanted to finalize a few things.
2. There's something very peaceful about being in the office when no one else is.
3. The Eagles are coming to Savannah at the brand new arena in February. I'm in.
4. I have to say my fried turkey and my stuffing were my best efforts in many years. Delicious!
5. I took off my "nice" shirt as we sat down to dinner yesterday to reveal this one:

1. The Girl got on the roof to blow leaves this morning.
2. As a Thank You I took her to get new running shoes. They didn’t have what she wanted.
3. Oldest nephew is coming to stay with us tonight. He’s on leave until March.
4. Mrs P is watching a British Bake Off binge.
5. Off to play a bit of soccer.
 
1) Got my booster this morning!

2) Had lunch with my hockey friend.

3) Read a book.

4) Took a nap.

5) Watching a movie. All in all a good day.
 
1. Junior declared he won't take his ADD meds this morning.
2. Christmas decorations go up this weekend
3. Mrs. Maister sprained her foot badly last weekend and still has to wear a surgical shoe. Puts more decorating responsibility on me
4. Ordering pizza sounds good for dinner but I'm guessing we'll make goulash instead
5. Junior hates most things we cook at home and much prefers fast food. :disappointed"
 
1. The city's "Light Up The Town" celebration is today.
2. Before that is the employee Christmas lunch, in to-go boxes
3. This weekend is house Christmas decorating time.
4. I have zero ideas for gifts this year for anyone in the family.
5. I need to go to the grocery store - we're out of ice cream!
 
1) Learned that I am taking two of my supplements wrong. Apparently they work better when taken together. One is water soluble and the other is fat soluble but they interact when together.
2) I have a couple of really good meetings scheduled for today.
3) Steaks for dinner tonight. I am trying to think of cool veggie filled sides that I can include. I am also going to try to make potato wedges as well.
4) I messed up my knuckle on my ring finger. I was able to get my ring off, but I don't think it is a good idea to put it back on until the swelling goes down.
5) I got the wife an Ansestry.com DNA kit for Christmas. She was really interested in my 23 and me ancestry results, so I think it will be something that she will like.

Thanks for your concern but I don't think so.

Hip pain is related to old soccer knee injury.
Back pain is related to hip and knee pain.
Jaw is related to stress and tension. 😬
Lymph nodes are related to Covid booster.

Basically I am just falling apart.
 
1) Have an important and stressful meeting coming up. However, possible very good outcome if all goes well.

2) My new phone is a bit larger than expected, but so far I'm loving it!

3) Dealing with mom this weekend. Hubby gets to go with me this time.

4) Next weekend is the in-law Christmas thing, which I will miss because I'll be judging an online speech tournament.

5) Need to get more wine.
 
1. I slept well, but am still fatigued due to sinus infection remnants, I am on cop 2 of coffee and already had an energy drink. Eek.

2. My sluggishness is improving, but still my energy levels arent what they were when I was thin.

3. I am contemplating KETO diet, but worried I will do it wrong and gain more weight.

5. I miss Montreal every day, but don't miss being unemployed, locked down and unemployable there in our field because of the cultural barrier.

4. It's funny when a micromanager tries to thwarts another's attempt at micromanaging
5. I guess in December we should not be doing the "5 Things" posts and put them in Random Thoughts instead

1) At the office today. So far looks like 2 of us made it in on a Friday.

2) Since we only have to be here 3 days a week, most people pick T-W-Th, but I pick based on Hubby's schedule.

3) I started Christmas decorating last night. :snowflake:

4) I'm about to pull my hair out over something that really isn't worth it. But it's been lingering and that's driving me crazy.

5) Parental moves are no fun. And I get to help with it twice this month.

Oh it will be sufficiently warm; I will not allow any other temperature!

Did I mention it's been snowing here all week and the DPW isn't doing well at the plowing this year? (Or could it be that I've lived in the south for so long that I don't remember exactly how to navigate?)
 
1. I came in at 7am this morning and you know what? It was a really calm drive in as the sun was coming up.
2. I may just do that again.
3. It's cold and I'm not loving that.
4. My new office furniture arrived this week.
5. I've already had B&G and IT rearrange it a couple times. They love me. :rofl:

2. I don't love stores closing crazy early. The Dollar Tree closes at 4. 4!!!
3. Going to a murder/mystery Christmas party tomorrow night: Ho Ho Homicide. Should be fun.

5. I was a little disappointed Jimmy Buffett didn't do Mele Kalikimaka last Saturday at the show.
