Please do a cover letter, even if it's not required, if you:

  • are a medical doctor applying for an economic development director job (what)
  • work as a medical assistant and want to work as a development assistant
  • are moving from out of state
  • entering the profession from another profession and applying skills
  • making a lateral move
  • making a step up
  • taking a step down
  • have a lot of one year jobs (maybe they were internships)
  • have a gap in your resume that's more than a year

omg people - explain yourself - I don't want to try to figure it out myself and decide if I want to interview you or not

Whether it's required or not, I try to write one and attach it to the application. My bigger rant is when job applications only want a resume. I really want tell more about my story and a resume isn't enough!

Certainly you want to hear more about applying micromobility strategies on my mission trip to Yakestonia.
