A couple of weeks ago, I was gifted with an Australian passport, first class round trip airline tickets to Pyongyang, and an invitation to the First Annual People's Biennial of the Pyongyang Museum of Contemporary Art. I don't know who gave me this, or why; they must have thought I needed to get out of the Northtowns for a few days.

Anyhow, here's some highlights of my three days in Pyongyang.

Pyongyang has a very impressive skyline.. The tour guide claimed the statue is made out of "99.9% pure North Korean gold", whatever that is.

The Iron Fist of Communism dominates the landscape of south Pyongyang's Jageuneumgyeong neighborhood.

I got to see a parade honoring The Glorious Day of Eternal Blossoming Triumph When the Ever-Victorious Marshal Illuminated the Future of the Motherland With His Unmatched Wisdom and the Invincible Army Demonstrated the Boundless Might of Juche Socialism.

The tour guide also took us to The Supreme People’s Conservatory for the Revolutionary Harmonies of Eternal Juche Melodies as Revealed by the Ever-Victorious Leadership of the Great Marshal in Pyongyang, where I got to see a two-year old boy perform a flawless rendition of Bartok Concerto No.1.

There was a well-stocked convenience store in my hotel.

The hotel claimed to have a doggie day care center, although I don't think it's the same kind of "care" that we have in North America.

I got a tour of the countryside, and saw quite a few interesting sights.

Rush hour traffic in downtown Pyongyang.

On the second day, I finally got to see the Annual Biennial.

All the ladies love The Kim.

I had those trees near the front door of my old house in Ithaca.

Uhhhhh ... is that Los Angeles?

north korea 11.jpg

OMG! KITTENS!

Eternal president.

I think that's a Harley. Why is Kim Jong Un riding an American motorcycle?

All the ladies love a healthy volley of gunfire.

God.

I was glad to get back home to the The Rotten, Decadent, and Morally Bankrupt Empire of American Aggression and Cowardly Imperialist Warmongers That Trembles Before the Invincible Will of the Revolutionary People.

I worked very hard to pull strings and arrange that trip for you, Dan! And you are sitting here making a mockery of the Juche Ideal and Workers Paradise of glorious DPRK?!

FYI that Australian Passport is temporary, my friend Mr. Dundee at Foreign Affairs in Canberra expects you to mail it back to them!
