Daily things 5️⃣ Three Things Thursday

1. Id rather be a wild pantenal Jaguar than a human who has to work.

2. Ive always wanted to be proficient in Judo and submision grappling but started training later in life and haven't stepped back on a mat since covid. Jaguars however, know Jag-Jitsu instinctually from birth and their natural hunting habits are a more effective proving ground than any human created ring or octogon. Jaguars bite force is about 1500 PSI and they can spar with caimans and anacondas.

3. "Love" is an alien concept to Jaguars, especially the Males. Jaguars dont cop feelings, they mate on instinct and move on. No drama, no breakups, no tinder, no heartbreak, just biology.

I had to edit it, but I knew it was there. You inadvertently, subconsciously, described every college campus in the United States of America in 1975.

You truly are an old - and really radical - soul. :)

Yes I am meow.

Three more things

1. Don't underestimate female Jaguars. Some of the most savage Jaguar attacks recorded on humans (although exceedingly rare) have been Mommy Jags defending perceived threats to their cubs.

2. To a Wild Jaguar, living deep in the south American wetlands with abundant prey, is as satisfying as living in Brooklyn is to a zoomlennial post-hipster human who likes house music, art & jazz.

3. Jaguars are usually born in pairs, but sometimes Mommy Jags can give birth to up to 4 cubs.

1) Had a virtual video interview yesterday. Strange, but it was a lot shorter than driving somewhere for the same basic 1st round questions.

2) Back in the spring, I put my name forward as being interested in a TX APA chapter officer position. Found out yesterday I'm the only candidate on the ballot. :astonished:

3) Why is the temperature so high when I have the time to go outside and see new places?
#2. Congratulations on your win!

Have you done a video interview that is only recorded, with no human feedback? Now that's weird. You are able to go back and re-record your answers to written questions, but still...

1. I had an interview with the State of Nevada today, but it got cancelled due to ongoing network issues. Oddly enough, yesterday's interview went on as scheduled, because it was with the Division of ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, which does everything ON PAPER. So they had access to my profile, while they had printed out. The Division of ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION uses PAPER for everything. (I'll leave it at that.) However, they can't do anything more than interview, since HR systems are down. That's why I haven't heard back from last week's Big Interview(TM) in planning with the state, but my prospective future manager reached out yesterday and said that she is waiting for an update from HR.

2. With that said, I have my onboarding at a local medical chain this afternoon, to start on September 15. I'll be doing Medicaid authorizations for patients within the chain, as well as handling walk-in traffic at an urgent care clinic. I have customer service and health care experience, so, while it's not planning, it's something to hold me over.

3. There was exactly one applicant for the Planning Technician position that opened up in a city 30 miles away (for one day). My understanding is they need to re-open the application period until they get at least three more. I wonder what would happen if I made up three random, nonexistent people, making Google Voice numbers and new e-mail addresses and LinkedIn profiles for all, and submit applications? (I won't. Just a fun thought.) Robin Williams did something similar in the wonderful "Mrs. Doubtfire" decades ago.

BONUS: An engineering firm I had applied to weeks ago for a Transportation Planner role summarily rejected me, almost instantly. OK, fine: I don't take that personally. But I noticed that several members of their management team looked at my LinkedIn profile yesterday afternoon. Weird.

1) Getting lots of AICP credit classes/courses done while laid off. Will have several hours to carry over!

2) Less than 2 weeks til I run away to visit my sister!

3) Ugg, I need to dust.

1. Did that one year to catch up.
2. Brother and I headed to parents in two weeks.
3. Canyon winds overnight from 9PM-10AM 6 of 7 days makes out house very dusty.

1. I am probably fostering a beautiful older senior female Tabby for a little bit. Code enforcement found the little girl in a condemned building and brought the cat to City Hall, where me and the fellow cat lovers quickly devised a care plan for the Kitty. We have tentatively named her "Cloudy" for "Mini Clouded Leopard".

2. My one coworker who is a former vet tech and works p/t, took the cat home to give bath/flea treatment and a look over for any symptoms of worms, FIV or any other health issues. If Kitty has no urgent issues, I will bring her home tonight after work to live with me until our local cat lady finishes some home improvement work on her second home, where the cat will be looked after by her son who is also a cat person :)

3. My former coworker (who still works in the area and remained in touch) is part of a local rescue org, who will be bringing the little gal for a Vet appointment later in the month.

MEOW!

1) Change is slow to happen, and even slower when there is bureaucracy involved. Getting movement on something that has been in the works has been mind-boggling. Just had a great conversation with another director who asked me about delaying something and was a bit surprised when I said no. They agreed to keep the the current course once I provided history, original and modified timeline, and multiple issues and hiccups.

2) It was really good to catch up and have coffee @Suburb Repairman yesterday.

3) I have been thinking a lot of the role of AI and advancements in our industry recently. A very common one is for note and minute taking. I am wondering if there is a way to leverage this for my middle son who has a lot of difficulty with note taking because of where he is at on the Autism Spectrum. I am going to contact the school to see if we can have it uploaded to his school iPad as a way to supplement to his notes. Still have him take notes, but this way it can cross check to make sure his notes are correct, and so we don't need to spend hours working with him every night just to convert his notes into something he can comprehend.
