I'm surprised this thread wasn't started earlier. Sheesh.
What ya'll doing?

Me? My flight to California leaves at 6:00 am tomorrow. Holiday weekend in NOCAL with the family. My oldest brother won't be there and I never heard back from my youngest son. Returning on Sunday. Short, but better than not seeing them.

And your plans?

I hope ya'll have a wonderful weekend.

My mom, son and I are spending turkey day with my brother and his family about 30 min from here. Unfortunately, his inlaws will also be in attendance.... :-( They're a$$holes.

Hopefully we won't have to stay long, and I can come home and start prep for X-mas decorating!

Since we have the biggest house, we get to host. Just got the head count; 23. Piece of cake, our biggest was over 40.
(Edit: 24; g-ma's coming :))

T-Day at my sisters in the burbs, then I'm in a bowling tournament that starts Friday morning.

I work until noon, then pick my daughter up from daycare and head north. I so need to get the hell out of town for a few days. I can't wait to see my family!

We are having our first in our new house. :) We are not going to do the turkey thing as we love ham, but I am going to have all of the other things! Unfortunately, we won't see any family. I will get to see PG over the weekend though. :)

Happy Thanksgiving

We are headed to MA to eat with the inlaws with 4 little ones in tow.....ahhhh!
I'm making pineapple stuffing and the big guy is making some kind of pecan maple bars to bring. Following up with a weekend of romance in the Beautiful White Mountains, too bad there won't be any snow for skiing, to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary (with NO little ones)!

Hope you all enjoy yourselves with a happy and safe holiday, and lots of tryptophan :)

First time that my wife and I will celebrate thankgiving alone without any of our respective families. We will probably have a fire and drink lots of red wine.

I am also going to try to brine and cook a turkey for the first time. Could be interesting. Then I will hit up the slopes the day after to work out all those calories :-D

Me? Likely the normal routine, some time at a local family member's house and then to a local sports bar for their turkey wing special and the late NFL game.

:r:

We were mean this year and told g-ma that we will NOT be driving the I95 hell on T-day to see her. Its just not gonna happen to spend 8+ hours in the car to visit for 1 hour. We will see her Friday so we will only spend 4-5 hours in the car and a much nicer visit.

T-night we go have dinner at his brother's wife's family, they are from the Philippines and well they serve stuff they eat and stuff for "the tall white people" :-|

Sat I hop the Acela up to Philly to see TN and do some shopping down on South Street for the day

Sunday SLEEP

Going up to my future in-law’s house tomorrow for dinner and to hang out. The fiancée has to work tomorrow night, so she is heading back to Grand Rapids, but we are taking separate cars so I don’t have to leave right away. (I get along great with her parents)

Bigger question, who’s going out to the bar tonight!!!! :b:

Bigger question, who’s going out to the bar tonight!!!! :b:

I will be at the airport bar tonight waiting for my flight. I am heading to Winston Salem, NC. I have not been there in 8 years and thought I would never go back. I guess it was wishful thinking on my part.

my parents and i are having dinner at a local inn. then we are driving to my sister's house to celebrate my nephew's 2nd birthday. :g: :g:

Heading to my X's house to hang with my kids. The X will pick up the kids and go to her parents. I'm going over to a bud's parents house since, "no one should be alone on Thanksgiving". My X gets married on Friday and I pick my kids and my brother's 3 up at 10:00 p.m. from the reception. Saturday morning, I'm cooking a big breakfast for all the kids (6 in all) and heading with my 3 home. Once home we will commence to break out the Christmas decorations. Sunday evening I'll be delivering them to their mother and newly crowned step-father.

I'm heading to my sister's tomorrow in the suburbs. She is due to give birth any day now, so there could be a little Thanksgiving drama. They still want everyone to come to their house though.

Going to my wife's cousin's house out in the suburbs. Should be a nice time.

Then on Friday I am planning to do Chicago Critical Mass. It will interesting to see the turnout.

Making the long trip from my bedroom to my kitchen. Invited the 'rents over and our siblings.

Should be fun.

Celebrating my oldest b-day for a few hours this evening, hitting the bars after that, coming home (at some point) and sticking the turkey in the oven for the family. Ma and pa and brother (in from Pheonix :-D ), aunts, uncle or two, and a few kids will all be at the house. House is cleaned, table is about set, turkey is thawing...I just knew PLANNING would come in handy...now all I have to do is wake up and stick the turkey in the oven and nurse my hangover on the couch with football and egg nog whiskey :a: :-D

We are having t-day in our 1/2 constructed new dining room...should be interesting.. as we only have windows and sheathing and it is going to be in the 40's!

Hosting Turkey day at our place. Dinking around the rest of the weekend - I plan to do as little as possible, although I suspect the missus has other designs on how she intends to allocate my time.:r:

I'm dropping the fiance off at Denver International Airport for her flight to Spokane and ultimate stay in Hayden Lake, Idaho. (Her grandfather is not doing well and she decided to go home).
Then after fighting the United Airlines lines and traffic at DIA, I'll be heading to Thanksgiving at my aunt and uncle's place in Downtown Denver. Lots of good food, beer and wine. (I'm bringing my own stash of Celebration Ale and Isolation Ale). :p
The dog will be at home, getting spoiled by our neighbor who is taking care of her. I think our neighbor is also using our oven for extra space too for their feast.
We're eating early so as not to disturb the Broncos game that night.

The local pub owner told me that the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is one of the biggest days of the year.

It is the biggest bar night of year, typically busier than New Years...I used to love working the night before thanksgiving...tons of $$$$, now I just spend tons of $$$$$ :p

Going to the in-laws for Thursday and the Aunt & Uncles place on Saturday

Tryptophan coma will be calling my name:)

Hey Brookton, the rain in WS is supposed to end this evening - at least teh weather will be good Thursday on.

Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone!

My entire extended family will bein town for Thanksgiving. The fun starts tonight, the extended family typically meets up at a bar tonight to get caught up. Tomorrow morning I will wake up at 6 to go hike up a mountain, come home and cook my portion of the dinner, head over to the in laws early afternoon, eat, throw the football around a little bit, then head to my family's dinner at my aunts, eat some more, drink some more.

I totally forgot that the night before Thanksgiving is the traditional time for pudding wrestling. I'm going to miss seeing it for the first time in four years. Oh well, at least I won't come home with a handful of mystery flavored pudding in my hair like last year. Pudding doesn't wash out of your hair as easily as you might think.

I'm actually doing the cooking tomorrow. It's going to be the first time I've taken on the task. I would joke about notifing the fire department but I'm an ok cook. I'm certainly not going to get my own show on the Food Network, but I do better than the hosts of Ctrl+Atl+Chicken. I was worried that the grocery story would be madness but it wasn't that bad... mostly students from Georgia Tech who aren't going home for the holidays picking up supplies.

Cooking a bird and trimmings for me, my daughter, and my best friend and his baby daughter which were unexpected company but it means the turkey will vanish faster.

As always.....tradition for about 33 years.....this Bear and wife (Katie) will be hosting the Thanksgiving gathering. I do all the cooking, including this early wakening to begin the slicing and dicing for the "world-famous" :p stuffing.

22-pound birdie, Honey Baked ham (a Toledo-suburb-based company), all the other trimmings. Last night before going to the local pub (Hub's) we made the ice box cake (real whipped cream between individual Nabisco dark chocolate wafers) :p .

My son and his family are coming over. I am sure that my oldest grand-daughter (Anjelica) will jump on the net, instantly. She is 14 years old and lives on the net. The younger grand-daughter (Luna Bellah) is 8 years old and will want to watch Christmas movies. My son and I will drink Rolling Rock and make bad puns. Katie's 19-year old son will venture from the dark caverns (basement bedroom) and join us for bad puns.

Sad.....my older brother (who lives in the town of our Supreme Leader Dan's employment) will be in attendance, with wife and grand-son. My bro used to be the ring-leader in the pad pun adventure. In the last two years his Alzheimer's has worsened. He will probably just sit on the couch and stare. Katie and I talked about how well we will handle this. So tough to see an incredibly intelligent 63-year old suffer through this.

Giving thanks.....thankful for the years of bad puns I did spend with my brother. Thankful for my family. Thankful for the technology that has kept me alive and kept Katie's MS at a low level. Thankful for the fun pets that are now and have been a part of my life. Thankful for my freedom.....even though it is eroded somewhat but "do-gooders" who want to put restrictions on any sin I may decide to have. Thankful for those that served in the military to help protect those freedoms. Thankful that Tax Day is still months away. Thankful that I have such a broad range of interests that retirement (eventually) will not bore me or kill me. Thankful to Mr. Rice (my Sociology teach in grade 11) who taught me to love cities, planning, the movement of human beings in a crowded environment, etc. Thankful for the once-in-a-while pleasures that my sports teams have given me. Thankful for Rolling Rock. :p

OK, Mr. Bear.....get back in that kitchen and rattle them pots and pans.

Have a nice holiday weekend, Cyburbiapals.

Bear Gibletski

Geez, Bear and some of you other Cyburbians, you're gonna have a busy day. All I have to do is drive 30 minutes with a bowl of (store-bought) spinach dip and a can of mixed nuts. Oh, and a bottle of wine, of course.

Be sure and tell your a$$hole sister in law that you want all your Christmas presents bought at Big Lots.

haha. You're funny. Go get busy. Why don't you blow Homer (up)? ;) :-D :-c

Stuffing is ready, sweet potatoes are roasted, potatoes are boiling away, fruit salad is chilling, bird is about to get stuffed and roasted.....c'mon 4pm! I wanna eat :-D

I am busy. We eat around 5:30 or 6. Just finished the breakfast dishes and started washing the good china. Taking a Cyburbia break before I tackle the stuffing.

My Homer Santa Clause goes up the second week in December. He's beautiful.

Well, it was the stinkin' Thanksgiving from hell again. I am sure my SIL told us to be there at 1; they called at 12:30, we were just leaving. Anyway, no time for the appetizers (crappy as they were) that I took, just sit down and eat. And no mashed potatoes, just that godawful green bean casserole. :victory: Then i got ragged on when the bottle of wine I took was polished off (split it with my brother, who has to sneak it when his wife isn't looking....). And my 13 y.o niece looked like a hooker! (Well, her sister looked the same way at 10....) So much makeup I almost didn't recognize her.

The only high point is that I was banished to the porch with my brother, my nephew, and my kid. So glad I didn't have to listen to my brother's inlaws.

Sounds like a lovely time...I boycotted my husband's family Thanksgiving last Sunday. I just did not want to deal with my in laws.

MZ, fresh out of the shower, having spent the day laying around in PJ's and put on new PJ's after showering. My sons made steak for lunch. Life is good.

Trust me, if my mom wasn't 90 and needing a ride, we'd have skipped it, hung out out home, watched X-mas videos, etc.

I am trying to start my X-mas decorating but I took my best X-mas music CD's to RJ's. My kid and his friend are getting sick of hearing "Snoopy and the Red Baron"...

Report from RJ: Had a good Thanksgiving at his sister's near San Francisco, was heading back from the hotel for home-made pumpkin pie.

My sister cooked a terrific bird (but stuffing was a bit bland). Wonder side dishes and a perfect pumpkin pie. And the wines she served: great compliments to the meal.
