Since Maister seems to be hitting a dry spell, I'll start a thread. What states have you visited the most i.e., day trips, vacations and the such.
My list:
1) Michigan-Over the years, I've been to every part except the very western side of the UP
2) Illinois-Chicago basically
3) Ohio-Cincy mostly, but also Dayton, Columbus and Cleveland
4) Louisiana-NOLA mostly

Depends how you define 'visited' but I'd have to say we've visited probably Illinois or Indiana the most. We usually go to Chicago at least once a year just to visit the museums. We go to Indiana several times a year. Usually head down to Amish country and stock up on the home-canned foods, cheese, or bacon, for our pantry. That or get furniture repaired (or buy new)

1. Florida - We've been going down at least once a year for seveal years.
2. Ohio - We probably visit the Toledo Zoo on average once a year.
3. Illinois - Chicago
4. Indiana - Fort Wayne Zoo and my wife's aunt lives here.
5. Georgia - We've recently started to spend more time in Atlanta.

Since I lived in Illinois for most of my life, I probably visited Indiana the most (to visit family, State Parks, Dunes, Indy, etc.), followed by Wisconsin (Lake Geneva, friend's lake house, Milwaukee Summerfest, Wisconsin Dells), Ohio/Michigan (about tied), Kentucky (family), and then Colorado (vacations).

I've lived in New York and now live in Illinois.

Wisconsin the most, already been there twice this year going again Saturday to go skiing. That's followed by Indiana and Michigan.

Ohio. Toledo is where the closest Dillard's is. I shop there as they have a great selection of pants that don't make me look like Jethro. While down there I may take in a few of the cultural attractions as well.

Secondary would be Illinois as my sister lived there for a long time. I am not counting Indiana as it is a drive through state, and not really my destination.

After that it would be Wisconsin, Indiana and New York as destination states.

The most frequented for me however would be Ontario, which is a province. It is just a few blocks and a river away from my current location. My visits have decreased sharply as the border has become a major hassle as we have slowly drifted into a more paranoid state since 9-11.

I most frequently visit the state of denial since it's conveniently near-by no matter where I am. In my younger days, I visited altered states fairly frequently. Of the United States, I've probably spent more time in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee outside Michigan and Texas where I've lived most of the time.

Been trying to knockout all, but a severe slowdown has occurred over the last 10 years.

I've been to: FL, GA, SC, NC, AL, MS, LA, TX, TN, VA, WV, MD, DC, PA, NY, MA, OH, MI, IL, IN, KS, MO, CO, ID, CA, OR, & WA (the bold ones are the ones we hit the most).

I used to cross the border into SC for cheap beer when i was in college 15 or so years ago. I could get a case of stroh's for 6 or so dollars. It lasted until I got visited by the ATF and NC ALE as they had concerns that my vehicle was used for interstate alcohol smuggling. Evidently, they had some surveillance photos that showed 10 cases being loading into my car. The car was registered in my name but at my parents address, according to the officers they contacted my dad first and he sent them my way with no warning what so ever. They were looking for bar/store owners that was buying the lower taxed SC beer for resale. Once they realized we were consuming it and not reselling it. I was sternly told that if was going to drink beer in NC that I need to buy and pay taxes in NC; and I was sent a invoice for the NC taxes. I was going to argue about having to pay NC and SC taxes; but I figured I was lucky that it didn't end up any worse. Interesting enough my dad never said anything about it till a year ago, when he asked me "How that event turned out?":-$

I'm only missing AK and ND. Probably visit CA (San Fran), NV (Vegas & Reno), and LA (NOLA) most often.

Washington, Texas and Arizona top my list for most frequented. Primarily for family and friends. Two of these states are next door neighbors, so that makes it easy as well and accounts for the frequency.

Forgot 5) Nevada-Las Vegas

I've been to every state east of the Mississippi numerous times except Alabama and Mississippi. And I've been to a few of the states on the west side of the river as well. But overall I've been to Florida the most of any. From the time I was in kindergarten until I was a freshman in college I would go at least twice a year for a few weeks each time and a couple of years ago, my wife and I started going annually as well.

When I lived in North Carolina I would visit friends in Virginia (either around Quantico, DC, or Norfolk) every few weeks but most of those trips were just for a couple of nights. We also would go down to Myrtle Beach, SC one weekend each month from the start of spring until the start of fall.

I used to date a girl that had a lot of family in New York on Long Island and also up in Portland, Maine and would spend a week in each of those places a couple times a year for the roughly 5 years we were together.

If I had to rank my most visited:

1. Florida
2. Virginia
3. New York
4. South Carolina
5. Maine

California, Michigan, Texas, and Virginia for me. Although I've not been to 3 of those states in probably a decade. I've been to numerous different states in the mean time though. I've done a lot of driving. Only have 6 states left to visit.

When I lived in Oregon, I visited Washington and California the most.

When I lived in South Carolina, I visited North Carolina and Florida the most.

Now that I live in New Jersey, I visit Pennsylvania, New York, and Massachusetts the most frequently.

Funny, I've never seen you in Pennsylvania. ;)

Most visited since we moved to OR is VA, then CO and WA.

Most visited when we lived in VA was DC, MD, and CA.

When I was a kid, we went often to Virginia and Pennsylvania, where we had family.

In my single-mom days, it was Georgia.

Now it's most often Georgia, California, Louisiana, and Alabama. Although I'm guessing we're going to start going to Oregon soon.

States I have slept in, W-E then S:
NV, AZ, CA, ID, MT, WY, ND, MN, WI, MI, IN, OH, NY, PA, NJ, DE, VA, WV, DC, MD, NC, KY, TN, FL

Provinces:
ON, QUE, BC, AB

I've visited most of the states, probably 35 if I sit and count. As far as the visited most it'd be: NJ, NY, PA, VA, NC, SC, GA, and TN

I'd say the states I end-up in the most are Ohio (wife's family), Louisiana and New Mexico. Living in Central Texas, it is a pretty long drive just to get out of the damn state.

For me the states with the highest frequency of visits would be Ohio and Massachusetts. Growing up we went to Cleveland each Thanksgiving to visit family and we went to Boston area each Easter to visit family. Massachusetts would probably rank the highest because in addition to visiting family we would also vacation there on occasion.

1st most visited: Illinois (have lived here all my life)
2nd most visited: Wisconsin
tied for 3rd most visited: Indiana, Iowa, Virginia, Washington DC, Colorado
4th most visited: Florida
