Admit it...we all played it at some point...and after a long hiatus, it's coming back. :)

Outstanding! This is the game I've been waiting for for a long time. I still play SimCity 4 quite a bit when the mood strikes. Too bad I have to wait until next year for the next iteration.

I hope that they will make an effort to get more realistic scenarios... I can imagine that this will be a huge multi-player game if done correctly.

Very excited.

Multiplayer is what I really want with this. The ability to link multiple cities (from different players) together could be pretty fun, especially if you have the ability to try and lure firms away from your neighbors by offering tax breaks. lol

I have a hard time seeing how they'll do this without fleshing out a political component. Like it doesn't seem realistic to me to build a city of science if your population is a bunch of rednecks. There's got to be some mechanism that encourages you to build a city your Sims want.

I have Sim City 4 still, and only play it occassionally. I don't know if I'll invest in Sim City 5 at this point, since I feel I haven't even reached the full capabilities of Sim City 4 yet. I probably will end up buying it at some point (maybe 2-3 years from now), but probably not at the moment.

I still play SC4 regularly and I really hope SC5 is focused on the physical city and not the social aspects like City Life or Sim City Societies. The best part about playing was building cities to see how they looked.

The behind-the-scenes stuff like taxes are important but the built environment is the fun thing to build.

I used to play Sim City all the time as a kid and loved that game!

I would probably invest in this version if Sim City tries taking a lot of the same steps as the Civilization series from the perspective of local government. The only real "competition" in Sim City is usually hitting some sort of benchmark, so adding a multiplayer component I think would really improve the game. The Sim City games already do a good job at challenging the player to balance growth with stability, so adding in other competitors to push your decisions one way or another would add a really interesting element. Plus, the game could include a lot more details as far as local geographic and social factors as well as changes in technology (the Sim City games always span a long period of time so the developers should have some fun and make some crazy future technology predictions.) Hover cars anyone?

I think Sim City Societies was a great concept, and failed miserably. My hope is that they integrate the concepts of social engineering with the city building components. 9 years... they better have something great.

I was a SimCity4 guru and modded the crap out of that game. At 34 and a family I could only wish for a few hours a couple nights a week to give this game the attention it would need. I also am pretty sure I don't have a computer in this house capable of supporting that type of graphics.

More about the GlassBox simulation engine behind the game.
