Does anyone have a local tv/radio news anchor or reporter with a funny name. Is it suggestive of certain things that take place in a private bedroom?;-) Is it just contextually funny (like wrong name for the look of the person or funny in terms of programming)? Or does it just sound silly?

I have one that can be construed as sexually suggestive:
For the NBC affliate here in Chi, the morning anchor's name is 'Dick Johnson'.

It's a little childish, but I think it's funny.

(Sorry, Richards)

I like local news anchor Mario Hilario, just because it sounds funny.

Mario's hobbies include dancing, mountain biking, skiing, rollerblading, eating good food and sailing.

Ah, memories of television blasting across the state border from El Paso into Las Cruces. Newscasters on El Paso televison stations were primarily Anglo, but many adopted Hispanic stage names, supposedly to better connect with their audience.

My favorite, from Buffalo ... Irv Weinstein. Sounds more like a carpet salesman than a television newscaster, but he was a symbol of Buffalo, expecially to the Canadians that watched Channel 7 news in droves.

The weather man at the Great Falls station has the last name of Heit. I think for professional purposes he should change his first name to Faron.

This isn't a local newscaster, but a national sportscaster, and that's kinda close, isn't it? Anyway, I still about choke everytime I hear the name "Dick Butkus". I know, I'm as mature as Beavis & Butthead.

Not real, from the Tom Wolfe book, "Hooking Up", Mary Kerry Brockenberry. The way he spelled every time she spoke cracked me up.

I watch NBC in the morning to in Chicago, but the best is when the traffic lady brought it back over to both Dick and Anita (since has moved somewhere else) and said...

"Back to you, Anita, Dick"

Speaking of NBC Chicago, I really hate that health lady.

One of my favorite news ladies is "Lydia Kulbida", which I really enjoy saying.

My favorite name ever was a girl I went to college with, "Mary Claire Divine". It always sounded so serene and celestial to me.

We have a reporter named Sarah Cumming.

If you don't know what that means, it's an australian term for having "fun" with your right hand.

There used to be a weather girl on Chicago's fox affiliate named Amy Freeze. Come on...that has to be a stage name!

And yes, even after all these years, I still snicker when I see Dick Johnson on NBC 5. :lmao:

We had a newscaster named Antoinette Antonio, though she apparently left to go to Boston. We also have Royale Da and Matt Grubs.

When our friends got a new Chihuahua mix and were searching for a name, my wife suggested naming him after a local investigative news reporter, Larry Barker. It stuck.

KARE 11 in the Twin Cities has the most Scandinavian name ever for one of their weathermen...Sven Sundgaard. Let's just say I don't see him changing markets ever.

An NBC affiliate in California has a sportscaster with the name of Matt Santamaria, I always wondered if that was his real name. The kicker is that the largest city in that market was Santa Maria. The station has had some fun with his name during promos.

We also have a Cumming, Iowa. I've seen items printed with I love Cumming. Iowa also has a chain of gas stations called the Kum and Go.
