New gig uses Energov, accessed through the city's intranet.

I've never used Energov before. We don't have cheat sheets, and I have to say it's not that intuitive to me. One coworker is a whiz, but she's not good at explaining/showing, and the other knowledgeable person is in a different division so isn't familiar with some of our sections - like plat info.

Anyone have some insight/cheat sheets/tips? Or even a Don't Do That piece of advice? I'm struggling to see how the Workflow actually flows.

Wow, this post just gave me a flashback. We used it at one city. City Clerk who did alcohol and tobacco permits hated it and constantly complained about it. Planning and Code Enforcement claimed they loved it but probably only claimed that to piss off the clerk. Vendor kept telling us that it would be fixed in the next update. I didn't have to use it so I cannot be of help.

Do you know how they had it built and configured?

We went live with Tyler's Energov/EP&L about a year and a half ago. Developing the program was a pain, though we did a ton of research to work through where the software would be problematic and designed it to help avoid its pitfalls. So far its been decent.

I used it with my last job for building permits. We tried to use it for code enforcement as well, but it felt buggy.

The biggest suggestion I have is work with them to format the reports that you want. We would run stats weekly being that we were growing at such a rate that it made sense. Every Monday morning I would run new apps, issued permits, and CO's to get an idea on where things were.

In regards to work flow, depending on the type of permit, it should already be set up if it is the existing program. Your dashboard can be custom configured to your needs. I don't remember how I did it.

I did find this on Youtube.

Structurally, it should be similar to what you have going on.
