If a new medicine were developed that would cure arthritis but cause a fatal reaction in 1 percent of those who took it, would you want it be released to the public?

A 1998 meta-analysis published in The Journal of the American Medical Association estimated that adverse drug reactions (ADRs) were the fourth-to-sixth leading cause of death in the U.S., with a 0.32% fatality rate among hospitalized patients experiencing a serious ADR.

If you look deep enough into medication, this is not an unusual occurrence. That is why there are so many warning notices at the end of drug adds.

While not fatal, this hit home for us just a few years ago. Wife was one of the first groups to get the COVID shot because of her work as a Nurse. It caused Bells Palsy and she lost all control for half of her face. She was out of work for nearly a month because of it and we have spent thousands in treatment. She almost never lets me take her picture and she won't smile with a full smile because one side still sags a bit.

Even with that, she was very persistent that I get my shot.

It all comes down to knowing the side effects and giving people an option to not take it if the risk is too high for that population.

Mos Def, if I'm in the 1%, I will haunt the pharma execs from the astral plane!

Im beginning to dev some mild arth in one finger at bottom of the joint, its slightly concerning for my prospects at being my own mechanic long term and Im getting X Rayd later in the month.

One percent seems like huge number to me, such that science would be able to determine from that number what would make a person likely to have that kind of adverse effect. So to be able to say - if you are allergic to this, that, or the other, DO NOT take this product. With that caveat, then, yes, I think the benefit of the product should see it make it to the market. Without knowing what could trigger a one percent fatality rate, nope. Not going on the market.
