The Belichick Affect has taken effect.
All tickets for UNC TarHeels football games are gone, sold out & now getting scalped. However that didn't help them in the preseason rankings (did not make top 25).

Preseason polls still don't make sense to me. At least hink will be happy to know the NCAA kept the tosu in their normal preseason spot.

Are you ready for some :football:!

Who has the toughest schedule in college football next year? tosu? PennSt? Alabama? Nope.
The Florida Gators have the toughest schedule of those teams ranked in the preseason top 25, according to this article.

UNC is not in the top 25 biggest college football stadiums in the country

Michigan is #1
tosu is # 3

The top 8 are city sized.
The Big House is the largest sports stadium in the Western Hemisphere and the third largest in the world.

Having said that, there is more to a stadium than just the capacity. I have had more fun in some much smaller venues, such as Carter Finley at NC State.

True, but it's pretty crappy. :D

I enjoyed my visit there though. Good fans and no real issues. Any away stadium always has a few drunk A-holes but you just expect that as the price of going on the road. With the exception of the new West Coast stadiums I've been to every BIG 10 stadium. There is a clear winner in my experience as to the most vile fanbase in the BIG 10 but I'll keep it to myself so we don't start any arguments. I will say it's not UM or OSU. Not even close.

Does it involve a lion? Because the hate towards me when I lived up that way when wearing a Michigan shirt was unreal.

Iowa is the best stadium experience I have had in the Big10, IMHO.

I like the Big House, the Shoe is awesome, and I have nothing bad to say about Camp Randall or Beaver, I just had a really fun experience at Kinnick.

Ok, that is not fair.

Ballerina's are highly trained athletes that dedicate their life to their craft. The skill and muscle tone that they need to develop to do what they due is amazing. They don't deserve to be compared to those Nuts.

As for the punishment handed down, I hear the NCAA committee included the following members:
  • Ryan Day
  • Urban Meyer
  • Jim Tressel

If you didn't know, Jim Tressel is the Lieutenant Governor of Ohio now... He doesn't have time to review what was clearly a "we have to cheat to win" culture created by Harbaugh. He is far too busy finding ways to not give cities money from the State... ;)

At least a couple of the TV numbers (on the shoulders) do not agree with the uniform numbers on the front of the jerseys.

You mean this Jim Tressel?

You mean this Jim Tressel?

Yep! He's the guy that got in trouble for having kids sell their jerseys and make money. Something that is VERY much supported in the NCAA now. That article doesn't hold up today at all, as any school would have been praised for having that happen this year. No one would blink an eye.

Maybe stealing signals will end up being legal and we will laugh in 14 years about the 3 year cheating culture that ended up winning a tainted national championship for Michigan. I mean the NCAA didn't take the championship away, or make them vacate wins, so there is something to be happy about... even if it validates everything everyone knew was happening and speaks volumes about Harbaugh (and why he ran off to the NFL).

With all that said, Michigan beat Ohio State last year without stealing signals (that we know of yet...;)). That sucks, and I am hopeful that doesn't happen this year.

I enjoy Michigan football but honestly, I never really care that much about college football beyond what Michigan is doing.

As we get near the start of the NCAA football season there are at least a few storylines I'm interested in seeing what happens with:
  • Is Arch Manning real?
  • What's going to happen at CU with Sanders now that he has none of his kids on the team and Travis Hunter is gone too? They went from 4-8 in Primetime's first season as coach to 9-4 last year but they've had a ton of turnover.
  • Will Bill Belichick succeed at the college level? I'd love to see an early season implosion after an early season loss to UNC-Charlotte or Richmond but even if that doesn't happen, they've got Clemson in week 4 and that might end up being the most lopsided in-conference game in the ACC this season.

Just when you thought that Auburn couldn't get any cheesier:

I get the 2004 season. They were a dominate team that got left out of the mix. I think they would have beaten beaten Oklahoma easily. Might not have beaten USC, but that was back when playing players wasn't allowed and Bush got caught. I hadn't moved to the area or started school until 2005 and was firmly a Tennessee fan at this point. I think Golfing news selected Auburn as National Champions. /s

No one should claim pre-WWII national championships.

This article has been making the rounds here. It was put together from by a Utah attorney so it's a bit more Utah specific. But really why not take any chance to dunk on UF or UA. It only looks at 26 cities, so I wouldn't put much stock in it.

It needs to be changed to CINO Football. College in Name Only. These are paid professionals. At least in the P4.

Dropping sports so football and basketball players can get paid? It's beyond warped.

One of Mrs. Bubba's longtime colleagues ran track for Bama back in the day - she has some interesting stories about Tuscaloosa...

Surprised Boise State got waxed by USF as bad as they did. That was rough. Also makes the Group of 5 race for the playoff much more wide open as Boise still has to play Notre Dame. College football, just when you think you've got it figured out . . . . .

Not a bad weekend of football! Sorry to UNC and 'Bama, those were rough.

On this we agree!

Michigan did not look impressive, made several stupid mistakes, and just played sloppy. While they got the win, it was not "Michigan Football".

Nevada Wolf Pack is playing my alma mater, Sacramento State, here in Reno this weekend. It's the first time the teams have met in decades.

As a lifetime member of the Sacramento State Alumni Club, I get free admission to all Hornet football games. I have been to exactly zero since I graduated. I wonder if I should go to this one? Honestly, though, I am all Wolf Pack nowadays. I don't even own a single piece of Hornet sports regalia.

Michigan did not play well on Saturday and did not deserve to win. There was a lot of missed cues on offense and a couple of missed opportunities on defense. I think coach Moore has a lot of work ahead of him this year.

The South Florida win was awesome!

Serious props to the Syracuse Coach for having his team run sprints after the game despite the win. Game time is game time and like 1981 US Olympic Hockey Coach Herb Brooks once said, "You will either work during the game, or after the game, but you will do the work."

Not great, but it wasn't a total embarrassment.

I was complaining to the TV about them continuing to run the ball and 'it's just not working', then about the next UM play they run the ball for a touchdown.

I agree that it wasn't an embarrassment. There was signs of good things, especially from a Freshman QB. But the mistakes were things that a team like Michigan should not be making.

I don't anticipate problems with CMU next week, but they should come at it like they are playing OSU and have their communication and fundamentals down.

Michigan did look a bit anemic but I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet.

They were missing a key TE on offense who's a huge target on passing plays and a great rush blocker when needed plus they had a great defensive player sitting out the first half because of a targeting call the previous week and Oklahoma was a 5.5 point favorite (IIRC).

Justice Haynes and Bryce Underwood still look good but it sounds like they have some work to do to get on the same page.

Hopefully next week against CMU turns into a "Get Right" game.

As a lifelong Vikings fan, I'm not convinced. The first half was terrible. Yes, his first pro game but still. Every QB can show flashes of brilliance but last night does not prove anything. I hope I am wrong.

As a lifelong Michigan fan, I'm convinced McCarthy is the real deal. He's the greatest QB this league has seen since Tom Brady and he's got nothing left to prove! I hope I am right. ;)
