Finally, the greatest spectacle in sports is upon us.

Wednesday marks the beginning of the NHL's second season and the push for the Stanley Cup.
I am excited, because Montreal is 1st in the East and begin the playoffs against the Boston Bruins (who will lose, sorry NHP).

Of course, Mskis' Detroit Dead Things continue their seasons of quality hockey with yet another capture of the President's Trophy (Best Reg. Season Record).

Colorado plays Minnesota in the first round.

TV wise, I will be able to only get the Colorado game, unless I find a hockey bar somewhere locally. I will be listening to the Habs on the radio through the Internet though.

What about you? I know there are hockey fans out here somewhere... let the smack fly!!

I'd love to be able to talk smack... BUT my team bombed out of the race in the last 8 games... So, I'm cheering for Montreal vs Calgary in the finals...

If history is any indication a team from the Sun Belt will once again hist Lord Stanely's Trophy.

Well despite a late season push my Oilers are on the outside looking in.

I'll be cheering for the Habs (my #2 team)... Prediction:

San Jose def. Montreal in 7

My DEVILS were en fuego there for quite a while, then seemed to go in the tank a bit at the end. We'll see which team shows up against the Rangers.

Montreal is 1st in the east... Detroit is 1st in the GAME!

Mike Babcock said this is the best team that he has ever coached. He commented on how the players know were each other are at every moment on the ice and the go to where the puck will be, not where it is. I see the SC heading to Detroit.

Besides, a Canadian team has not won since 1993… the closest to Canada it has gotten is the THREE cup wins by Detroit since 93’. I can just see all the Canadian teams lining the banks of Windsor, lusting for some bling.

Having said that, I would rather a Canadian Team win than a Southern Team win. Hockey should only be played where they can have ice more one week a year!

Er, um...the Thrashers landed the third pick in the draft! Woo-hoo!!

Man, what a miserable season. FIRE DON WADDELL!!!!

You sad, sad, sad, people....or weeble wobbles as we call you...

I hate to say it folks....but be prepared for a Anaheim-Washington matchup.

With Selanne and Neidermeyer back in the lineup, what was the second half of the season like for Anaheim? hmmm...

And with Washington dominating everyone since the trade deadline....they are looking pretty unstoppable at this point.

Washington will take the SC in 6 games....

Good start to the playoffs already and the games seem to be going well.

I only saw one game last night; watched Colorado almost choke and then win in OT.

Overtime playoff hockey is the absolute best! I don't care who is playing...

I will be listening to the Habs game online tonight.

I'd like to say that the Stars will knock the puckin' Ducks out but based on the 0-2 record after Selanne and Niedermeyer came back, probably won't happen. Nonetheless, GO STARS!!!!!!!

Habs have been (not) scoring their way to a 3-1 game lead over the Bruins.

Despite the low scoring, I am happy with the result.

Interesting that the line with Brashear is the most dominant! :p

NO doubt...and Carey Price is giving me fits. He was giving me fits when he was in Tri-Cities shutting down my Chiefs (WHL) and now he's doing it for the Bruins. Somebody run that kid already!!!!

In the meantime...does anybody hear humming? Sounds like a fat lady warming up.....

Game #3: Stars 3, Ducks 1
Series after 4 Games: Stars 3, Ducks 1

Could it be possible? GO STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:-@WIngs / Pred's 2-2 :-@

Not cool at all. The Wings should crush them like an bug and take it in four... not 6 or 7... or worse loose. I will be so ticked if they get bumped in the first round.

Yes, yes it could be possible. Our Stars flag is hanging outside right now, I set all of our jerseys out to wear (even the little Hab has one) and we're going to cheer and watch the Stars crush the Ducks. I'M SO EXCITED!!! I loate the Ducks almost as much as I do the Wings (sorry Wing fans). I just wish Roberts was living up to the hype. If I was his mother I'd probably give him a hard time right about now, he needs to bring it up a notch.

Gotta love the 2OT time!!!! Only 1 sweep so far, GREAT Playoffs!!

Here's a little known piece of trivia for you.

In the NHL - none of the players get paid for playoff games (unless they have incentives/bonuses built into their conracts) until the Stanley Cup finals.

In the AHL - they don't get paid either for playoff games until the third round and then they only get a portion of the gate receipts....

Prolly why the playoffs are even more special in my book compared to the NBA, MLB, and NFL.

Thank you Mr. Osgood. A shut out is a good thing in the reg season... it is a wonderful thing in the playoffs!

Round one, check
Round two, here we come!

The Bruins, sadly, have a lot of the Momentum right now and I feel that the Habs will exit the playoffs tonight. :-:)-(

It was a good run, Carey Price has looked good and perhaps this years playoffs will provide a good learning experience for the future, like next year when the Habs win their 25th Cup on their 100th Anniversary.

At least the Avs are still alive. Will it be a Avs/Wings series int he second round? We'll see.

I couldn't pick any of the players on either team out of a police lineup, but I'll be watching the Bruins-Habs tonight. Not because I'm a bandwagon Bruins fan (I'm really not, and could care less who wins), but because game 7 playoff games are thrilling, in any sport.

OY! Who would have thunk the Bruins would have taken the Habs to 7 games? NOT ME!!! They are usually the first team to get swept!!!

Robidas has my respect. Anybody check the lad's beak out from getting hit in the face with the puck??? Truly, that's what we call a warrior!!!!!

Note to everyone... while the Wings will make it to the cup, if some crazy fluke happens and the top rated team in the NHL does not make it to the Cup game, I hope that a Team from the Northern US or a Canadian team wins.

What a statement! :-c

MSkis, I thought you weren't a fan of stupid people;)

Good job by the HABS! But if they Boston take it to them, what will heppen in the 2nd round? :-c

Bullshirt.

Well said! Heck, Pittsburg is not only still in it, they appear to be in it to win it. This will help to resurrect hockey support in that city.

I think if anything it is shaping up to be a heck of a series. While the two first place teams are still in it, they did not have an easy go in the first round.

Speaking of local....the WHL Western Conference Finals came down to a 7-game series with Spokane winning it!! woohoo!!

Go Pittsburg!

Sharks 2, Stars 1 (sigh) Oh well, it's still Stars 3, Sharks 1 in the series so there is cause for optimism.

More hair falls off the top of my head...:-@

When do the Broncos report to training camp? (although, not much solice there either...):r:

If it helps, I am hoping that the Hab's loose to the Penguins in the next round!... in 7 games... with ice stained pink because of blood... and the third string goalies in net... and the coaches doing shots of pepto!

Part of me wants the Wings to loose tonight because it is a late game and I have to work tomorrow, and I will be in the Motor City on Saturday afternoon... but then again, if I were a coach I would want them to close it out while they can, give them a day rest, and practice hard for a few days while the rest of the league catches up.
