I read a report about how more people are opting for smaller engagements vs massive crowds for new years. They noted this shift began around COVID and the trends continue. Sure the big events continue to grow, but at a slower pace than the smaller activities like banquets, balls, and such.

Personally, I have no interest in the big events... in fact most of the time I will sit at home with the kids to watch the ball drop. Wife normally goes to bed around 10 that night. I don't anticipate this year being any different.

What about you? What are your plans for New Years?

ZZZZZZ.

NYE is my least favorite holiday, and, since the wife has to work at 6 a.m. the next morning, we are asleep long before Ryan starts the countdown. We do sometimes drop in on the party at our HOA clubhouse down the street for a while.

Our good friends have had party & bonfire for the last 30 years. Smokes multiple pork shoulders, briskets and chickens. We'll be there again.

I'll be at home. I don’t watch any NYE programs. I won't try to stay awake until midnight.

At the house packing up the camper--we're leaving for five days to go camping on the coast on New Year's Day

It's Amateur Night, so I stay home where I'm safe and sound.

I have done Times Square on NYE (1996) and smaller get-togethers with lovers, friends, and family. (Too many years to enumerate.)

I have spiked at 105F fever one NYE (1975/'76). That is my least recommended approach.

This year, I'll be sawing logs no doubt before 10:30 E.S.T. Hopefully offering a few chuckles in the annual FAC debauchery. @NHPlanner won't be looking ...

My wife may stay up for the east coast ball drop. We get stations from east and central. I'm usually up till around 2 that night just hanging out listening to music at home. My youngest might push to be up that night or may go to a cousin's house.

The time to 'do' New Years eve was 30+ years ago for me. I'll probably 'celebrate' by making cheese and crackers that evening as we watch The Repair Shop on BBC

Doing something, somewhere in Buffalo. Can't make it a late night, because I have to be up on NYD to attend the Inauguration [of the next mayor of Buffalo] at noon. Will probably go to sleep shortly after midnight, as to be up by 1030AM so I can make the ceremony/reception.
